Business Owner

Dr. Jeffery Gerhardt, general dentist, graduated from the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio in 1992. He practices family dentistry and has been straightening teeth since 1996. Dr. Gerhardt was previously named Theo’s Austin Dentist of the Year, publishes articles for the Academy of GP Orthodontics and the Journal of the American Orthodontic Society and teaches a course on orthodontics to other dentists.

Six months after getting several procedures done with Advanced Family Dentistry I am receiving a bill for over six hundred dollars! They told me my dental insurance would cover my crown which it does not and they used a type of filling which was not approved by my dental insurance. I was relying upon them to clear these items with the insurance company. I agreed to a treatment plan and paid the amount that I was told I owed at the time of treatment.
Now they are telling me that was only an estimate and how sorry they are that they gave me bad information but I still owe all this money which I don’t currently have any way to pay.

Who loves getting their teeth cleaned? Pretty much NO ONE. But, when the day came and my hygenist, Nicole, called my name, thus began a, dare I say, enjoyable experience!
Before we began, I had a few questions regarding my 3 year-old’s oral health, and she listened intently and offered some helpful suggestions. She answered some of my oral health questions as well and found some cool new samples of stuff for me to try.
The cleaning was so gentle and it went by so quickly, I couldn’t believe she was done.
Ask for Nicole… she’s awesome!

My first time at the office & I have found my new teeth cleaners. Friendly staff & all the latest equipment in a large office. My hygienist Jen was wonderful & my mouth felt great from the cleaning. They offer a great package to those without insurance & have already recommended them to family & friends.

I was told that my daughter’s 12 YO molars had come in early (great news) so that we could go ahead and proceed with braces. The woman who books the treatment plan was ALWAYS so bothered about doing her job. I often found myself «apologizing» while pre-​booking or what ever other business we had. She was extremely unkempt and unprofessional in appearance.
Braces went on and were even able to «come off early»…two months later, the retainer was painful and continued needing adjustments, yes charged. only to realize that her teeth were severely moving back. After more x-​rays, I’m shown how her molars were NOW coming in sideways (impacted).
They refused to give me any charts or xrays we had taken (even though they were legally ours) and said they never told me the teeth had come in early. Question: how would I have known different?
Went to another dentist/​Ortho. Only to find out she now needs major oral surgery and extractions then 2.5 more years of braces.
If I were the suing type, an attorney said it was a cut/​dry case because in the initial x-​rays, it had to have shown impacted molars. These are extremely painful!
I hope this review costs them more than the $ 4500 of unnecessary braces as well as the additional surgery/​extractions that will cost me who knows how much.

Wanted to update all the patients that are looking for a new dentist. We switched over to Avery Ranch Dental. OMG the best staff ever! Very professional, clean, very modern and they actually care about their patients!

My 12 year old son was going to a another dentist in Round Round. He had an emergency on a Sunday resulting in chipping in half one of his front teeth and being in a lot of pain. Our own dentist would not come in to the office to take care of this emergency even though we were a patient for years. We called around and found this dentist and he was willing to come in and take care of it because my son was in pain.
I thought this to be very magnanimous since we had no relationship with this office. I moved the whole family over to Advanced Family Dentistry because it seems to me you want your dentist to take care of you in an emergency.
Since then I have been happy with the change… they are very nice, professional and don’t seem to recommend work that is not absolutely needed. If you need a good dentist, this is your office.

I spent a lot of money here for myself and my family. I got braces here. I was charged for half set because they claimed I only needed them on the front of my teeth. The braces were taken off early. Within a few months I was not happy because my teeth began shifting. The braces were put back on. The top braces were taken off before bottom ones. The bottom ones were on for a few months longer. When I went back for the bottom to be taken off I noticed that my top & my bottom jaw line did not align. I brought this up and the orthodontist said he would charge me for a full set to be put back on. He should have known that they would not align midway through or even early on. If this was the case he should have let me know. Why would I pay someone for a full set after they did not do a good job the first time? Would $ 3600 for a full set guarantee they do a better job? The money was paid cash why would I spend more money for a job that isn’t guaranteed? This office haschanged and it is not what it used to be in 2009. I’m now looking for a new dentist and orthodontist for my family.

I hate going to the dentist, but this was before I found Advanced Family Dentistry. I have actually enjoyed going there because the place is clean and very nice. The first time I went for an appointment they gave me a tour. I thought this made things very personal. Every room has a TV so that you can watch something while they work on your teeth. Every person from the dentist, to the hygienist, to the receptionist has been very professional.
The only con is that they are so busy that it makes it very difficulty to get an appointment. However, they are worth the wait.

Great and greater! This is the place to go for all your dental needs. Personable & friendly put you at ease. Modern up to date office easy accessible from all north Austin locations. Centrally located off RR 620. Very friendly staff and skilled in insurance filing and estimates. No task big or small for office staff! Dental hygienist excellent, techs, and super know how dentists! I found them 10 yrs ago and have been overly satisfied! Not a big box dental clinic, moderate size with at least 3 dentists, several or more dental hygienist.
Won’t disappoint and not a rip off. Very honest and reliable. Give them a try.
