AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

My gf took her jeep up to get a diagnostic on her AC. They told her she needed a new AC Kit. She came home with the estimate and they wanted to charge her a $ 1000 for the AC Kit. You can buy this kit brand new with all the parts for $ 250. He said the upcharge was for the warranty… so you charge 4X the cost of the parts for warranty. id say you’re definitely makin your money up there aamco! Way to rob people and be the stereotypical car shop. Stay away from these peeps. They are crooks and don’t care about you. Thank God I looked at it. I can’t imagine how many clueless people they have screwed over before. Sad.

They were quick, well priced and friendly. I really appreciate the service and quick execution of services rendered.

I had been a regular customer at another nearby establishment for years, but when they hit me with a $ 3,000 quote for work on my car, I decided to look at other options. Time was of the essence, because I was told that my car was «dangerous to drive” — after all, it needed new wheel bearings, new CV axle bearings, and a new AC compressor. The AC compressor was the most important repair, which would set me back $ 1200.
I wound up buying a used AC compressor with the intention of having a mechanic friend install it, but when that fell through, I panicked. Remembering their radio commercials (that go out of their way to talk about easy finance options), I decided to give AAMCO a shot. Since it was after hours, I sent them an email through their website explaining my situation. I honestly wasn’t expecting a response, but sure enough, Andrew gave me a call the next morning. He had already put a price quote together, and explained that they would be happy to use the part I had already purchased (it just wouldn’t be covered by their warranty since it wasn’t theirs). I set up an appointment for a completely free diagnostic later that day.
When I arrived, I was able to sit down and talk to Andrew about my experience at the other repair shop, and I explained how the car was deemed unsafe to drive. He handed the keys to the mechanic, expressed my concerns, and I sat in the waiting room while the diagnostics were being performed. A short time later, Andrew informed me that my car had no axle bearing/​wheel bearing issues at all, and only needed the AC compressor. The price he quoted was very fair (on the low end of what a repair like this typically costs and a full 500 dollars less than the other estimate), so I set up an appointment to have the work done the next day. They also assured me that the car would be completely safe to drive until then, which really eased my concerns.
The repair was fast and on schedule! I was also impressed by the fact that they remembered me telling them about a possible power steering leak the day before– I had only briefly mentioned it and honestly forgotten about it when I dropped off the car that morning. Not only did they remember my concern, they also went out of their way to find the source of the leak (at no charge). In fact, when I was settling the bill, the mechanic came out of the garage to explain the leak — what tests he performed, how long it would take ro fix the problem, etc. I was really impressed.
I really can’t say enough good things about Andrew and his staff– they absolutely went out of their way to ease my concerns, get the job done right, and give me a fair price. I highly, highly recommend AAMCO in Cedar Park. They’re honest and they do good work.

I recently took my 1996 Toyota Tacoma to Andrew and the team for a free Check Engine light diagnosis. This location opens at 8AM, on Saturdays, and no wait was required! A certified technician was quickly able to diagnose an issue with my fuel injection system, and perform a fuel induction service while I waited, and sipped my FREE coffee. In less than an hour, I was back on the road and ready for my state inspection.

My encounter with Andrew Collins, the Customer Service Manager at this AAMCO location was less than pleasant.
The transmission went out in my SUV. I had it towed into AAMCO on December 10, 2014. I wanted to get an estimate on how much it would cost to have it repaired. Andrew told me that he would have a master technician look into what was wrong with it. A few days later, Andrew called me with the status of my vehicle. He told me that the seals on the transmission had failed and to have it repaired would cost over $ 2,500.00. I told him that was too much and declined to have it repaired. He did some refiguring of the numbers and came back with a price of $ 2,200.00. I told him that was still too much and again declined to have it repaired. I told him that I would look into selling the vehicle since I couldn’t afford to have it fixed. He told me he that he might know of someone who may be interested in purchasing my vehicle and would get back with me. Over the next couple of weeks, I checked in with him to see if there was someone interested in purchasing the vehicle. He told me that he needed to follow up with some people and get back to me. I told him that I needed to know something by December 26^th or I will remove the vehicle from the shop and try and sell it myself. When December 26^th rolled around, I called Andrew and told him that I was going to have my vehicle towed from the shop. He told me that it would cost $ 850.00 for me to get my vehicle back. I asked him what this was for and he said for the labor of diagnosing the problem with the transmission. Really! He wanted me to pay $ 850.00 for a diagnosis? I was floored. Especially since he didn’t mention this in our earlier conversations. I told him that I wasn’t going to pay this, hung the phone up and drove out to the shop. When I got there and demanded my vehicle be released to me, Andrew once again said that I would have to pay $ 850.00. I once again told him that I wasn’t going to pay it. Well, come to find out, my transmission was repaired, without my authorization! Andrew told me that the technicians jumped the gun and had repaired the transmission. There was also an invoice in the system that showed the work was completed on December 20, 2014. He was trying to manipulate me into paying for the repairs that I didn’t authorize his shop to do. He then told me that if I weren’t going to pay the $ 850.00 the transmission would have to be removed.
I can’t believe the treatment I received from this shop! When I finally realized the shady business practice of the Customer Service Manager, it was too late and it cost me my transmission. When I had my vehicle towed into the shop, my vehicle had a transmission, albeit it wasn’t working. Now, I am out of a transmission.
If you value honesty, integrity, and respect when it comes to having your vehicle repaired, don’t have your vehicle repaired here. Do yourself a HUGE favor and look elsewhere…

Took my car in for what I thought was a major transmission issue but the manager said it was a something different and minor. I was in business for 30 years and wish I had managers just like Andrew who were friendly and treated people fairly. I will go back in the future for transmission service no two ways about it. Give this guy a raise!!!

So, my son’a mom takes her car over to see the guys at Aamco under my advice because they are the sh*t right? Her car has a dead alternator, and is limping in battery power…
They diagnose the problem as the alternator. 170.00 fix plus labor according to Autozone, Advanced Parts, ect…
She calls me hysterical saying they want to charge her 619.00 to replace the alternator on her newish car.
I volunteered to take some time off and go replace it for her after watching a YouTube vid on how to remove it. 20 minutes later using only basic metric hand tools– car is running on new alternator.
Mathematically, 300.00 + for 15 min of work with air tools is outrageous by even Ferrari labor rates.
They were given multiple chances to adjust their price, and they lost a few other higher paying jobs from people I was going to recommend… Too bad soooo sad for the Aamco team.

I went in to get my oil changed in August. They told me my tie rod was in such bad shape it could break at any second and that the car should not be driven. I cancelled a vacation with family who was in from out of state because I couldn’t afford the repair at that time.
I have since had the car checked by two other reputable shops and while there is an issue, it is a long way from dangerous. Beware these liars.

Have a 2005 Ford Explorer, needed a major tuneup and brake job. Estimate from Covert Ford was $ 2k. Todd and his crew did it for $ 1,000. They fixed a couple of minor things that I didn’t mention to them, which was much appreciated. Don’t worry about going here, these guys are the real deal and the only place I will take my truck from now on.

I’ve been going to Todd at AAMCO in Cedar Park, Texas, for over a year now. It started with oil changes, and now it’s evolved into full tune-​ups. I trust Todd and his crew, and the value for the money is reasonable too. I would recommend them for all of your maintenance and repair needs. And the coffee is good too!

The only way this shop could be any better is if it were owned by an eccentric billionaire who decided to give away car repairs for free.
I dealt with Todd, who was extremely genial and professional. I didn’t feel like I was being talked into unnecessary repairs, and I was charged a very fair price for the work that was done. He even threw in a cheap, minor repair for free.
Thanks to all at this shop. I’m never taking my business anywhere else.

After I had to deal with the folks over at Round Rock Honda, who quoted me a ridiculous «not even full estimate…» of $ 6500! I went over to the AAMCO in Cedar Park. There I met the fabled Todd. I explained what RRH had told me the cost was going to be and in detail the problems I was experiencing. He told me what they were going to look over, and explained that they had a very knowledgeable team of experts with even more extensive knowledge of Honda vehicles. The price was supremely more reasonable, and the things that RRH had specified were broken, were not. Instead, there were other things that had been overlooked by the folks at RRH, that needed to be replaced. I received a far superior than expected discount on parts for the additional parts that my car needed to have replaced while it was in for service. RRH even overlooked the front brake-​pads and rotors that I had asked them to with no mention of it over the phone or in the diagnostic, but it didn’t get passed the guys at AAMCO! They told me in 2 – 3 months they could even resurface the rotors at about a quarter of what HHR had quoted me earlier this year.
I will definitely be back!

I don’t normally change business from place to place.
I happen to go to Aamco due to my lovely, dearly wife’s choice.
Well… it was one of the best choice that she ever made!
I pretty much knew what the problem I had, and Todd sure have gotten it right at the first place, and never try to cheat on me to upsell!
In my case, many places would try to make me replace the catalytic converter, but Todd was honest and said that I don’t need it that far.
He sure has earned my business!
I have 5 cars including company vehicles and I am taking all of them to Todd from now on!

Hubby loooove’s 93.7 fm. He listens to everything they say, including the ads. They said «take your car to AAMCO for a FREE checkup», so he did.
Yeeeees we did, again and again and again! What’s cool is they NEVER seem to mind checking out our cars for us, even though we could take them somewhere else to get them fixed for less. They always give us an honest opinion and never try to PUSH us to have them do the work.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the healthcare industry came up with this kind of thing? FREE CHECK UP… Yeah right!

I rate it a 1 because there isn’t anything lower. My mechanic said put in a rebuilt one. I should have listened. When I picked up my car, something was obviously wrong — even pointed it out to ‘em. They said drive it. When it fell apart on us out of town, it took almost 3 weeks to get it fixed — and cost another $ 500. Most of the time was spent because these guys dragged their feet. That was one expensive transmission!
