I would give zero stars if I could. My 18 year old has been trying to get her ID since February! They wont listen to her, they instead give her an affidavit for ME to sign proving she is a resident & actually 18 years old! (I work 45 hours a week M-​F & a single mom) She has her original birth certificate, social security card, bank statement & dr note with immunization record. She was homeschooled so there’s not an «official» school record, she doesn’t have any of the other things that could prove her residency or age such as mortgage, handgun license, utility bills, etc. She doesn’t have a license yet but we are trying to get things in order first & they keep hindering her. This place is a joke, I’ve NEVER had such a horrible experience at this place until the past few months. The workers need to be quiet & listen to their customers before shooing them out the door to get the next person. I tried looking them up in BBB but they aren’t even listed-​this place needs a huge overhaul with new workers & regulations!

Really though… Aren’t we paying for this with Taxes?
You expect a wait at the DMV. Sadly, it’s part of life in America. But should we have to? Don’t we pay enough to have comfy chairs, a small TV with comedy central on it, moderately trained staff (not nessesarily with smiles on but at least not with frowns) Aren’t we better than this America? I feel like I’m in prison.

If I could put minus five stars!!! The most rude people I’ve ever known!!! If the person doesn’t speak English they think you’re NOTHING!!! Discrimination and racism all the way… Save time and don’t go there, use different office!

Was worried about my driving test here since I read some bad reviews, but I actually had a great experience here. We showed up an hour early, as per the directions, and got in line for paperwork. Once we had everything filled out we were sent to another line, where we waited for a few minutes until receiving paperwork and directions for the driving test. The test itself took about 15 minutes, and we didn’t ever have to wait too long in the lines, and I was able to pass my driving test :)

I just took a driving test here today. Apparently all the women that work there are mad at everybody because they make a low wage. Their patience are very short. So go to Waxachie or any other DMV other then this one. They will screw you over if they want to.

Monday, I went in to get registered into the system and set my appointment for my driving test on Wednesday. I was okay with that because I know I had to get scheduled. So on Wednesday I came in ready to take my drivers test but little did I know that I needed some sort of ID to actually take the test. My appointment was at 3:40 and my number still wasn’t called. I didn’t have my ID so my father actually drove up there and dropped it off. After that I went back up to the desk and was denied because it was after 4:00. Had I not went up there to show her my ID I would’ve still been waiting for my number to be called. The lady Ms. Rubio, had the nastiest attitude, and did not seem to be happy there. I do not recommend this DMV to anybody. They have an obnoxious attitude.

I am embarrassed that a supposedly middle class city, Cedar Hill where I used to work has very rude and obnoxious workers working in this department. No, everybody are NOT hoodlums or homeless people when they come to sign up to become new drivers. When you bring documents in to them, they yell that you don’t have the necessary paperwork and each worker tells you something. The last time my son came in, the worker didn’t want to see the Online Test and asked for birth certificate, SS card, school records, etc. So then my husband left the Online Test and brought this other stuff and this worker went off on him. My husband told her she shouldn’t talk this way to the public and she continued to talk to him like «Judge Judy». I guess that is why they have a security guard on duty, in case somebody returns back talk. When I go in myself with my son I plan to tape them running off at the mouth. This is sad.

I’ve heard of some horror stories about the DPS however my two experiences have been positive.
Make sure you bring all necessary paperwork/​documents/​IDs. It is all state on the DPS website. Upon walking in, you get a number and any forms that need to be filled out. I waited roughly 5 minutes both visits before my number was called.
Some of the workers are emotionless but I’m sure they’re like that because of all the frustrating people they have to deal with on a daily basis. One downside is that you need to be ready when they take your photo. Anticipate by 2 seconds. I was told «6 more seconds» but in fact my photo was taken in 3 seconds. Yes, the photo was of me not smiling with my lip partially open about to smile.
Also your Driver’s License is mailed to you so you will need to carry a large 8×11 temporary license around.
