I bought a Groupon for an Eyebrow threading and Brazilian wax. I figured this place was a whole lot closer than my usual place(European Wax Center in Arlington), that I could get both services done on my lunch break. Eyebrow Arts is located within a braiding shop, which isn’t too bad. The lady that did my eyebrows jacked them up. I grew them out for 2 months to get a great shape, and she jacked them up. On top of that she wanted me to sign a waiver prior to getting waxed. That never happens at European Wax center. The waxing area was a reclining salon chair drapped in a sheet with old wax on it and a few strands of hair. EWWWWWW! The wax was in one area and it looked unsanitary. I couldn’t even go through with that at all. Looks like I wasted my money on those Groupons.

I am new to the area so I was absolutely terrified trying anybody other than my usual lady back in central Texas. I went to this place based on convenience. Thankfully, I left just as pleasant as I was when I walked in. I’ve never had my eyebrows threaded before so that added to my uneasiness. When I walked in Sumi greeted me and took me to her station. My eyebrows are extremely thick, and also grow in different shapes. One square and the other rounded, and I too, have had some people jack my eyebrows up. I’m talking turning my thick brows into eyeliner thin brows. Anyway, I explained to Sumi how I like the shape they already were so to stay true to it and just clean them up…(my other lady had them pretty symmetrical). She understood, and they came out excellent. She also trimmed them down, although she could’ve trimmed more. She also went very fast. $ 8 for eyebrow threading. Not bad at all.

So, let me start with the positive first; the little that got this place a rating of 2 stars(really more like a 1.5) and not just one. Once I finally found the location(it is located inside of a hair braiding salon) everyone was very friendly and welcoming, including the braiders(braiding stations are up front; EA is set up in the back). Eyebrow Arts is set up in an open space of the shop, and there were two ladies present when I went there. Oh, I had a Groupon too, so my eyebrow threading was only $ 5. Now, on to why 3.5 stars have been deducted. I was very specific about how I wanted my eyebrows threaded before we got started because I have had some people to jack up my brows in the past; but, I thought why not support a business in my area, and save some money in the meantime. WRONG. Once the lady started threading my brows, I could tell she wasn’t doing them the way I requested because of the area of my brow where she was using the thread. At which time, I attempted to stop her and remind her that I didn’t want my brows that way. But even though I told her(like two or three times) not to do it that way, she kept on, and then proceeded to tell me that it looks better that way. At this point, even though I am easygoing usually, I am ticked. I don’t care if I wanted her to thread one brow entirely off and leave the other one on, they are MY brows and I requested them a certain way, and she ignored it. Then to make things worse, she did my right brow the way I requested, therefore leaving me with mix-match eyebrows. At this point, I was so frustrated, I showed her my Groupon, STILL left a $ 2 tip(just because I don’t want there to be a perception that ppl on this side of town don’t tip) and left. The other lady sitting nearby did offer to thread my lip for free, but at this point, I just wanted to leave. What is crazier, is the lady never even offered an apology. Thank goodness the regular spot I go to in Uptown Village was still open, and my usual lady fixed my brows as best as she could(and didn’t even charge me although I paid her anyway). They were so bad that she(so innocently) said, «It’s okay, we can wait until they grow out to fix them, but let me ask you a question please. Was the lady who did your brows Indian like me or some other race because people from my country usually do better work?» I told her that based on what I could see from the ladies’ physical appearance, they were the same race/ethnicity. She just looked very strange and walked off. Uggh. I will NEVER go to this place again. Oh, and like the other reviewer said, of the about 3 seedy areas in Cedar Hill, this shop is located in one of them.

I got my eyebrows threaded here and it was awesome. My eyebrows look great. Their prices are great too. Especially now since its grand opening prices. I am definitely coming back to try out the Brazilian wax ;) 4 stars because the location is kinda seedy.
