Here at Acton Optical, we strive in putting you first. Our knowledgeable staff takes time in helping you select your frames and lenses that are right for you. We use the latest in lens edging technology, so we are able to have most of your orders ready in two to three days.

History

Established in 1962.

Acton Optical was founded by Jewel Acton in 1962 and sold to his partner Phil Knapp some time later. It was eventually purchased in October of 1996 by Randy Betsworth (American Board of Opticianry Certified) and his wife Ruth Betsworth. Randy has been in the optical business since June of 1972 where he started as an Optician with Duling Optical. He then worked with Eyecare Associates of Waterloo for 13 years before he purchased Acton.

Acton Optical is a full service Optical with designer frames and lenses of all types including glass, plastic, and trivex materials. We specialize in ordering lenses and frames not normally stocked by most optical shops. We also have an on-​site laboratory where we cut most of our own orders and some single vision orders can be ready the same day. Acton Optical welcomes the opportunity to serve your eye-​wear needs. Most insurance is accepted and we are located on Kimball Ave in Waterloo next to McDonald’s in the Subway complex.
