St. George Transmission in Cedar City

Wow, I can’t explain how impressed I am with this place and David as a mechanic. On the 2^nd day of a 10 day RV trip my truck was making a horrible grinding sound. 1^st instinct was to go to Ford dealership next door because my trucks a ford. However, being Pioneer Day in Utah Ford was closed that day along with most other businesses. It was a miracle that St. George Transmission in Cedar City was open. And David kindly squeezed me in considering my situation. He is the most honest/​knowledgeable mechanic I’ve been to. I thought I was in for it and blew my whole 4×4 or differential. But he knew the problem right away and was only a vacuum line that needed replaced. He took care of that for me and only charged one hr labor and we were back on the road. Was so thankful as many other places could have seriously ripped me off in that type of situation. During my trip my AC then went out while driving back through Colorado. I planned my last night of trip back at KOA in Cedar City just because its right across the street from St George Transmission and I had faith that David would be able to help with the AC also. I went there instead of the Ford dealership even though they were open that day because I really trusted David’s advice. He fixed my AC for me for a lot less than I was expecting again (even though I knew they didn’t specialize in AC’s). David’s the man to see. And we were able to finish our trip home in nice AC in 100 degree + weather which was another trip saver. Love this place! :)

This is the 4^th or 5^th time I’ve taken my vehicles here to be fixed. Twice were major transmission fixes and the rest were routine service tasks. I have to say that the people who work here and manage the place are honest and forthright with their estimates and charges. Its rare to find ANYONE who will honor or even be in the ballpark with estimates, these guys come withing 2% of their estimate projections every time. If you can find an honest doctor, a dentist, and a mechanic your life will be easier, and these guys are my pick for Cedar City mechanics; take your car here, you’ll be treated well.

Car started making scary noises with 1200 miles left to go on this trip. Was referred here by the very nice people at Rolling Rubber, and so glad I stopped in. Bill was extremely personable and respectful, something I don’t always experience as a small woman in an auto shop. He went for a drive with the diagnostic tool, and explained to me what could be happening with my vehicle. As it turned out, I was pushing the engine too hard up all the hills out here. He was honest and told me if I loved my vehicle I just had to treat her a little nicer as the engine wasn’t made for so much topography. 200 miles later, I’m pretty sure he was right. He spent over a half hour helping me out and didn’t charge me a cent. I wish I could’ve paid him for his expert help! Definitely the place to go, when you have no idea at all where to go!

St. George is really a saint! On a family road trip our car started slowing down, we found St. George’s on Unilocal and were so happy we did! We were greeted so friendly and helped so fast, it was as simple as out transmission oil running low. We were back on the road in less then 20 min. Were so thankful for the gentlemen to who helped, he genuinely cares for his customers! Great place, fast service and sweet people. Thank you!

A check-​engine light with more than 750 miles left on our road-​trip home is scary. There is certainly an opportunity for a dishonest mechanic to fleece a traveler, but the folks at St. George Transmission were honest and helpful. The problem was diagnosed, and because of what caused the light to go on, there was really nothing to be fixed. The technician checked the fluid levels and gave me some good general tips to help avoid problems on the remainder of our trip. I would definately reccommend this business.
