I recently separated from the military and needed to file my VA claim. I had dome the initial paperwork through the DAV at NOB in Norfolk but I lost a couple of forms and my address was changing. My wife’s friend works for a branch of Veterans Services and told us that I could stop in when we went to visit some family. When I went in I was seen right away. No problems with drawing up the new paperwork and going through my medical records again. Since I was in town a week I left my records at the office so they could be gone through more thoroughly. I was called back in a couple of days later to review the paperwork and sign. About two weeks later when I logged into my eBenifits portal on the VA website my claim was reflected.
Bottom line, if you are a veteran that needs assistance, I highly recommend stopping in. They were courteous, efficient and educated on the process.
