This hotel is pretty awful… that said, there isn’t much else in the area, and it’s probably better than most/all of the other motels I saw in Catskill and the surrounding towns. If you’re driving here, it is ~100 yards from 87. It is NOT on the approach to the Rip Van Winkle bridge, or anywhere else that Google, MapQuest, GPS, etc might try to send you. Not particularly inexpensive, and not a very pleasant place to stay. Could do with a remodeling, as everything in here looks very old. However, it didn’t feel especially unclean, and I didn’t feel uneasy staying here. I just wouldn’t return by choice. Two stars just because I’m sure you can do a lot worse in the area.

The website information on this hotel is deceptive, which is about the nicest way to say that. This hotel perhaps used to be decent; now it is run down. The fun part is that the rates remain high. I came in late at night and exhausted, so I didn’t get the full effect until the next morning, but I had plenty of indications once I got to my room. Here is an idea of it: of the four lights in the room, three were burnt out. I would never have stayed the night if my family had been with me. Alone, I just endured it. I will admit that I barricaded the door. I paid 99 bucks for that privilege – what a moron. I must say that the two women working the counter were very nice. The young woman in the morning was dealing with a line of complaining customers, several checking out early, and all disgusted. She hung in there and was nice and apologetic the whole time. I wish for her a better job.

There’s not a lot going on to recommend this hotel. It was fine: The room had a bed and a TV in it. But its location — right off 87 and 23B — means that it’s a highway hotel. Speaking of which, don’t let Mapquest steer you in the wrong direction. 23, 23A, and 23B are entirely different highways, and the hotel is off 23B, not either of the other two. The hotel has a restaurant on site, which we didn’t try — and our room had no windows because it was off an exterior wall hallway with windows overlooking the parking lot. If I go back, I’ll probably go just up the road to the Rip Van Winkle Inn, a charming-looking hotel that might not be as nice as the Quality Inn, but probably has more character.
