Whimsy Cakes

I love cupcakes and these are beyond impressive! The cake is just as moist and flavorful as the icings and toppings. She does a wonderful job of making sure every bite is an enjoyable experience. I tried the banana pudding, peach cobbler and salted caramel cupcakes… Can you say, «Everything and more»? She said that if we only bought one we would come back for another. We will definitely be back for more!

We got a beautiful Elsa cake made for my daughter’s 5^th birthday. I have to say the fondant was the tastiest part –so was the oreo filling. Almost every parent said it was a beautiful cake.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! The owner, Taneka Weldon, has personally ruined not one, but TWO birthday parties! The first was for my 6 year old twins’ birthday party in February. The cake was not ready when promised (3 hours late) and therefore my children and all 30 guests had NO CAKE! Imagine the disappointment on so many levels. They actually had to blow out their candles in ice cream cups. I contacted her a few days later and she promised to «make it right». She offered to make another birthday cake for my partner plus a smaller cake for the twins. I gave her the date and location and she said she would deliver it, after all she wanted her customers to be happy. I told her at that point that I was located in VA and she said «no problem». I also contacted her 2 times after to make sure. The birthday party was yesterday (March 19^th) so I contacted her to confirm where she wanted to meet. She said she would meet me at the venue. 3 hours later she TEXTED to say she couldn’t come because it was too far for her to drive by herself. I called her to discuss the issue and she had the most nonchalant and unapologetic tone ever. She actually suggested that I leave the birthday dinner to come closer to her! I offered to have someone meet her and she came up with more excuses… she stated that she didn’t know where any place that I suggested was and that she couldn’t drive over bridges. I could hear her talking to her mother asking how far certain places were. I really doubted that she ever made the cake due to her responses. In the end, we still had NO CAKE YET AGAIN! Don’t let the «sweetness» fool you… she has a lot to learn about customer service after breaking her promises twice!

Finally was able to get in when they were open. Best cupcakes I’ve ever had, and their Whimsy Punch (it’s actually strawberry tea) is TO DIE FOR! I work across the street and head over whenever I see that they’re open. The strawberry shortcake cupcakes are filled with strawberry (jelly?) and the chocolate cupcakes (simple, but delicious) have the best buttercream frosting I’ve ever tasted. Will definitely keep returning for more. I’m officially addicted to Whimsy Cakes!

Love love love this place! I’ve been a fan of her cupcakes and cakes for years! Her creativity is amazing and the taste has yet to be compared to. Can’t wait for more locations!

Based purely on customer service and not on their products… If you have hours posted of when you are open and closed you would think that they would be open during those times. I tried to walk in at 12:30pm on a Saturday (it’s posted that they open at 11am) for me to open the door and have them tell me they are closed and are opening late today… You would think they would want business of it is walking through the OPEN DOOR!!!

Friendly service. Good for an emergency cupcake craving, but the topping tastes like cool whip.

Called to see what time they closed and got a machine. On Unilocal only said they were open. We got there at 12:15 on a Sunday. The door was open so we started to go in and were greated by a man who yelled at us WE’RE CLOSED. I had my 5 year old with me. She said when we left «that man was really mean.» So we didn’t get to try anything but won’t go back. I think the man was the bakery. He had on a white apron.

A new bakery right down the street :) Well I went to pick up Chinese food and since I had to wait… Long story short, I ended up with ½ dozen cupcakes!

I had– strawberry shortcake (with a strawberry filling), lemon, salted caramel, red velvet, and banana pudding.
My boyfriend and younger brother love these cupcakes! I think they are pretty good. The major difference is I like things super moist and the men like it just right ;)

I was sooooo excited when a cupcake place opened up near me. I stopped by to check it out on my way home from work. They had a great selection and were really helpful with picking out a cupcake. Their Death By Chocolate was to die for! This is going to be my new go-​to place for desserts!!!

I have to stop going there before my bottom balloons. The snicker doodle cupcake was everything! The icing wasn’t too much or too sweet.

Strawberry lemonade. .2-​but I’m not a strawberry fan. It was strawberry cake with lemony icing.. ehh
Strawberry cheesecake. .5 and I don’t even LIKE cheesecake
Chocolate chocolate. .5-​i often find bakeries miss the mark with the moist-​ness of chocolate but Taneka Hag it!
The owner is beautiful inside and out too.

So excited there’s a bakery near me! The owner is very sweet and professional. The cupcakes are good, although I wish they had some basic flavors in stock everyday (I.e. Yellow, vanilla, red velvet).I’ve tried the banana pudding (it was amazing) and I’m looking forward to trying more flavors!
