Rags To Riches Thrift Store

This place is small, but packed to the gills. Lots to look at here. I didn’t end up buying anything, but had fun browsing. They do have a nice vintage/​costume section. When I was there the staff was friendly enough. This is kind of out of the way and parking in the back is a little creepy, especially when there was a homeless person re-​organizing his shopping cart right there in the tiny parking lot, but all was well.
This place is super religious. Nothing wrong with that, but I would avoid if that sort of thing offends you.

This thrift store is amazing. I almost didn’t stop due to the low Unilocal reviews, and that would have been a mistake. Parking is in the back of store. We were lucky to get a spot close to the door, but parking is limited. The shop is jam packed with merchandise. Every corner is full, which makes it fun to look around and find our treasures. We happened to go on a day where the whole store was 50% off, so we scored. In response, to another Unilocaler’s post on this shop, who cares if the older ladies, working in the store, acknowledge you or not, that’s not a good reason for a low Unilocal review. Enjoy the store– it’s worth it.

This is a great little thrift shop. They have quite a selection for their size. I love the vintage clothing section. You could easily outfit your entire kitchen; when I visited they had a great kitchen selection. I was also surprised at how organized it was. The front door and access street are north of Ramon.

I suppose the merchandise selection is about average. What irks me somewhat is that NOT ONCE has anyone ever said, «Hello», or greeted me. This would sting less if the patrons who walk in before & after me were also shunned.

They didn’t honor a coupon posted on Unilocal

They were not honoring the 50% off discount that was advertised on Unilocal and without it the clothes are not worth it. There were a few cute vintage dresses but they were stained and overpriced.

When I go out to Palm Springs with my family for the occasional weekend getaway, I try to break free for some alone time. Hey, I’m a Stay-​at-​home Dad so I don’t need to factor in family bonding time. My Wife and girls need time away from ME too! LOL Anyway, I collect old and/​or interesting books, so Thrift Stores are akin to a hunting trip for me. I’ve been to about 80% of the Thrift Stores between PS and Indio and enjoy the thrill of the chase. (Example: I once bought a WWII book printed in 1943 and there were neatly cut-​out newspaper articles from that year tucked throughout the book. It was fascinating and the best 2 bucks I’ve ever spent!) I don’t think there are any bad Thrift Stores out there. Interesting pickin’s abound!
Now, this particular store stands out for two reasons for me. (1) stellar Customer Service delivered by the Owner Lady (I’m a Schmuck for not remembering her name) and (2) they maintain a very impressive book selection. I can tell you that it’s a treasure trove of furniture and other goodies too. The store is properly cooled and nicely displayed. Be sure to ask about the books because they’re in the back area behind the curtain. (Sure, do your Wizard of Oz imitation, I’ll wait…) OK, the books are neatly categorized and the only bummer is that I wasn’t able to purchase any books older than 1959. The reason was that she’s trying to sell them online and needs help looking up prices. I was bummed as I had discovered a book from 1867 but hey, it’s cool. If I lived out there, I’d volunteer. HEY, why don’t YOU volunteer? In the meantime, DO NOT MISS this Thrift Store! Happy hunting!
