This is a great shop! Brought my work car in this morning and they were able to look at it and have it back to me in just a few hours. Very kind and honest shop — will definitely be my go-​to repair shop now!

This place is fantastic! The guys here are so nice and helpful. I took my car in for a Smog test across the street and it wouldn’t pass because the air intake was illegal. I took it to Valley Auto Repair-​they replaced my filter and fixed it in a matter of seconds so that it would pass smog. I trust these guys 100% with my car!

I called Roger Krause a first rate racing shop in town and asked them who they recommended to do maintenance on a 2010 Corvette ZR1. The owner said definitely Valley Auto. I called them up and was able to drive right over. Very cool guys!
It’s a shame one lady gave a bad review and hurt their rating. You can’t just cut the wires on an aftermarket alarm system and have the problem go away. The alarm will still go off, it will still draw power, but because you disconnected the horn you won’t be able to hear it.
This shop is locally owned and has been in business for a long time. I sat in the shop and waited for my car. It was very comfortable and clean. They definitely have my business. I can be a picky customer. I want the place to have expertise, be friendly and give me a good price. These guys deliver on all three.

These guys really helped me when I needed it. I felt that they were honest and cared about me and my car. I absolutely hate those mechanics that are trying to just get your money. I will definitely be coming back! Thanks guys!

We have been taking our cars to Valley Auto off and on for almost 10 years, and we have always had a positive experience. They have done big jobs and small jobs for us and they stand by their work. Just recently my car didn’t pass smog, and the mechanic running the test said it would likely be a big repair. I ended up stopping by Valley Auto later that afternoon and Bob (their awesome mechanic) walked into the office while I was waiting and took a look at my print out. He asked me a few questions and then said «Bet I know what that is.» We went out to the parking lot and long story short, he reattached a hose that is sometimes overlooked during oil changes for my particular vehicle. He cleared my check engine light and sent me on my way (No Charge). So much for that big repair. I really feel like these guys are committed to making long term relationships with their customers. You get nothing but good and honest service, and quality workmanship. Five Stars for being a consistently reliable repair shop!

I cannot say enough positive things about Valley Auto Care. We have been taking our vehicles here for over 2 years and have received nothing but great, prompt, thorough and honest service. We have had everything from oil leaks to radiator replacement to transmission problems diagnosed and fixed at Valley and each problem has been diagnosed and fixed on the same day. I am please with their honesty and quality of their work. They have had opportunities to be dishonest and overcharge us (for example we had a terrible oil leak and they took a look, identified that the oil pan drain plug was loose, tightened it and didn’t charge us) but we have always walked away with quality work, that addresses our problems.
I highly recommend Valley Auto Care for any auto maintenance needs.

I have been dealing with John and Bob for the past 6 years, these guys are as good as they get. Bob can take apart and put together anything that comes through the shop. They are both VERY honest people and would never recommend something
on a vehicle that isn’t needed. At a labor rate of $ 105 per hour you are getting a steal for the work that is being produced on your vehicle. I highly recommend taking your vehicle here for work if you have been looking for a truly honest mechanic. Five stars for these guys, keep up the good work!

Not sure why the low star reviews. I have been going here for almost 30 years. Completely honest. Sure, it may seem like they’re not busy but mechanics need to take a break, too. Their lot is always full & they go the extra mile to trouble shoot & resolve situations your vehicle may have. They are truly great guys. One example is the shop up the street said my valves will need adjusting & wanted $ 1400. Well, I took it to Jon & without even looking said the valves are self-​adjusting. Now that’s what I call honest. They are very understanding. To the one complaint where the person thought the guy was sitting & surfing the net. Try & take the time to really see what he was doing & you’ll see he’s always on a parts website looking for parts & updated methods to repairing your vehicle. Great place. Honest. And very kind.

I’ve never had any problems with these guys. I’ve had some complicated issues with my car and they knew how to fix it. I’ll go back to these guys again when I need service or repairs.

These guys were the biggest jerks. I stopped by because my alarm was going off. Before even stepping out of the garage I was told by one of the trolls that it had to be taken out and would take an hour at least at $ 105 an hour. Then another troll walks out of the office and looks at my car 2001 Honda CRV from 10 feet away and says oh that alarm is a piece of shit and nobody steals cars like yours. Wow!!! I drove to Hayward to Autohaus which was fairly busy. Matt got to me fairly fast. He went out crawled under my steering wheel and was able to disconnect the alarm. No Charge!!! I will be replacing my alarm but don’t think it will be anywhere in Castro Valley.

Took my truck in for brake pads on 5÷17÷13 and got great service. Shop closes early on Friday’s and I got my truck back on time at a great deal of a price, they even checked my battery at my request. Very clean shop and that’s a plus. Will patronize this shop.

i took my sons car to this (expletive) (expletive) for an estimate for the front wheel bearings, struts and to do an alignment. he writes up a work order for an estimate and says he’ll look at it after lunch. the shop appeared empty with no other mechanics and no other vehicles were being worked on. i gave him the key and he said he’ll call me and let me know when he was done. he had my cell number and my son’s, as well.
a few hours passed and i’m wondering what’s going on. i mean, the place was like a ghost town when we dropped off the car and he was just seated at his desk surfing the net or something. regardless, i didn’t want to bug the guy in case he actually got busy or something. i’m within walking distance so i strolled up to the corner and looked across the street and there’s my car and it looks like it hasn’t moved. i wasn’t worried but at 4:40pm i walked up there and the car was gone and the shop was locked up tight. i flipped out. we needed the use of the car that night and i didn’t say it was ok to keep it overnite. not for an estimate. i called the number at the top of the work order and it was a friggin fax line.
in the morning, my son went and picked up the car. i didn’t go because if the (expletive) sassed me in response to my complaint, i might have just brained him right on the spot. he gave a wildly high estimate on top of everything. $ 600 per wheel bearing — struts and other things we talked about were not included. we got the job done for about half the price somewhere else.

I have been using Valley Auto for over 10 years. These guys are the most honest and upfront guys I have met. How often will a mechanic go out of their way to find a way to save money on a repair?!

John && the boys of this shop are SUCH a big help, brought in my car today because of a weird clunking sound near my wheel well, come to find out nothing was wrong with it and whatever they tightened underneath my car fixed it because ive driven it on the freeway and around town for a hour && havent heard the noise AT ALL. they are such a great group of guys who clearly know what there doing. Deffintely saved me ALOT of money since i was going to bring it into the dealership i bought it from and raise all sorts of hell. Decent prices for 100% satisfaction. I will deffinetely return if i have (hope not) future problems with my car! Thanks guys!

I am surprised to see only one review on here (and a really negative one at that!). I have been going to Valley Auto Repair for ten years or more and trust these guys implicitly. They have taken care of all of the cars I have had in that time, and owner Johnny Lewis is one of my favorite people.

I would never use this business again!
I like to support local business, so I took my 2005 Volvo there for an oil leak, $ 1700 later… I still had an oil leak and the owner, John Lewis said «I don’t know where the leak could be coming from… but, It is fine, the leak isn’t that bad, you can drive it like that and put oil in every two weeks».
I took my vehicle to McKevitt Volvo, who assured me that this shop made a mess of my Volvo. Thankfully Volvo fixed it and it doesn’t drip a bit of oil. Currently trying to get my money back from this dishonest and unethical shop!
