I ordered a mortadella sandwich on a sweet roll and I m so glad I did. The staff were very friendly and my partner was impressed with the Italian products they sell. We will definitely return. If I HAD to complain about something, the refrigerated space could be a bit cleaner. Overall, yummy!

I’ve eaten at Lucca’s now about 10 times, and it’s always been good. I like the chicken sandwiches. My only complaint is that the sourdough roll is really tough(but still tasty), which while eating, can cause the sandwich to fall apart.

I love this place! The sandwiches are so fresh. They also have entrees there that you can purchase for dinner at home. I’m officially hooked. I can’t believe I lived in Castro Valley for 6 years and haven’t been inside this place until recently. I must have been living under a rock. Definitely a must try!

Best sandwich spot in town. I recommend salsa turkey on Dutch crunch with everything on it plus their garlic cheese spread and pepper jack cheese! Soo damn good! Or instead of the garlic cheese spread you can get pesto sauce. Either way you gotta get one of those on there. Add bacon and/or avocado and you’ve got yourself the best sandwich around these parts!

OMG Luccas. Best. Sandwiches. Ever. They are a little prices for deli sandwiches, but oh, are they worth it. They have so many meat and cheese selections that anyone will find a sandwich that they will enjoy. The sandwiches are massive and so delicious. They also have a great selection of italian treats, cookies, pickles, relishes, mustards, sweets, and other little items to drool over while you wait for your order. They offer pre-made meals that you can buy and take home like ravioli, cacciatore, etc, for those of us who don’t have time to cook every night, but their crowning jewels really are the sandwiches. Stop in if you have a chance, I guarantee it’ll be worth it!

Their sandwiches are pretty good, you must try the dutch crunch. Their spaghetti with meatballs though… omg it’s amazing! Customer service was superb and I liked that they have a little grocery type store where I was able to grab some vino and cookies ;)

Got food catered here for a party. Staff was VERY helpful with my order. The raviolis were great but the cheese tortellini in alfredo sauce needed a lot of work. Not much flavor and not very creamy. The meat and cheese plate we ordered looked beautiful but the quality of the meats and cheese were CERTAINLY not that of a true Italian deli. Go here to cater for your party if you need mediocre food for a great price.

This place is awesome! Good old fashion Italian deli. The sandwiches are always fresh. I’ve been coming here for 10+ years and they have never failed to make a great sandwich. Egg salad in light Rye… Delious! Q for the owner if you wouldn’t mind sharing: 1– What’s the secret to finding the type of employees that you have? They are always friendly and quick. 2-what’s your secret in keeping them so loyal to you and always so pleasant to the customers?

One of the best deli sandwiches I’ve ever had. A large variety of meats, from pastrami to peppered turkey, tuna salad to a veggie sandwich, Lucca’s has a lot to offer. My boyfriend and I usually get a pastami sandwich and pepper turkey sandwich, to split. You can pick between a roll or sliced bread. If you get to Lucca’s later in the afternoon they often won’t have the more popular bread, like dutch crunch. I’ve tried their chicken salad, which is also delicious. The bread to meat to condiments ratio is spot on. Avocado and cheese are extra cost. If you’re not feeling like a sandwich, they also have pasta salads! Definitely try their pesto pasta salad – I could eat a whole tub of it, not that I have… They also carry dried pastas and a number of snacks. And on weeks that I don’t feel like cooking lunches for work, I’ll pick up a frozen meal from Lucca’s, buy some vegetables at the Safeway down the street, and that’s my lunch for the week! They have meatloaf, pastas, beef stew, and more.

I’ve had great sandwiches and not so great sandwiches from here? I guess it just depends on their mood?

Fresh selections, expansive options, friendly service, incredibly delicious food! Anything you get from here is going to knock you off your feet. Especially the tomato and green onion focaccia bread, and lasagna. And their cheeses, and their salamis, and their ravioli, and their sandwiches, and their cold sides… Everything! I recommend taking public trans and walking to this place. It’s so easy! However parking is not.

I love this place! Fresh, artisan sandwiches at a reasonable price.($ 8 bucks totally beats a $ 5 dollar foot long at another sandwich spot that shall remain nameless!) I have been here numerous times and am consistently satisfied. My sandwich of choice: turkey with pepper jack cheese with everything(including pepperoncinis) on dutch crunch… Hmmmm…sandwich. TIP: Call your order in, by the time you arrive your sammy will be waiting for you!

After looking for a Italian Delicatessen in the Tri-Valley, I found Luccas on Unilocal. It’s located in Castro Valley and has parking behind the store. They make each sandwich to order. I tried their Deli Combo, Tuna, Corned beef and Pastrami. All were equally good because of the fresh bread and quality meats. Lot’s of combinations between the breads, meats, cheeses and toppings so know what you want, when it’s your turn to order.

Pick a number and browse the store. Get a good made to order sandwich for $ 6.00& up. The peppered turkey is great. A refrigerated/frozen section with Italian goodies to heat up at home; ravs, lasagna, sauces, spreads, salads, and bread. Large selection of dry boxed pastas, cookies, seasonings and Torani syrups. There is an area with tables to chow down lunch/dinner. Street parking and there is a lot in the back. If you are in a hurry I recommend calling in the order. This place gets busy during lunch time.

After reading all the reviews and bookmarking this place I finally got to try this place out. It can get busy so they have a number system. Pull a number and wait for it to be called. Tons of menu selections and other things to buy. This review is solely based on their deli sandwiches. I ordered the roast beef on a dutch crunch roll. First off dutch crunch is awesome but i remember it was always soft in the inside and has a crunchy layer on the outside. The roll i got was hard and not fresh. It taste a little stale. Meat portions are good and tons of ingredients inside. Prices is decent but the sandwich didnt have a wow factor. Its somewhat something i can make at home also. The lady that made out sandwich was super nice though. So if your in castro valley and craving a sandwich stop by here instead of togos or subways. Its defin better than those franchise sandwich shops.

Wow, I have been hearing about his place for a few months now and finally tried it, bet corned beef sandwich inhale ever had! I came in around 12pm on a Friday and it was slightly crowded, but not too bad. You need to pick a number before ordering our sandwich, they will call your number when they are ready to take your order. I added some pepperoccini to my sandwich and forgot to add on sprouts(which has been recommended to me as the way to go) oh well, next time! This place has been in castro valley forever and there are some real old timer castro valley folks still popping in today. What a great atmosphere, makes you feel like your not stuck in the Bay Area for sure :)

Me thinks not. Didn’t really enjoy my experience here, where my order was wrong and the staff was a little uptight when I came for my first time. It might just be the heat, but after the counter person noted my order, she managed to get it completely wrong and even asked for clarification of what she apparently wrote. It didn’t make any sense.

Having lived in NY most of my life, I can definitely say that Lucca’s is the closest to a legit east coast deli that I’ve sampled here in California. Maybe there are others(and if there are, would love recommendations!) but based on my past two experiences here, I am quite content to keep coming back. First of all, you grab a number if you’re going to order anything from the deli(sandwiches, sliced meat, salads, etc.) Don’t worry too much about the throngs of people just milling about-their wonderful staff works quickly and both times I’ve been there, it seemed they were properly staffed for a busy Sunday. A simple avocado sandwich is $ 5.75 and is piled with fresh veggies, ripe avocado slices, with your choice of a variety of rolls or bread. Both times I’ve opted for the sourdough roll-which is really a long sub roll. It’s an extremely good value with amazing quality. While you’re waiting to get called, take a gander at their unique array of Italian cookies, pastas, condiments and more! They sold an assortment of my favorite sprinkle and jelly cookies-made in NJ and reminded me so much of the desserts my grandma served after Sunday dinner. Love the slice of nostalgia Lucca’s offers and the sandwiches are amazing to boot! Friendly service, adequate indoor and outdoor seating along with a parking lot out back, round out this wonderful deli. Worth a stop if you’re anywhere nearby!

This is my first time at Lucca Deli and It was a great experience! When you go inside, it looks like a small Italian store with tables where you can eat and there are products in the middle of the store. If you go towards the back right side, that is where you order sandwiches and pay for other items. Before you decide on a sandwich to order, you have to pick a number. I went around 11am and there weren’t that many people ahead of me. There were about 4 – 5 ppl making sandwiches that made the experience a breeze! I ordered the pepper chicken in the Dutch Crunch Roll with avocado & cheddar cheese along with everything on it. All the ingredients were fresh and the sandwich was delicious! It only took 5 – 10 min for my order to be completed. The prices are reasonable too! I’m definately going back when I’m in the area!

On Saturday, 1÷17÷15, my girlfriend and I ate at Luccas Italian Delicatessen for lunch. Atmosphere: Refer to my previous review. Food: I ordered the Honey Baked Ham on Sliced Sourdough with mayonnaise, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, dill pickles, provolone and American cheese. I usually get the Baked or Boiled Ham. This was my first time trying the Honey Baked Ham. It was absolutely delicious! I liked the Honey Baked Ham a lot. It had great flavor. The Sliced Sourdough was soft and tasted fresh. All of the condiments complimented the sandwich very well. My girlfriend ordered her usual: Baked Ham on a Sweet Roll with mayonnaise, American Cheese and salt & pepper. She liked it a lot. She said her sandwich tasted really good. We also ordered the smallest size of potato salad. The potato salad tasted good. It was simple but good. Service: We got there around noon. They were jammed packed. We grabbed a ticket and only waited about 10 minutes before our number was called. They had a lot of employees making sandwiches which definitely shortened the wait. The lady that took our order was very nice. All of the employees at Luccas seem very nice. Overall: I’ve never had a bad experience at Luccas Italian Delicatessen. The sandwiches here are really good. Their meats and breads always taste really good and fresh. The Honey Baked Ham sandwich on Sliced Sourdough is my new favorite sandwich at Luccas. I loved it! If you haven’t tried Luccas Italian Delicatessen you shouldn’t wait any longer. It’s a solid sandwich place.
