Body Mechanix Fitness

I have been a member of Body Mechanix for 3 – 4 months now, and this place is incredible! I used to work out at a big box gym, but the classes at Body Mechanix are doing more for my body in the last 3 months, than my previous gym did for me in years. I feel stronger, more flexible, balanced, and energetic. You also begin to see physical changes quickly with the types of exercises and movements the classes teach you. I mostly attend Margaret’s evening classes, and she is always watching each individual to ensure you are doing the exercises correctly and in the right form IE: no one gets hurt! She also helps individuals with specific issues. For me it is my posture & shoulders that she continues to help me improve. This gym is a class act, and if you are looking for a dramatic change, but in a fun, hardworking environment, then SIGN UP! You will not regret it.

Working out with Margaret the day after Thanksgiving was better than any Black Friday sale!

So, similar to other reviews, I didn’t receive a returned phone call.
I actually went in, spoke with a trainer and gave him all of my contact information last week. He said he would call me Monday after 5PM. Still waiting– but I’m not sure I’m really interested anymore.
He also immediately started to sell me on individual personal training, instead of the group class.

Great place and great people. Marlon, Margaret, and Joe have taught me how to solve some chronic pain/​mobility issues in my lower back through core strengthening, stretching and «rolling». The group classes are challenging. The trainers are always willing to give advice and remind us to maintain proper technique to avoid injury and maximize results. The encouragement and support I get from the staff and other clients make me want to keep going.

Body Mechanix is where its at if you are training for the game of life! This group of trainers are dedicated and committed to making fitness a doable endeavor for everyone. Assessment, progress, encouragement, recovery, asskicking. I LOVE this place!!! They don’t play!

I have been training here for the past month and find this place to be a wonderful spot. All the staff is super nice, and appear to be very knowledgeable. I am however biased towards John because he is my personal trainer. John LOVES his job and this is apparent by the way he carries himself in the job and towards others. He is a sweetheart, always smiling and listens to my morning vents about my weight, work… life. He knows my ultimate goal and both encourages me and pushes me in every session. I love my workouts with him and I look forward to every single session.

Marlon and his team of trainers are awesome. They are not the typical gym trainers. Marlon and his team genuinely care about everyone’s well-​being. They take the time to listen and to help reach one’s goal. This team of professionals, will push past one’s comfort level in order to bring you one step closer towards that goal. They have heart, knowledge, and a great positive attitude. Stop in and meet this fabulous team. You’ll be glad you did. Let Marlon’s team guide you to a better, healthier you.

I am updating my review because Marlon (one of the trainers) reached out to me and explained that their system had been down due to making changes. Anyway, I’ve been attending classes regularly and have worked with Margaret, Marlon, & Joseph and all of them have been amazing! I would recommend this gym to anyone that is serious about getting in shape and wants a little extra attention. I am so glad Marlon reached out and showed me their true beliefs in customer service.

I can’t say enough great things about this place. My husband was the one who introduced me to Body Mechanix and I am SO glad he did. I am a mom to two small children so time is very limited for me. It’s amazing how much you can sweat in one hour! I try to attend classes at least 4−5x a week. I leave feeling great and fulfilled after every class! From the moment I walked into there, I knew it would be a great fit. Everyone is so knowledgable, friendly and motivational. It’s not like your typical «gym.» It’s more of a community. Right when you walk through those doors, everyone is so welcoming! And that’s not limited to just the trainers. The members come from all different walks of life, shapes, sizes, etc. but are there for one common goal. There is no judgment whatsoever. I love how everyone (trainers and members) help one another and there is no intimidation. I refer BM to everyone and anyone who is serious about a healthier lifestyle and done in a fun community based environment.

I’ve been going to Body Mechanix for several years for group classes. The trainers here, Marlon, Margaret, and Joe are very professional, inspirational and knowledgeable about every aspect of fitness and nutrition. I did some personal training with Joe due to my injured shoulder after getting no results from a physical therapist. He has done a lot of therapy as well as conditioning and training. Not only can I lift my arm over my head again and my shoulder is much better and I’ve lost body fat and inches. Great place to workout with good people. You rock Joe!!!

I have been working out with Marlon for a number of years and I love this gym and the people who work there. The clients are also really cool, interesting people. I often feel like its the best part of my day because of the fun and supportive environment. Just hit 23% body fat today (started at close to 35%).
I am a VP of Sales and take customer interaction seriously. We all miss returning a call now and then and I would cut the gym a tiny bit of slack. I have never stuck with a business as long as I have supported Marlon’s gym because he truly cares about my health, happiness and overall success. Marlon, Joe, and Margaret are first class people who know a ton about health and fitness. Give it a try! Stop in and just say hello!

Love this place. If your looking for a place that is more about socializing and showing off, this is not the place. If your looking for a place to really work out, then this is your place. I am so much more comfortable working out here than at a big chain gym.
I attend the 5−6am fit class with Joseph and he is great trainer. He is very professional and always makes me feel comfortable. He motivates me and my husband. He goes beyond to support me and my husband in staying fit and healthy. He will text in the morning if need it to make sure we make it to class. He will text me and my husband after to motivate us. He provides feedback and accountability. He knows how to push you past your comfort zone while keeping you safe from injury. During our class he is constantly giving us cues and feedback. A valuable attribute that Joe has is patience and you better belive it after working with me, is not easy…

JOE– Is my Trainer and I would have to say he’s the best for me… He listened to me the first day I came in there crying about my life story and how off track I allowed myself to get. Poor guy… LOL. But like he told me, I was taking the first step, and that was coming in and asking for help! I am so glad I did!
I have been training with him since the beginning of November 2014 and I already have great results. After 8 workouts we did a reevaluation… I was so shocked at the results! I have signed up for another month and I can’t wait for every Monday, Wednesday and Friday! He’s really nice– but knows how to push you when you think you «can’t do it»… oh yeah he doesn’t like that word at all!
He’s truly concerned for your health and well being in getting fit, for the first week he had me taking pictures of all my meals and sending them to him, so not only is he a great trainer but he is your Nutritionists, he will help you in any way he can. Eating healthy is so important to a fit body and to your workouts. I eat really well, so I was really lacking movement in my life. I’m very grateful for Joe and what he is doing with me! Love my workouts and the whole Gym is really nice. Joe and Body Mechanix is it for me! He’s easy on the eyes too and that’s a bonus!

I emailed and called and never got a return follow up except for them to say «someone will call you». That was weeks ago.

I love, love, love this gym, it is simple but very effective. It doesn’t have the typical big big workout machines you will find in other gyms but it does have trainers who are passionate about health, fitness and nutrition. Marlon, Joe and Margaret truly care about their clients and listens to them. They take the time to assess their needs and help them accomplish their goals. They will motivate you and give you all the encouragement and support you need to have a great workout.
I’ve worked with Marlon and Joe over the past few years and they are AWESOME!!! I truly value their expertise, wisdom, knowledge base and most importantly their patience. You can’t put a price on success and on making your dream a reality. Thanks Joe and Marlon for helping me realize my potential one training session at a time… love you guys.

My sisters have been raving about their new gym and trainer Joe and invited me to come and check it out with them.
I’m starting my 3^rd week there and I love it already. Joe is a good trainer and stays on you throughout the entire session making sure you’re getting your moneys worth.

I can’t say enough good things about Body Mechanix in CV. I’m not a gym-​goer, but my treadmill has been gathering dust ever since I poked my head into Body Mechanix on their opening day.
I was looking for a change, to amp up my fitness routine and this is it! Marlon, Margaret and Joe are excellent trainers and motivators — very knowledgeable, positive, friendly and tough (but in a great way). I DEFINITELY feel like I’ve worked out at the end of a group training class, which I regularly attend. Everyone makes you feel comfortable; there’s no «weirdness» or cliques like I’ve experienced at other gyms (and which is why I used to work out at home).
Margaret’s «shoulder rehab» program is helping me to overcome an old, neglected injury, and Marlon’s patented «roller» routine must be experienced to be believed. Joe’s morning class is the bomb and sets me up for a great day; I’ve seen him in action as a personal trainer and I want to try that next.
Overall, I am feeling stronger, more flexible, energetic and less stressed since I found Body Mechanix. I try to go 4 – 5 days a week — it’s that much fun… and I never thought I’d say that about working out!
Coincidentally, my husband discovered Body Mechanix the same day and we immediately started going together. Marlon has greatly helped him resolve his lower back issues and increase his flexibility. A big «Thank You» for that!

I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know head trainer Marlon Gomez and the entire Body Mechanix family. which is now my family. Not only have they pushed and helped me to reach my goals both personally and professionally. but have given me a platform for success. Without Marlon’s motivational training sessions I would not be where i am today. I highly recommend Body Mechanix and Marlon and his staff with 20+ years in the fitness business. If you are looking to get in shape or just become a better a person I recommend Body Mechanix Castro Valley.

I love this place. My best friend and I joined to drop a few pounds before my upcoming wedding and are so happy we did! Joe, Marlon and Margaret are all awesome, super knowledgable and extremely welcoming. Although getting up at 4:30am is not my idea of a good time, my hour at Body Mechanix is seriously the part of my day I look forward to the most. This is my «happy place». The personal training sessions with our trainer Joe are challenging, varied (we never do the same work out twice), and as much as I didn’t think I’d say it… FUN! I can absolutely feel myself getting stronger. Joe offers nutritional guidance, encouragement to push ourselves when we want to quit on a rep and checks in often to offer support through our weight loss journey. RUN, don’t walk to this place and check it out. They are offering some pretty sweet summer specials which is a nice way to start. But just be warned — once you start, you will be hooked!

I drove by this new little workout gym today and I decided to stop in to take a look. It’s a simple set up, with an artificial turf workout area, which is really nice for jumping and running. Margaret was very professional and polite. It is also not open for free workout so I’m sure that when you go in for your personal training and guided classes, there aren’t too many people there.
I would have given this place a 5 star because the summer special they were offering was really good, but in the middle of my conversation with Margaret one of the male staff members came up and felt my biceps; sizing me up for sure, and then began to ask me a whole bunch of «Bro Questions». If you don’t know what «Bro Questions» are, they are workout and gym related questions asked in a tone that is meant to make you feel intimidated and scared. I’ve worked out at numerous places around the East Bay, and I know how trainers are supposed to asked those kinds of questions, and this was not the proper way. Needless to say, I was looking to sign my fiancé’ up to take classes there, but I would not prefer for her to take classes from that guy. Hopefully it was just a one time thing from him, and I misinterpreted the whole interaction.

I recently joined with my friend and we absolutely love it! We enjoy the trainer’s and the one on one attention we get. Great workouts and they help with your nutrition as well
