It’s a beautiful location and a stunning golf course but the horrible service and uninspired food make it an awful experience. We had to constantly chase down staff to get drinks refilled and our food took over an hour and a half to make it to our table. It was somewhat busy and we had about 10 people in our party but that’s still no reason to be ignored by staff or the excessive time to get our food. I really wish new owners would take over. I don’t understand how place can be so poorly managed and the food so bland and boring and still remain in business. Avoid at all costs and hope that new owners take over soon.

My family has been eating here for close to 15 years(it’s practically my back yard). For the first time in that 15 years we walked out. It took 30 minutes to get drinks and another 45 to get our food. My sandwich was cold and the others orders were wrong. The quality has declined recently probably will go back but if this service continues I will never return.

I rarely submit reviews, but our group just experienced one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had when we went to the restaurant at the Ridge at Castle Pines on Saturday. We have been to this restaurant a couple times before because we like to enjoy a drink out on the patio and enjoy the views when the weather is nice. In the past, we have ordered drinks at the bar and the bartenders have been prompt and pleasant. On this occasion, we arrived and were seated promptly at 6pm at a nice outside table with a great view. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, after 20 minutes of being ignored I went inside to find the hostess. I asked the hostess if I could just buy drinks at the bar since we did not seem to have a server(the inside of the restaurant was basically empty and the 2 bartenders were standing there with nothing to do). The hostess said we needed to wait for our server and she would send him right out. He did come out a minute later and asked if we wanted to order drinks. He offered no apology for ignoring us for 20 minutes. We ordered our drinks and 10 minutes later we still had not received them. Again, I asked the hostess for help and she tracked down our server who finally showed up with our drinks. This time he apologized and blamed the delay on the fact that the bar was«backed up.» I knew this wasn’t true since I had just been in the bar area so I told him I did not appreciate being lied to and then I asked for a different server. The second server was better and the evening with our friends improved. That is until we decided to stay there for dinner. We have been told by many friends that the food at this place is terrible but we were having a good time and did not want to go somewhere else. Why didn’t we listen? In our group, we ordered a burger and coleslaw, two orders of beef brisket and one ordered ribs. The person in our group who ordered the burger said her food was fine. However, the three of us having BBQ food found our meals to be inedible. The lady who ordered ribs could barely cut them with a steak knife and she finally just gave up trying to eat them. The two of us with brisket found that our beef was basically all fat and no brisket and our baked beans were so cold it was ridiculous. It was impossible to eat. When we informed our server, we were told«sorry we are having a hard time with our food.» Another server felt bad for us and kept apologizing. She was clearly embarrassed at how bad our experience was, but seemed helpless to make it any better. When our group asked her, «How does this restaurant stay in business when the food is so bad?» she simply said«we have a great view.» Any decent restaurant would have offered to take these meals off our bill, but not this place. So, overall we found our service to be terrible, except for the local high school girls who tried hard to help. Sadly, all they could do was say«I am sorry.» In fact, we probably heard«I am sorry» more than 20 times during our incredibly disappointing visit. The saddest part is this place does have an amazing view and the area has so few good restaurant choices. If this place provided good service and served good food, we all agreed this place would be packed every night of the summer. Our group of four, who all live in the area, kept lamenting that it is too bad this place is so poorly run.

We had our wedding at The Ridge yesterday. Michelle, Tory and the rest of the staff were wonderful to work with. The food was exceptional and the service was top-notch. We had beautiful weather so our guests were able to enjoy the stunning views of Castle Rock and the mountains. Definitely recommend The Ridge for events!

Not quite sure how you can have a quality golf course and mix it with the worst food/service on the planet, but the Ridge has mastered this for over 10 years. I was told there was new management, so I gave it another shot but nothing has changed. The service was so bad we almost walked after waiting 20 minutes for water and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. Then after 45 minutes I noticed everyone that came in after us had their food. Then came the food… nothing better than picking large chunks of fat from my french dip and the ajus spilled all over the salad, but that’s ok because the lettuce was brown anyway. I should have just payed someone $ 50 to kick me in the balls instead of that hour and a half of Sunday bliss. Such a good view, but the food and service ruin it!

Stunning views and equally stunning bad service. 30 minutes of no checking on us and no water. Meanwhile, two of the three servers slowly wiped tables in the back and the server in motion focused on one of three groups exclusively. Tried this place before so knew if we were able order, it would be a long wait for marginal food. The menu is so uncreative it’s like they order freeze dried meals. This place should go on Bar Rescue, but it’s almost like they have a contract with the golf course and the less they serve the more they make! We walked out. It’s really tragic because we could use a great neighborhood place and the setting is fantastic.

We have been eating at the Ridge Restruant for about five years. We are done ever going there again The problems started about two years ago. Before that we could always count on good food and a friendly staff. Something changed. The menu started eliminating dishes. There was less wait staff. The food was not as good. By the end of last summer(2014), we felt things had gotten so bad we were not going back. Tonight for dinner we thought we would give it one more try hoping something over the winter may have changed things. It did not. In fact, the food was even worse and the service? Well I would say what service? Their formerly great Angus burger that we enjoyed for years was now sub McDonalds. This is NOT Angus beef! It was a high fat burger meat that cooked away to nothing. If you have fond memories of the old Ridge Restruant, they will only be memories. If you want a good meal… stay away from this place!

Whoa! I had the nachos just to try the place out. Man I had to take a nap after that meal. Not bad. My server who was just prefect always had a smile and kept me smiling. I came back just to see if it was always great. The food was still good but that girl was gone. I guess the restruant has a high turnover, that’s not a good sign of Management. Three visits and three different staffs. Mo Cooke was awesome gonna miss her. Anyway the food is decent, Staff is a little stale, Views are great and I’ll be back.

We finally gave up on The Ridge Bar & Grill. Last Friday, August 29th, we brought family to the restaurant to take in the views and enjoy drinks and dinner. After we waited at least fifteen minutes for our food server to show up, we finally walked to the bar and ordered our drinks. There were only a few other customers in the restaurant at the time. Servers were wandering through the restaurant on apparent missions but none of those missions involved serving food or drinks. My margarita tasted like someone had marinated the ice in dish soap. I could practically blow soap bubbles. Then, after twenty minutes, our server finally showed up. We ordered another round of drinks and asked what food she recommended, «It’s all good,» was her reply. Thanks for the insightful recommendation. She said she’d be back with our drinks and to take our food order. She was a no-show. Again! Twenty minutes later our drinks still hadn’t arrived. We went to the bar and settled our bill. We’ve been to this restaurant numerous times and we’ve been disappointed with the food and service every time. What keeps people coming here is the patio, the views and the golf. If your goal is to enjoy a drink on the patio as you take in the sweeping views, this is the place. If your plans are for a delicious dinner with prompt, attentive service, you will miss your putt in this restaurant. Management appears not to care. They believe the views will sustain business. Time will tell. Service: Double Bogey Food: Bogey Views: Eagle

Update: A couple of years later, I’ve had increasingly poor service at the Ridge. On a recent visit, we were there 45 minutes before we had drinks in our hand. At 7:30PM on a Friday. I think these guys have the best intentions, but may not understand how to staff or manage a restaurant. The views are still great, though. Original Review: The Ridge has a top-5-views-in-Colorado outdoor deck. Come here for drinks and dinner on the deck, don’t bother if you have to eat inside. Keep it simple with the food — nachos and burgers are better choices than steak and seafood here. Salads are decent as well, but you’re really here for the view, not the food. Service has been a little slow every time I’ve been in. Always apologetic, if that matters. Enjoy.

Our favorite«go to» restaurant to take out of town visitors. They have the best nachos in Colorado! Even our Texas guests rank it as their favorite!

We continue to show up at this place for the view and the patio dining on those beautiful Colorado mornings when that’s all you want to do. The food is what you would expect from a golf bar and grill and if you keep that in mind — you’ll be fine. The service continues to be baffling. And not for a lack of the number of persons wandering past your table of unfilled water glasses or plates not cleared. On Sunday morning they strictly adhere to the no breakfasts served past 10 am rule. So you’ve been warned. Go for the peaceful elevated views of Castle Pines and hushed conversations reserved for dining on a golf course — leave your expectations for notable food or service at the door and no one gets hurt.

I’m not sure what any of the other reviewers are referring to when they wrote about a limited or unimaginative menu… Yes the options are fewer than many other restaurants but this allows for a more diverse menu and better overall quality! The sashimi tacos are out of this world, the nachos are some of the best I’ve ever had(it’s the cheese!), and the reuben is top notch. Those are just a few of my favorites on the diverse menu, plus they have daily specials that are great! The staff is always pleasant and, as others have said, the view from the patio is spectacular. If you are ever here playing golf or just in the Castle Pines area be sure to stop in, you won’t regret it!

The wings are good. I’ve tried several items and that’s all I can say is good. The staff is friendly and always approach me to ask if I’m staying for dinner after a round. I always politely decline. It’s too bad the food isn’t good because a nice meal mixed with the beautiful view on the patio would be a nice ending to a great day of golf.

I love the atmosphere here and I have had a few nice lunches at this spot. The view is over the Ridge with gorgeous Mountain and golfing green vistas. The bartender pretty much handles the weekday lunch crowd. He was pleasant and efficient both times we visited. The menu is pretty basic so I stuck to a green salad while the hubby enjoyed a burger. Fine dining it is not, but for lunch it has a country club atmosphere and a laid back vibe. About 3 to 3 ½ stars for food balanced with scenic views and ambiance IMHO. :-) Might be fun for cocktails and apps on a nice night where you can sit outside on the deck overlooking the great view! I agree that it would be sweet if they kicked it up a notch on weekend evenings with a special chef. The atmosphere could handle a more elegant menu.

I am a frequent visitor to Colorado, specifically the Castle Rock/Castle Pines North area. I can say that I personally enjoy The Ridge, as does my family that live here and my fiancé. We are going to get married at The Ridge in October and cannot have made a better venue selection(unless we had 20,000 to get the Sanctuary down the road). Most of the food is delicious and I always end up eating here once or twice during my week long visits. The menus tend to be seasonal but they do keep a few great selections on the menu all year long. However, they could work on training a couple servers better, or just hiring better people because this last time we went, she got only MY order wrong and it took her 20 minutes after she brought our drinks to take our food order. Plus it took us flagging her down to take the order. Not acceptable at all. She will not be doing anything at my wedding.

This golf course is very nice but definitely not worth the green fees. There are several other courses to experience prior to this course.

Here we go again… another place in Castle Pines trying to be upscale. My experience wasn’t bad, but wasn’t memorable either. Notable fail is that the sugar packets on the tables probably hadn’t been changed since 2007 or so — contained some caked stuff(I assume sugar) but if the sugar packets are this way, what does that tell you? Best I can say is «respectable» but that’s just a nice way to tell somebody that they coasted by with a «C».

This could be such a wonderful place. And if you’re just looking for a patio with a fantastic view where you can relax and have a few drinks served by some friendly people, well, then this is the place. But if you want delicious food? Meh. Not so much. I wish the owners would/could hire an up and coming chef and let him or her just go to town with the menu and create something fabulous. Right now I can’t really recommend anything I’ve tried here — and we do keep trying. Because, seriously, the locale and view is top of the top notch. So I have to give it three stars for that alone. And the fact that there are so few really great restaurants on the south end of town(nay, the ‘burbs, actually), means there is so much potential here! But the food continues to be just okay. Unless you’re really, really hungry. Then it’s a little better than okay.

Evidently, John visited on a bad night. The Ridge Bar & Grill is a wonderful amenity in Castle Pines North. The food is good, the atmosphere warm and inviting and the staff is friendly. Price-wise it’s very reasonable. The patio, overlooking the 18th green, offers warm-weather dining and spectacular views. We dine there often and really enjoy it. I suggest you visit and decide for yourself. John can grab a burger at Wendy’s at the other end of the parkway.
