Great, well cared for course. Played here a couple of times over the last few weeks, and each time was as good as I could have hoped for. The fairways are in seriously good shape, the greens, however, are pretty beat up right now(it’s getting towards the end of the season, so I’m willing to look the other way). Played early in the week in the afternoon for less than 30 bucks, so I’m happy. Finished in around 3 hours or so, there was a twosome in front of me, but they were pretty quick and the weather was great, took the time to find some balls in the tall grass and enjoy the atmosphere(premium prices on the weekends means premium balls waiting to be found). Loved the couple holes with elevated tees on the back 9, particularly 17(love the creek in the middle that makes you think before deciding to drive it). All in all, one of the nicer courses in the Belleville /fairview /ofallon area, and a great value for someone with a free weekday afternoon.

Great staff very attentive. We host our National Sales Network Golf Tourney here every year. They are very accommodating and the course if simple beautiful. Very nice pro shop and good range and putting areas

This is one of my favorite courses. It’s more of a links type course. Open and easily drive able. If you want a tighter winding dog legging course try Stonewolf which is across HWY159(about 3 miles away). Both courses are gorgeous! Far Oaks is a great course but had always lacked in management. Typically, you will have long wait times, limited filled water jugs, unattended starter position, etc.

I went golfing at the course today for the second time, and I had a BLAST! Knowing last night that today would be a gorgeous day, my friends and I decided on going golfing somewhere near St. Louis. Our criteria for the ideal location was somewhere inexpensive(including golfing with a cart – as we’re immatures/amateurs), somewhat close, not too crowded, and somewhere where we could enjoy the sunshine. This Far Oaks Golf Club fit the perfect bill for all of these. We were able to book a tee time without any difficult for mid-afternoon. We each paid only $ 22 for 18 holes, and this price included the cart fee! In terms of golfing, we had an challenging though incredible amount of fun. We got better as the day went along, and I think part of why we could get better was because the course is difficult but not outlandish. There are red, white, blue, and black tees; we chose the white which offered a very fair challenge for our skillset(well…lack thereof). The course weaves in and out of neighborhoods with beautiful houses, and there are several dog-legs both left and right. The par 3s were my favorite because birdies are doable on all of them – and I even got one! The course was not crowded on this day, and I doubt it is crowded most days as it is somewhat out in the middle of nowhere. Our group of 4 allowed a few groups to play through us, and we still finished in about 4.5 hours. Like the previous reviews stated, there are no/few marshalls, but that didn’t affect us negatively at all. The club inside has a large food and drink selection, and the golf shop is everything you’d expect it to be. One thing I didn’t see out on the course was a water stand, which would have been nice. Other than that though, no real complaints from this guy. Great job, Far Oaks! I’ll be back shortly!

If I play at this course in the afternoon, I completely agree with John N’s review. They need course marshals. And the beer girls need to come around more often. That being said, I normally hit this course in the early mornings on the weekends and have never had a problem making it though 18 hours in just a few hours. There have been times that I have just skipped a hole because I don’t want to slow my play. The course is well taken care of, and is a challenging course at times. Really nice. I’ve spent many morning out there and will be back to play again!

Course was in decent shape in comparison to all of the other courses in the area but has the same problem as everywhere else… it takes forever to play!!! No marshals enforcing fast play rules. It took almost 6 hours to play which is F-ing ridiculous. They had a bachelor party 3 groups ahead of us and they were teeing off with 4 carts per hole. The Marshall never said a word to them. We quit after 16 holes which is terrible. The Walters courses have lowered prices in the afternoon which is great but this attracts yayhoos who don’t have any idea about course etiquette. If your going to lower rates to attract all types of players you have to send out Marshalls to monitor slow play. Right now the average Walters course afternoon round is 5 hours +.
