I would honestly give this place a negative star if I could! The staff was completely rude and unprofessional. They were worried more about their days off or their dinner date. I have never been here before and most certainly won’t be back. When ask if I could put the amount they were offering for more clothes on store credit, the lady snub and said «what? You want to put $ 3.40 on your store credit, really?» Never in my life have I been treated so poorly!

Smaller store that all of the others I have been into. Ok selection for toddler clothes– toys normally have a good selection. Overall, always stop in there to look around but don’t always walk out with things like some of the other OUAC’s!

Best kids consignment store in between Burlington and Cary. Best brands and biggest consignment store I’ve been to. Also not overpriced like a couple I’ve been to. I go here about once a month and live 45 minutes away.

EDIT: 2÷9÷2016: If you look at the reviews on Google, you will see that the person who made the fake complaints/​calls about me «Lillie N.» has now changed her name to «K.»
The person who harassed me, Kristina Nichols, quite obviously made all of those reviews and calls. And also, I was told that my W2 had been sent out on 1÷29÷2016. After it didn’t come by 2÷3÷2016, I had a family member pick it up. It had a postage stamp on it and there were at least 5 other W2’s in the stack. Why would it have a postage stamp on it if it was duplicate and the other had been «sent out»? Why haven’t we received the first one?
Because it was never sent out. I hope you guys know that that’s illegal and pathetic. It was simply to cause an inconvenience to me to come and pick it up, much like how it was with my last paycheck. If anyone who has been employed here is reading this and wondering why their W2 hasn’t came in, it’s because they didn’t send them out in the first place. Have someone in your family go pick it up. They’re just doing what they’re best at, which obviously isn’t running a business.
I thought I told you to remove my photo from this site. I’m a week away from calling a lawyer and saying that you’re using my photo without my permission, so that really does need to be gone soon. You’ve blocked me from making a review on facebook because I said things that people needed to hear. I don’t understand that, Isn’t that violating my freedom of speech?
I was fired for being harassed by somebody who continually made fake reviews and called and made fake claims. I feel like people need to know that you guys do that. And that in the year that I was working there, there were 5 – 8 people who were forced out because your store manager (who basically inherited the job, she’s yall’s sister-​in-​law… instead of actually working for it or deserving it) was jealous or insecure about them being there. The sheer amount of drama that occurred was ridiculous, and your customers should know about that. I apologize if it isn’t nice or pretty, but it’s what should and will happen.
So why block me from the facebook page, that’s all fine and good. But I’m honestly thinking about being in contact with Kelly, Ashley, Nina, Tyra, Brittany H and many others who were «forced» out from jealousy or some other petty reason. The Better Business Bureau cannot possibly think that that is a normal turnover for employees. I absolutely adore the store owner, Mary (she is the sweetest and nicest woman that exists… I wish I could have been calm enough to return her «This was a huge misunderstanding» phone calls after I was fired… but I was just too upset.) but I can’t keep my mouth shut when it comes to messing with somebody’s employment. So here I am. Don’t shop here. My current job gives me all the responsibility that I had here without treating me like complete sh-​t. I’m sorry, ladies. But you deserve better.

What a effing joke! The selection is overstocked with worn out clothing and the real insult is how little they offer for like new, top brand items. Unwelcome staff, felt like I was at the goodwill. Don’t waste your time. Sell in your neighborhood or on Craigslist — you’ll make more and won’t have to be in such a frosty crammed dirty store

The good: Large selection of all sizes, they pay up front, lots of gear and toys
The okay: Price are okay for used clothes — nothing to write home about
The bad: Hit or miss if they’ll actually be available to look at your items when you bring them in. I went in an hour before closing and they refused to look at my things. She stated that they don’t buy after 3 PM on Sunday even though they close at 5. Would have been nice if they said that on their web site as I did check beforehand.

I love this consignment shop the employees are super sweet and the prices are remarkably low for children’s toys and clothing.

In a nutshell: cold, unwelcoming staff. Overpriced items.
I called ahead to find out if they would take a specific item and they said yes. I arrived with said items and multiple bags of infant gear, books, maternity clothing, toys, etc, etc. They wound up NOT taking the items I said I was bringing (in decent condition) and only taking 2 items and giving me very little for them. They told me they couldn’t take a travel bed because they couldn’t find if the item was recalled. I’m almost 100% sure they didn’t even open it up to see what the name of the product was. I’ve consigned at a few children’s stores and this was the worst experience by far. The staff are not welcoming at all. They stared at me blankly as I walked in the store carrying A TODDLER and bags to the front desk. They eventually told me to put my bags in a specific spot as they commenced to helping the person who came AFTER me.
I had to ask someone if they were finished going through my item… instead of them calling my name. I understand that the are a franchise and can’t accept certain items, but many of my items were new in boxes. It just seemed as if they don’t really have the need for any more stuff or are looking for the cream of the crop top selling, expensive items to resell.
As for the items they sell, I’d say the best section is toys. The clothing is pretty overpriced. I’ve found great name brand clothing in excellent condition for a fraction of their price at thrift stores. They had clearance items but for limited sizes.
Unfortunately, I won’t even give this place a second chance.

Wow! We found some AWESOME deals in here. My daughter ended up with 11 outfits total and i didn’t pay an arm and a leg! If you care about name brands, than this is the best place especially since it’s all so gently used. Staff could have been friendlier but oh well.

I’ve been going her for years! We have even moved out of town and I still make trips to sell and buy. Very high end items at a very reasonable price. The customer service has improved greatly! I was working with the owner last visit and she was extremely nice and helpful! I wish they had bought more stuff but I know they have to buy only what they know they can sell! This place is a must for new moms!

Bigger than most of the other consignment places around here, with more selection and better clothes. Employees were helpful and friendly. Prices were reasonable.
My one complaint is that it is cramped, but the tradeoff is that it means they can fit more clothes inside.
There are more clothes here and fewer toys and gear than other places, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of. If clothing is what you’re after, this is the place to go.
My review is based only on my experience as a shopper. I haven’t consigned here so I can’t speak to how that goes.

Every time I come into this store I am disappointed by the staff. Regardless of the type of transaction the staff is never happy to see you or smiling. They always seem to act like it is problematic that you are there and that you are bothering them by your transaction. Always grey and gloomy demeanor.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff or the quality and selection of the merchandise at Once Upon A Child in Cary. You are greeted when you enter the store with a smile and a hello, and if they see you looking like you need help, they ask immediately if they can help.
When I take things in there for them to buy, they never treat me like it’s a chore like similar stores do. They act like they can’t wait to take care of me.
If I could give them a ten out of five, I most certainly would.

I have been here twice and can honestly say I will never go back. The staff is insanely rude and nasty! A lot of the clothes I saw were cheap brands being sold for the same amount you can buy them at new. The toddler jeans were WAY over priced. $ 9 for Children’s Place jeans? I can use a coupon and get them brand new. I noticed there was a ton of out of fashion clothing there, especially for the older kids.
The first time I ever went here I bought a few shirts for one of my daughters, when I went to check out the lady was EXTREMELY rude to me. She acted like I was annoying her by shopping there. I didn’t like it but figured maybe she was having a bad day or something.
I decided I would go back again to sell some clothes and things. The second I walk in the door one of the employees looked at me like she couldn’t be more annoyed that she was going to have to deal with me. I told her that I wanted to sell some stuff, having to deal with her nasty attitude through the whole conversation. I bring my stuff in and give it to them, and I was just walking around the store looking around while I waited. My son asked to sit on a power wheel they had there so I sat him down. He was literally was just sitting there smiling, and some girl at the counter put on the nastiest voice she could and told me that he was not allowed to play on that. I was like are you freaking serious? It’s meant for kids to drive around outside, what is my 1 year old going to do to it? They finally finished picking through my stuff, not sure why they took forever in the middle of the day on a Wednesday (maybe if they spent less time standing in a group chatting they would get their work done faster), and I probably could have gotten more for my stuff by just doing a garage sale.
Over all it was a terrible experience. And after sharing my experience with some friends they had very similar stories. Just do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Horrible experience with staff/​manager (?).
I’ve been to this store a few times over the past couple of years and each time has been a serious exercise in patience dealing with the frustrating, rude staff. Doesn’t matter if I went there to buy, trade or sell the staff all have a very condescending and rude attitude.
Yesterday took the absolute cake however when the manager (?) decided to argue loudly with me in front of other customers about the recall status of a baby bed I had brought in. When I went to put it up on the counter she told me that they don’t accept dirty junk and certainly nothing recalled. And I said «What item here is recalled» and she told me that the bed was and I said «No it’s not, there is one like it that is but this one is not.» And would you believe she stood there, raised her voice at me and told me to get my facts straight that it was recalled? I was mortified. (Furthermore none of my items were «dirty.»)
I gathered up the other items that I had brought in and left.
Too bad for her because I had other things in my car to sell to her, like designer clothing and a really nice pack n play and baby swing.
I ended up going up the road to Kid to Kid and what do you know? They looked up the bed and it was NOT recalled and they took every item I had, gratefully and graciously.
Long story short, I’d light my lightly used baby goods on FIRE before I’d sell to that rude lady at Once Upon a Child. I hope you read this review and make some needed changes lady. If not, you’re going to lose A LOT of business because mommy circles in this area do talk.

We stumbled on this kids consignment shop completely by accident; really just the right place, right time. The selection for our 12 year old was fantastic and the prices were great. We also picked out a few infant items for a friend and found some adorable baby items.
Perhaps it doesn’t happen very often that a dressing room is required, but for a blossoming middle-​schooler, trying on clothes is just about a necessity. The one bathroom in the shop seconds for the only dressing room, so we had to wait for the little ones to take their bathroom breaks before we could try anything on.
I do have to say it was pretty neat that there was a small play section with books and toys that the kids enjoyed while mommies shopped.
In looking over the other Unilocal reviews for this store, I should mention that we had no contact with staff other than just to pay. The cashier was not overly friendly; polite… just doing her job. Had I read the reviews, I probably would have been more attentive to others experiences. However, nothing out of the ordinary for us.
We also like the Goodwill around the corner, so even though this place is out of our way, we’ll most likely be back.

Ok, ok, I take it back. In my last review of this place, I disagreed with a previous reviewer that the owner/​manager and staff were rude and nasty but admitted that they did seem «uninspired» as the other reviewer stated. But today, the manager (at least I think she’s the manager), appeared almost resentful and hostile from the second I stepped foot in the store with my stuff and one year old. She was so rude and unwelcoming when I brought in my items that I actually looked at her and said «you guys just aren’t easy to work with are you?» and trust me, I never call people out like that! As soon as I said that, her tone changed and she was slightly nicer and told me to wait just a few minutes while they went through my items. A few minutes later my name was on the dry erase board (meaning they finished sorting my items) with a big smiley face next to it. I got a few bucks for my items (they were pickier than usual– imagine that??) and I walked away doubting I’ll go back anytime soon. And the only reason I’d go back is because they do have a large, affordable selection of clothes for my 7 and 1 year old. It’s a shame their customer service is so poor.

A friend recommended this place to me while I was pregnant. A few observations:
1. They seem to have A LOT more clothing for older children than for infants.
2. They seem to have A LOT less merchandise than Kid to Kid in Cary, so go there first.
3. The staff are really not very inspiring. I needed a price on something and, I kid you not, the woman behind the counter was filing her nails and I had to call for help twice before getting her attention. I then asked if they had something and not only did they fail to offer to look for it, they seemed utterly irritated that I interrupted their conversation.
4. Their prices are really reasonable. Worth going, because if you do find something you’re looking for, it will be a great deal.
5. Things are really organized.
6. The condition of their items seems to vary in terms of wear, so buyer beware.
Worth going, but not as great as Kid to Kid.
