Was happy to find a nice friendly local Irish pub, although the food didn’t seem very Irish apart from some dishes. Mainly Americanized. But still very tasty. The lamb burger was one of the better ones I’ve had in a long time. The potato appetizer was so fresh, not too oily, not too fatty. Fish and chips were alright, for American standard(still looking for a place that serves chips instead of French fries). The desert was top notch. Free refill on the coffee. I was surprised it was so empty in the evening, we were the only table and there were a couple of people at the bar. Our waiter Zach was great and sooo energetic and bubbly and very excited to be working at Hibernian — this was nice to see. Hibernian is reported as closed on Unilocal, hope this is not true?! I want to come back and try more food!

The Hibernian is my go-to place in Cary I just tried crosstown Pub and Grill it sucked the Hibernian rocks. Hey but I must say that the Irish breakfast platter came out the last time — the brown bread was missing and had frozen hash browns that had been fried on the platter I thought that was a little tacky. SO when my son and I come to watch soccer and have Irish breakfast and I have a Hibernian tasty Highland Gaelic ale from asheville… we want to play darts. Here’s the problem they won’t let anybody that’s not a regular play with their crappy ass darts. So I guess we will have to go out and buy ourselves a set of darts and then try to play on their dartboard… one board for the whole restaurant. This needs some improvement if the Hibernian wants to compete with craft breweries like Fortnight and Double Barley, Raleigh Brewery and so many others in the area they’re going to have to make themselves a destination they’ve been around for quite some time and if you ask me they need a little bit of a facelift. Thanks still the Hibernian addict.

Good beer, friendly service. The burger special is a fantastic value. The burger itself was really good; well-prepared, great flavor, fresh brioche bun. The macaroni and cheese, however, was abysmally bland; salt and pepper made it barely edible.

Good Gosh. What happened to this place? It looks like it’s going out of business! There used to be a decent breakfast buffet, but today’s looked and tasted like it came out of a public middle school cafeteria. Most interesting was the lukewarm shepherds pie — looked like cat food topped with some decorative instant mashed potatoes. Yech. Liquor was also an interesting adventure. Most of the products listed in the menu are not available. As we were leaving, the man behind us was served a burger with a shard of hard plastic on top if the patty, Music is gone, too. Now they trivia. So sad.

Quick bite to eat with the boy and the Mrs. Service from Melissa was excellent. The fish and chips were a little soggy this time around but taster. They are usually better. The ruben was great and my son loved his usual bangers and mash.

I came here for a trivia night, so my experience may be distorted. For instance, I thought the service was quite slow, but I think they wanted us to take our time during the trivia night, so they staffed fewer servers. Still, our server was nice, but she just came over less often than we would’ve liked. The food was pretty slow, but she brought the drinks over rather fast, so I assume that’s a kitchen issue. At least the hostess was ready and very polite. The trivia night host seemed light-hearted and sassy, but I really wish we didn’t have to sit through an entire song to think of an answer… the game took 2.5 hours. Otherwise, the trivia here is pretty reasonable, and we had a good time. The other teams also seemed really chill. They play with 5−3−1 and 6−4−2, just like Chow and some other places. I believe the top 3 get prizes(we were 4th place, so we’ll definitely be back to get that prize!). I was pretty impressed with the food! I ordered the half chicken, which is easily seasoned wrong, but Hibernian did a surprisingly good job for a pub – better than some nicer establishments I’ve been to! I don’t think the chicken is of the highest quality, but the meat dishes are pretty cheap after all. Overall, rather impressed.

Bring back the proper Irish brunch buffet because the current brunch menu doesn’t work. Also, I ordered the corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s day and it was a way to pricey for what you receive. $ 14 for a small portion. That’s a gouge. The owners should know better. The brunch buffet that they used to have was fantastic and had boxty, corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, salmon, salad, eggs, shepherds pie, bacon, sausage, potatoes etc. It was excellent. What they have now is not good.

I enjoyed the atmosphere during the St. Patty’s day celebration. The cod was pretty good too. I’ll be back

Hibernian has been relatively the same for 10 years. The best hot wings in Raleigh. The best corn beef in North Carolina. Good beer. Friendly staff. All good!

My husband and I were excited to try the Hibernian on a cold rainy Sunday. The restaurant was fairly empty and after waiting over 10 minutes without being greeted after being seated we decided to leave. There isn’t an excuse for this lack of customer service on such a slow day. Happy to have taken our business elsewhere.

Sloppy… that is the adjective to best describe this pub… from the décor, dusty and moldy in appearance to the way the food is presented on the plate. Food took forever to come out of the kitchen on a rather average busy Sunday. When it did arrive it was a bit sloppy… massive portions of mediocre tasting grub. My lamb burger was good, but just the burger, the sides were eh, OK at best. The oatmeal our daughter ordered had to be sent back to the kitchen. Maybe they could use the stuff to spackle holes in the restaurant wall or use it for insulation. The place is in desperate need of a good spring cleaning also. I know bars are bars, but hey they serve food here. SaleebScore: Food: 4⁄10; Atmosphere 4⁄10; Value 5⁄10.

I have had a genuine love/hate relationship with this establishment over the years. I have always wanted to like it but they kept letting me down. I have fortunately found the sweet spot and have a great love for coming in here lately. I have added this place to my top three burger places in the Raleigh area and it may even be my favorite. They do an outstanding in-house meat blend. The temp is always perfect. The bun is extremely fresh. My favorite is having it topped with Irish bacon and Blue Cheese. Serve this up with chips(fries), a cup of their Irish stew, and a pint of your choosing, you have a perfect meal. I have been to the Ashley Christianson restaurant«Chucks» and have been impressed there as well. The presentation at both is equal. Chucks wins on interesting creations. However, the Hibernian beats Chucks when it comes to the flavor of the beef. The Hibernian also has a better price point and I believe they have a weekly burger specials. FYI, my friend came into town from VT and had their lamb burger and loved it.

Me: «Customer service 101 says you take a little something off the bill to reflect the bad experience. If nothing else to contain the damage.» The manager: «I didn’t think there was anything to contain. You said you were never coming back.» And thus sums up a breathtakingly bad experience at Hibernian. It was our second, and last, visit. What was wrong? 1. The waitress took our drink order, but forgot to put it in… and forgot what we ordered. 2. The waiter took our drink and dinner order, but forgot to actually put in the appetizer order. 3. The drinks still took forever to come out. 4. The Arnold Palmer didn’t appear to have the alcohol in it that was promised. 5. The fries were served without the ranch that was promised, and took forever to come out. 6. Once the ranch arrived, the food arrived two minutes later, thus negating the entire«appetizer» concept. 7. My burger — a Paddy Melt, was wrong. So I got to watch my wife eat while I waited for a new paddy melt. 8. The replacement paddy melt was delivered by the manager. I wouldn’t have known that unless I asked, but I asked so I could convey the poor experience thus far. The manager’s reaction and body language indicated she didn’t care. 9. My wife’s Reuben was average at best. My paddy melt had soggy bread. Meh. 10. It took too long to get the bill, and when we did, it wasn’t adjusted to reflect our experience. Even a little nod — say, comping the drinks.- would have been enough. 11. Once the bill was received, it took so long for him to retrieve my credit card I had to go ask for the manager. 12. I gave the manager an update on our experience, and the line above was her reply. In response I handed her my card and the bill to be charged. 13. I waited another 8 minutes, then finally had to wander the restaurant. I actually had to knock on the kitchen door to get my waiter’s attention. It was then I was told that the meal was complementary and my credit card was returned. Gee. Thanks. Incidentally, the damage that could have been contained comes in the form of broadcasting my message far and wide on social media. (as a side note, another customer actually stopped and thanked us for complaining… so we were not alone in our trials)

It’s changed a lot since my first review. The menu is a bit shittier, more fried stuff. I used to love the Galway. I don’t eat meat anymore, but even if I did, it’s not on the menu. I had the veggie burger when I was here the last time, because I’m into avocado, but honestly not even avocado could save it from being bland and mushy. I guess if you’re into soccer or something this could be a cool place. Or maybe if you live in Cary and there’s just not many more options around? I’m not sure.

If you are looking for Shepherds Pie or Bangers and Mash you won’t be disappointed. However, if you have anything else, you may be a little disappointed. If you look at the rest if their menu, you wonder why half of it includes jalepenos. That’s not really what I am looking for at an Irish Pub.

Best Irish pub I’ve ever been to! Offers a great variety of food that tastes great! Personally, I like to get the Irish Stew or fish and chips, while my wife loves their nachos. The atmosphere is casual, and the staff is always attentive.

Cool décor, nice vibe overall, but had a couple issues. Twice now, this place has taken liberties with my order to squeeze out a little more money. Trying to make these stories brief: First time I was told a drink I was ordering was on special — that didn’t happen. Next time my girlfriend asked for«a side of pub chips», even pointing to it on the menu, and was brought a huge plate with cheese and bacon on it(appetizer size). By the way, we don’t eat bacon. We’ve been to this location twice — each time resulting in an eye roll when we got our order/bill. Small change, but just annoying. And it makes you wonder why they don’t make mistakes that AREN’T favorable to them… Even so, 3 stars out of 5 seems fair.

A nice hangout bar, with pretty good food. I haven’t been to many Irish pubs where I am love with the food, so pretty good is high praise for an Irish pub for me. Service has always been good here, both with the waitresses and bar tenders. I ordered a crispy fish sandwich here recently and it was good, although basically just fish and chips with the fish placed across a bun. This location is different from the download location in that it isn’t exactly happening. Usually not very crowded, and I was recently there on a Saturday night and things started winding down around 9:30. I think they used to have live music on the weekends. Not sure what happened to that, but they need to bring some life back to sleepy family oriented Cary.

I am giving stars for the artfully done Irish pub feel with artifacts and remnants from Ireland past and the service. BUT, I was pretty disappointed in the food and the menu. For an Irish styled pub the Irish fare was relegated to a back page and had five selections. All the usual suspects but it seemed like an afterthought. I love boxties and chicken dishes and those were not done Irish style. So I had to eat regular pub food. Ordinary all the way. The black bean burger was dry, and tasted overly spiced with a dry seasoning. It didn’t taste fresh and no amount of toppings could have saved it. The turkey rueben was okay but mostly bread. Such large slices that I ended up taking the top off to get to the meager filling. I found the beer selection very limited. I found something I liked but none of my regular favorites were featured. I doubt I’ll go back as I don’t live in the area though I did like the museum quality displays. But the food needs definite work and I’d have to bring my own beer.

At one time i would say I was a regular at the Hibernian. Back in the day this was one of the best places to grab a drink in the Cary area. After being away awhile it’s always nice to revisit those old hangouts and reminisce. Overall the place hasn’t changed much it could definitely use a few updates from the outside in, but hey its an Irish pub so I can forgive. They have updated the menu and the food is pretty decent. I had a delicious BLTA and bloody mary on my last visit. I’m also a big fan of their stuffed mushrooms! The service is always good. They have a good selection of beers, a full bar, and plenty of room to sit inside or outside on the patio. If you like live music come check out the Hibernian on a Friday or Saturday night I have heard some really good people jamming out in here. Hibernian is also a go to for some late night food they have a good selection to order from and it always hits the spot. If your hanging out in Cary for the night give this place a try!
