Great breakfast, service, and value. Plus they have really weird coffee carafes!
Most of their meals include coffee, which is where you usually get fleeced when you get breakfast.

This is the perfect example of what a small town restaurant should be.
It’s all about expectations. It’s quite clear this establishment caters to locals, not travelers. It’s not convenient to the highway and makes no promises about being the best at anything. It’s the type of place with many regulars who are more than happy to come in every day and sit in the same seat they’ve been sitting in for the past 20 years. It’s not there to impress, win awards or drum up a truckload of new business. And all of those things make it perfect. The service is friendly and moves at a relaxed pace. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry. Go with the understanding that locals who go here are not in a rush to do anything. The food is delicious and clearly cooked by someone who has been making the same dishes for many years. I was impressed with how well my eggs over easy came out. It’s rare that I find a place that cares enough to really get the temperature just right, but they passed with flying colors, no doubt due to years of experience.
If you’re looking for fine dining, speedy service or elegant surroundings, go somewhere else. If you want a taste of local, small-​town relaxation, you won’t be disappointed.

This place is no frills, for sure. They even have a sign on the front of the entry way proclaiming it to be simple food served quickly or something like that… no big customer service promises. That was fine with me. We recently stopped in for a quick breakfast and Pancake Hut didn’t disappoint. The coffee (two cups followed up with a large carafe for our table) was FREE and the waitress brought large glasses of water, too, without our request for it. Loved that. For less than 5 bucks each, my boyfriend and I both had the Southwest breakfast which wasn’t too authentic but featured a pile of fluffy rice with black beans, a couple of omelet-​style scrambled eggs with onion and bell pepper and cheese sauce on top, and two huge tortillas to wrap it all up. Bowl of decent salsa accompanied our meal. I’ll be back when I’m in Carthage and want breakfast. It was better than I expected (all around).

I really liked my server! She was very friendly. I received my food promptly hot and fresh. I ordered a ham and Swiss sandwich. Very tasty! Reasonable prices. I highly recommend!

On our cross country road trip we found this little place. I ordered ham with scrambled eggs, pancakes and a cup of coffee. I only enjoyed the ham, all else was not tasty to me, not even the coffee! Everyone seems super friendly. One huge turn off was that the waitress fingernails were filthy, like wow.

I love the Pancake Hut! The friendliest people eat here and the staff is friendly too. We first came in 2009 and met the server Jessica, now passed on. This time we met her aunt.
Good home town food. I love Carthage MO!
