Environment inside was you’re typical hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. The staff was friendly, the food not to good had some pains around my stomach all night. Recommend eating something simple like fries with chicken wings.

One of my favorite Chinese food spots in Carteret. Food is always good and reasonably priced. Everything is good except there general tsos and sesame chicken not the best. Staff friendly but always doublecheck your bill at this place

Lunch specials are cheap and more than enough food. I would not recommend the mu shoo pork as I found the meat to be lacking. I’d say the food is above average for a Chinese to go place(note, they do have table inside if you care to stay and dine).

Not good. General chicken dry, fried rice yellow rice? No flavor at all. Disappointing after all of the good reviews. Maybe Sunday nights aren’t the best night to go.

Wish I could have given a higher rating but they nickle and dime you now for every little thing. I guesss what really irks me is that they regularly dont tell you what they charge extra for until you get the bill and you question it. At least if they tell you when you place your order that its going to cost you xx. xx more to have this or that prepared a certain way you can decide if you want it. Hong Kong Chinese restaurant has been under new ownership for the past several months now. Although the new owner has certainly improved the quality of the food somewhat, they also raised the prices considerably as well.

Great place, just wish they took credit cards so I don’t have to go to the atm all the time lol

I was traveling through NJ and stayed in Cateret for the evening. Went on Unilocal to look for a restaurant. Saw the great reviews for Hong Kong and decided to give it a try. Very pleased. Got shrimp w black bean sauce and tofu w veggies for my wife. Still warm after delivery. LOTS of shrimp and the veggies still crisp. Not too salty either which was much appreciated. Only drawback: more variety of veggies in shrimp dish. Too many green peppers. No mushrooms or broccoli. Tofu dish had more interesting variety of veggies. Will definitely order from here again. Oh! And the best part was that both fishes came to $ 15.00. With generous tip and delivery it cost me $ 21 total.

We were on our way home from Boston and wanted to eat a decent chinese food. I was skeptical when we arrived at the restaurant because the physical appearance was less than decent. But to my surprise, the food was so delicious, not too much sodium, and the prices were very cheap!!! We spent $ 38 for the six of us — you can’t beat that anywhere!!!

This place no joke saved me from one of the worst days ever! We had been at the airport since 5 am from new york and were flying standby, so we waited at the airport till 8 pm the entire time. We ate over priced Wendys and 3 dollar bottled waters. By the time we got to the hotel(We could not spend another minute at the Newark airport), the sweet lady at the Radisson gave us a bunch of take out menus and we chose Hong Kong Restaurant. I was skeptical because it was so insanely inexpensive and well I didn’t have high hopes for Cateret, NJ Chinese Food. I took a shower and it was there by the time I got out. The delivered straight to my Hotel Room. Super quick service and the total was: 11 something with tax and tip. I got pepper steak with onions, chicken and broccoli, hot and sour soup and egg drop soup and it was all delicious and instantly put me in a better mood. I def recommend getting some Chinese food from here, and it’s better than normal run of the mill«americanized» chinese food. I spent an arm and a leg in Manhattan, and it was so nice to spend 11 bucks on an insane amount of yummy food. Now if only this place would serve me a first class ticket all the way home to Oregon, then I’d give them more stars :). Thanks Hong Kong restaurant for saving me from being super HANGRY.(hungry + angry).
