Rene and his team replaced our 1970s style open stairs with a beautiful new staircase. The main reason we went with them was that Rene went beyound our concept of how we wanted the stairs done to tell us a Better way to do it. Finished on time and the product is great.

After my contractor failed to tell me that he is no expert on stairs and railings, mid way through the first half of my stair case. Mind you I pointed out that the rail was not at an even slope anyway I started to look for alternative options. This is my second home remodel and I now know that stairs and railings are very unique items and a very niche construction group. Before I let the project continue I researched and found a few staircase specialists in Orange County. After several quotes and tests of professionalism I chose the best service and it happen to be the he best price. Rene of Contour Stairs is a stair and rail expert, knew all the codes, styles and techniques to fix or create a masterpiece of a stairway. I called him he answered and quoted me over the phone with simply a picture of my project. He came over 2 days later on a Sunday at 6:45am and finished the entire project by 12pm. The best parts: he matched my hard to match dark wood floor stain and used premium product. I had already met with 4 other companies to remodel our old 1975 open carpeted staircase with white metal railing and then fortunately found Contour Stairs on Unilocal and read their great reviews.
Right from the start, the process with the owner, Rene was different. He was super responsive and helpful — sending photos of stairs with explanations and ideas for us to consider. He met with me, brought samples, offered feedback and gave references (whom I called and they couldn’t say enough good things about Rene). I had an idea of what I wanted for the house– something classic, that fit with the architecture and was just generally interested in the process and Rene was so good about answering many, many questions. Unlike other companies, he quickly provided a quote, followed-​up thoroughly and continued to check in, finalizing small details and working with our budget. I also liked that he told us what to expect exactly, kept us updated along the way, was ALWAYS on time, kept things as clean as possible AND actually finished the job when he promised — in 4 short days! The amount of work that they do everyday is impressive! And he was so professional, courteous and flexible– working around us and our three small children.
I think what sets Rene and his company apart is that he does the work, he really enjoys his craft, likes working with people and helping them improve and enhance their home and takes a lot of pride in his work.
Thanks to Rene and his brother Israel, we see a beautiful staircase with hardwood treads, white risers, hammered rod iron balusters and an elegant continuous wood rail when we walk in instead of an eyesore– they transformed it. I’ve already recommended him to a neighbor for their stairs and to a friend for a mantel and can feel good about referring him because of his high quality materials, amazing craftsmanship and admirable work ethic. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Rene and his company. The entire process from consultation to completion took place in less than a week and the final product is flawless and exactly what I dreamed of and imagined. I was out of town during the construction and Rene sent me numerous picture to keep me up to date on the progress, and made sure the stain of the wood was exactly what I wanted. I can hardly believe how much better our entire place looks with this upgrade. In fact my husband just came down the stairs and proclaimed, «Wow! This is a beautiful staircase.» Thank you for the fantastic work.

We were lucky enough to stumble across Contour Stairs when researching contractors to give our 1965 staircase a much needed update. Fortunately for us, everything we read on Unilocal about Contour Stairs was true. Rene could not have been more responsive or professional. Our stairs came out even more beautiful than expected. Contour Stairs started our project exactly on time and finished exactly when they projected. We could not be more pleased and would not hesitate to use Rene and his company again!!!

Rene and his brother are true professionals and unbelievable artists!!! For years my husband was unhappy with our staircase and each year we remodel /​update something in our home. This summer, we decided that it would be our staircase that needed remodeling… it was the best decision ever! When I called Rene (the owner), he immediately returned my phone call. Not only that, he was extremely responsible and punctual, as far as getting back to me and meeting my husband and I; definitely a man of his word! Rene was extremely patient, takes time to explain everything, was very respectful before and throughout the project, always made helpful suggestions, and he had a ton of references in which he provided. After much discussion, my husband and I came to the conclusion that he would be the best contractor for us (however, we got 2 quotes from previous individuals, but we chose Rene because he was the whole package). When the decision was made, Rene literally started that week. Now let me say, this was a huge project, and Rene and his brother completed this project in 4 days and put in 12 hour days (they showed up every day on time, sometimes earlier than the specified time). They always cleaned up, covered up all my furniture, and they were sure to fix the walls with texture that needed attention. Let’s just say that I highly recommend Rene and his crew! Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Besides using excellent quality materials, they have an amazing work ethic. Again, they are true artists and TRUST me, they will deliver what you expect! Rene is an awesome communicator and listens to what you have to say. In addition, Rene has the best advice and provides valuable feedback in which he incorporates his years of experience. Basically, they far exceeded my expectation!!! We LOVE our new staircase and ALL my family and friends LOVE it too!!! They were AMAZING and now we have our dream staircase that made our home look like a model home!!!

For 19 years I’ve hated our stairs. They were builder grade with far too many cheap looking American colonial spindles and did nothing to enhance the California Mediterranean style of the house. I interviewed several stair contractors before selecting Rene, the owner of Contour Stairs. None of the others approached my stairs with the same interest and attention to detail as Rene did. In my first meeting with Rene, I could see that he took great pride in his workmanship. He also had a keen eye for design and immediately had very helpful suggestions to help achieve the look I wanted. He was very patient and met with me several times as we finalized the design.
OMG, I could not be more thrilled with my new stairs!!! They are elegant and simply beautiful. They have transformed the look and feel of the house. Rene’s design suggestions were spot on and the quality of the workmanship is just outstanding. I would have been thrilled enough just based on the quality and look of the stairs. But Rene and his brother Israel were also prompt, very concerned with taking good care of my house during the renovation and completed the stairs on time. If you are looking for hard to find excellent craftsmanship, you have definitely found the perfect professionals for the job!!!
I had my 1990 stair case brought back to life because of Rene and his crew. Rene was excellent. He was patient, explained the process in detail, went over options with me and listened to what I was hoping to achieve in the look for my home. Let me tell you, the results were beyond my expectations… I was absolutely blown away!!!
The entire job was extremely fast and painless considering how much demo and rebuild was involved. The crew came in early and on time daily and got the job done in less than 3 days. It was amazing to watch. Each crew member worked in sync with one another and handled what was involved considering all the details.
It’s hard to find people willing to put as much effort, skill and detail into construction and woodwork now days, but with Contour Stairs you’ll find all the above and more. I was worried that the stain would be difficult to match between my floors and the stairs, but the end result was seamless and beyond perfection.
Not only did they build me the staircase of my dreams, they gave me a work of art. I couldn’t stop staring at the final product for hours after it was completed. Still, it’s hard to believe what can be done in the small time frame it took.
The amount I spent was reasonable and we were able to work a price that was suitable for my budget considering prices now days for good, hard labor and expertise.
I highly recommend Contour Stairs to anyone looking to improve their stair case. It’s completely worth it and I assure you, you will not be disappointed. He turned my staircase from an ugly duckling, half carpet– half wood, out of date staircase, into a beautiful swan of a staircase that is a hardwood show stopper.

We met with Renee (owner of company) and he worked with us on the cost of what we needed done as well the scope of the work. Did a wonderful job at completing the work in a timely manner as well since we needed it done within 2 days before moving into our new home. I will say this is the best company around that does staircases that look like a million bucks. We have had more compliments on the staircase than anything else in our home. You can’t go wrong with them since they do the work in a timely manner and they will do what you want and they do a complete job! I would give them 20 stars if I could!

We first met Rene about a year and half ago when we were taking bids to redo our stairs. His was our third estimate, his ideas and inputs to our basic plan was the key to our decision to selecting Contour Stairs. We were not disappointed. Our stairs are the first thing you see when you walk in our front door and we still love them. The skill and craftsmanship of he and his brother Israel is amazing, they are a GREAT TEAM! They were always on time and one day put in 16 hours to complete the job ahead of schedule.
We have hired them twice since to build a frame for our new expanded granite counter top and a wet bar cabinet. Same story. We love their work. Rene and Israel are not just contractors, they’re craftsman who take great pride in their work, treat you with respect, and your home as if it was there own.

Rene came on time, did a great job, and cleaned up when complete. His work is as good as the pictures that are shown on his website. He only did my banister as I already had a contractor for my stairs. I wish that I had found him sooner.

After interviewing several contractors, I went with Rene of Contour Stairs. What a GEM he and his crew are. Showed up ON TIME every single day. CLEANED UP every single day. Most people know how unusual that is for contractor-​types. He listened to what I wanted, worked long days with his small but effective crew, and made my stairs a showcase centerpiece in my home. I don’t live in a ‘high class’ area where the remodel was work $ 25−30k, but Rene treated me as if I mattered as much as one of those jobs. You will NOT be disappointed in his work if you go with this company!

Rene of Contour Stairs recently finished my staircase & fireplace & they are beautiful — looks like a magazine! I searched for several months and interviewed no less than 8 contractors. What impressed me the most about Rene was his personal involvement and commitment to the job.
