Third time here, the food was excellent as always, fried oysters? Yes please. However, the service this time around kind of fell apart. First got there and placed our order, food was delivered quickly, then the waitress disappeared, I flagged her down and told her we wanted more food. She took our order and then we never saw her again. Then a different waiter brought me the bill. I politely told him we still had more to order and we already told the waitress. He apologized and took our order again. To be honest, he didn’t charge us for one roll, but I’ve never had this kind of issue here.

Hubby and I have been to Tomo a few times now, and it never disappoints. We always get the All-You-Can-Eat dinner for two. The appetizers are delicious, and then we move on to the longs rolls and nigiri. The fish is very high quality and never fishy, the rice to fish ratio is excellent, and the overall experience is very pleasant every time. We’ll keep on coming back!

Finally, a sushi place that is NOT an all-you-can-eat-RICE spot!!! By far, the best all-you-can-eat sushi spot… and sushi, in general. It’s very affordable for what you are getting. The fish is always fresh. The rice breaks apart in your mouth, and not clumpy. Also, the cuts and pieces are small. not a giant glob of mush. It’s made properly. I eat sushi a lot. I’m also a sushi chef. This place does it right and it’s consistent. I’m so happy to be a diner here.

Small section but good quality. Service is slow for table service and you don’t always get all of your ordered food when you sit at a table.

I’ve only been to Tomo once with some of my family. We were really excited to try out a new sushi joint here in Carson, but all three of us were mildly underwhelmed with this place. I’m seeing a lot of bad reviews about the employees but on this particular night, the service was fine. Our orders were taken and brought out in a timely matter even though the dining area looked a bit busy. Everyone was friendly and accommodating to our small trio and there were no payment issues. We were unimpressed with the food selection, however. Everything we ordered seemed to either be lacking in taste or just had a completely«off» flavor. It wasn’t terrible, but it certainly wasn’t the best we’ve had. Still, I try not to judge just by one experience, so I may find myself here again sometime.

We eat at Tomo a lot. The food is still generally pretty good but the service is atrocious. The last to-go order we had they left part of it off and charged us anyway. Dining in we had to continuous«re-ask» for almost everything we needed. They were not that busy either. Once the bill came we had to send it back because they put two meals on it that weren’t ours. Sigh.

The place is sooo understaffed! it really messes up the dining experience when you’re spending the majority of your time trying to track someone down to order or tell then they gave you the wrong order. a which has happened at least once every time I’ve been. The food is goo for the area though. The reason we keep coming back is for the all you can eat, which includes appetizers and desserts! yay!

I’ve been here a few times with my partner, usually Wednesdays around 6 pm(before dinner rush). Clean place, quick to get seated, and the sushi is great! If I could, I’d actually only give 4.5 stars, due to poor/below average service… Food: I was pleasantly surprised being that it’s in Carson, but the fish is fresh and tastes great without having to drown in soy sauce! Rice to fish proportion is good. I usually stick to nigiri – maybe a roll or two, but they have some pretty creative appetizers that I like. Service: Decent. Hostess is sometimes rude or unfriendly. Maybe she’s new to the service industry. I’ll let it slide… I do expect the sushi chef to pay attention to me every now and then, especially if there are few to none other patrons around. He was a bit absent-minded. Ordered dessert with the hostess instead, to which she said to order with the chef. When she saw that he wasn’t around, she quickly added, «but I can get that for you.» Mind you, I’m still friendly and say all my please and thank yous, and I am aware that the sushi chef can be busy with multiple orders, but really, there was maybe one other couple still eating. But anyway, I decided to give them five stars because they’re quick to get me seated, waters are filled, and I got what I wanted to eat in a reasonable amount of time. I’d recommend to others, and am going to continue coming here for the amazing fish, and creative items! [edit] Forgot to mention, I’ve only sat at the bar. :)

I love their salmon skin hand roll! I also like how they have the push buttons to call our server to the table instead of sitting there awkwardly trying to get their attention. I always come here with a large group(10+) and they are always friendly, and service is quick. Of course their food is great, why else would I come back? I always get AYCE because I like trying all the appetizers, some more than once(I’m talking about you baked mussels!) I am also a hand roll type of gal because the long rolls seem like way too much for my little belly.

This place looked promising as we first walked in but were soon disappointed! To start off I just got a water to drink when I noticed a nice juicy set of pink lipstick lips on the side of my glass. Appetizers came out pretty quick, but our main orders took awhile to come out and when they did we were missing several items. We waited thinking maybe they were just busy but nothing ever came out so we asked and were told they forgot and to reorder them. After ordering some more items same problem… missing half the items we ordered! At this time we were over it and ready to leave! Food was mediocre and service Is not worth what you pay!

I’ve been here for few times with my friend and today went there for dinner with our husbands. All I can say is that the sushi taste, size and thickness pretty consistent from the last time I was here. The rice itself was stick very nicely, didn’t fall apart like the one of sushi place in Reno. We started with appetizer. Some of us ordered miso soup because their miso soup was so good, rich flavor. Yeah that’s what I call a real miso soup, not bland flavorless like my worst miso soup ever in Reno. Some of ordered the mussels. The mussels were so good and nice flavor too. My husband said the mussels rule! The calamari rings was good but not wow, just good. Then we ordered the rolls, nigiri, hand roll. All of them were delicious, pretty art on the plate, rice not too thick not too thin, just perfect portion. The cuts of fish were nice. The mackerel was good but a bit fishy. The Donald Duck was my favorite. Geisha was yummy too. The spicy tuna hand roll was so good, not spicy at all as it said well at least for me. Mickey Mouse was nice cut fish too. The fried rolls were delicious, fried perfect. The quail egg was pretty good too. The upside down shrimp was yummy, the fried upside down shrimp was yummy too. Service was always nice & friendly but today we were waited for the sea urchin and we crossed it again for second time on our second order but it didn’t came so we asked and the server told us that they out of it. Well it’d be more nice and appreciate if you came and told us ahead that you don’t have it rather than we sitting there and wondering why isn’t here. This place pretty pack all the time and tonite was busy for Thursday night, was good that we came earlier. Dessert were nice, perfectly treats after ate few rolls. The green tea cheesecake was so good, very rich creamy, wasn’t sweet at all. Green tea ice cream and the Mochi ice cream were good as always, never go wrong with those. Few days before, I ordered to go their bento box for the first time. I ordered the pork cutlets instead chicken katsubecause they don’t have any katsu on their menu. The food came with rice and some appetizer such as veggies tempura. The pork cutlets was good but way too thin. The sauce was good. The tempura were all good. The Gyoza was yummy! Service was nice and price was not too bad $ 12 something after tax. Overall, Tomo is a best sushi for Carson beside the Shinsen Sushi in Fandago. So I’m pretty happy that at least in this small town, I still can enjoy some nice sushi in town to go with. But hey if you’ve never been here and wanna know, just come by and try it by yourself to make sure. Everyone experiences always different, so give this local business at least a try.

Tomo was a 5star sushi place for my family and I when they first opened, but it has gone down hill! We just had dinner there, when arriving it smelt un-fresh, when asking us for drinks the waiter only asked the adults and ran away to get them totally ignoring our child(8years old) the same story when ordering our meal! The waiter was using foul language when having to bus the table next to us, and they had forgot our requests numerous times! We do not go out to eat often, and this experience was rough to spend $ 65 dollars for poor customer service. The food tasted good. In their defense, there was server wanted signs on the front door and the kid who served us may have been out of his league to be serving customers and may have been tagged in to help out from the kitchen.

For a sushi restaurant in Carson City, I’m surprised to say that Tomo is one of the best places I’ve eaten AYCE! My parents and I were going to Carson for a short weekend trip when I was in town, and because I have my food cravings, I searched Unilocal for some spots to check out in the area. Everyone’s pictures made the food look super yummy, so we decided to try it out. The muscles appetizer(all appetizers included in the AYCE price) was probably the highlight of the meal. We should have gotten another order of it, but were too full from the plates we ordered. All the of sushi rolls we had consisted of about 8 pieces and each one we ordered was delicious! My favorites included a roll with uni and hamachi. I think we had about 7 – 8 rolls plus 3 desserts, with the 3 appetizers and miso soup for around $ 23 each. It’s the average price for and AYCE sushi place, but the quality and service made it especially delicious! I don’t particularly plan to visit Carson on any upcoming trips, but if I ever do, I’m coming back to Tomo!

So this place used to be m favorite place in town. We came once a week at least. Then they made some changes and decided to check out our old sushi places and then we came back. I’m very sad to say it has gone down hill. I wish it wasn’t so. Our yellowtail was old, it smelled fishy which happens no biggie we asked our server to take it away and we let her know we didn’t want a new one. So when our next roll came and it had yellowtail on it I was a little surprised they would try to pass off more old fish to us. The menu changes are so so sadly there is way too much competition to serve old sushi and incompetent waitstaff. Hopefully I’m not the only one who lets them know so they can get back to being an amazing place.

I so wish we could put negative stars on this. The wife and I have been trying to give this place a chance, about four chances actually. Each time more disappointing after other. When I think the service can’t get any worst, Boom, a big slap in the face to tell me other wise. The sad part is I know these servers have been here for a while and yet they act like they just started yesterday. I so want to say more about how bad the servers are, but why tell you. You can go in there for yourself and see how crappy they are. The last two times we went in the sushi was not that good. Super bland just unimpressive. Basically would rather spend gas money to go up to reno then going to tomo which is a local joint.

My boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant at least a hundred times since opening. We adore this place! The food is consistently amazing. We have been to several other sushi places around the country and we have been most impressed by Tomo. Nothing beats it. The customer service is excellent. My boyfriend and I love to come to this restaurant because of Thalia and MG. The two of them make us feel so welcomed! We always feel as though we can walk through the door and catch up with old friends. The menu is innovative and delicious. The chefs are willing to deviate a little depending on your taste, allergies, etc. Tomo offers a little bit of everything, depending on where your tastes are! While the sushi menu is delicious, the other choices, such as the bento box, are great too. The décor is modern without seeming too unauthentic. The dining area is very inviting and comfortable! I suggest sitting at the bar when you can, but sometimes my boyfriend and I prefer a little privacy, and the associates have no problems accommodating our seating requests. Overall the restaurant is very clean. The dishes are always spotless, and the bathroom is always kept up. The price is average, and is what is to be expected for an all you can eat restaurant. In fact, the food is so good I’m surprised they don’t charge more! Expect to spend around fifty dollars if you’re going on a date for two. Overall, wonderful place. Every experience is honestly memorable. Would recommend going.

Out of all the AYCE sushi places I’ve experienced, this place sadly falls into my bottom 3. Why? Here we go. 1) fish quality: I always order nigiri first to test this aspect. The fish was definitely of poor quality. Fish should never taste fishy. 2) rice: The rice was undercooked. The seasoning was spot on. 3) speed of service: We sat at a table because the bar was full. I found it really strange that I was getting one specific order of nigiri at a time. It really made the process quite slow and frustrating. The servers were fantastic though. They were checking on us constantly throughout our meal to ensure we were doing ok. Oh, and they were out of uni. Meh. For the price, you can get anything ranging from nigiri to hand rolls to regular rolls to appetizers and finally, dessert. A 2 star experience for me… not my cup of tea.

Quick stop. Coming from Vegas, starving on our way on to Lake Tahoe, some AYCE sushi awaits! Very grateful Unilocal helped me because I would have never expected for such a friendly staff and delicious rolls up in these mountains. Price was average for any all you can eat sushi joint and its located right off the main road so you can’t miss it. In a hurry to get back en route, we ordered just a few plates. Loved the mussels! Cooked perfectly and had an simple awesome presentation. Their Lulu, Macho and Tiger rolls were great, but I had to give it up for the Geisha roll. With salmon, crab mix, and jalapenos in the center, topped with Hamachi, a slice of lemon, and spicy sauce gave it a tangy/kicking/fresh at the same time. Some Nigiri could only be ordered once(probably because they are so damn far from the ocean). For dessert however, they offer some delicious Tempura Ice Cream and Green Tea Cheesecake which I hear tastes just as good. I plan to visit Lake Tahoe again from all the adventures I’ve yet to accomplish, so keep up the great work staff and I’ll see y’all soon!
