Weird pretty much sums it up!
Auf der Suche nach einem anderen Buchladen sind wir aus Versehen hier rein gelaufen. Als wir innen standen, hatten wir tatsächlich für einen kurzen Moment den Eindruck, wir seien gerade einfach in das Haus irgendeiner fremden Person gelaufen — sieht es doch sehr nach einem Wohnzimmer aus!
Wir wurden auch direkt von einem älteren, freundlichen Herren begrüßt — es scheint tatsächlich so, als ob er hier lebt und diesen «Laden» einfach nebenbei offen hat. Er freute sich darüber, sich mit jemanden unterhalten zu können — in den 5 Minuten die wir da waren, hat er auch direkt eine politische Diskussion mit uns angefangen!
Die Auswahl der Bücher ist auch eher speziell — ich habe zwar ein paar sehr coole Kochbücher gefunden, aber ich glaube nicht, dass hier das Augenmerk drauf liegt. Ein wirkliches System habe ich auch nicht gefunden — es ist also eher einer dieser «Stöberläden» — ab und zu vorbei schauen und sich einfach überraschen lassen, was man findet! Wenn ich öfter hier in der Gegend wäre, würde ich vermutlich alle paar Wochen hier vorbeischauen, nur zum stöbern.
Kurz gesagt:
* Etwas schräger Buchladen.
* …der mehr an das Wohnzimmer eines älteren Mannes erinnert (vermutlich ist dem auch so!)
* Perfekt zum Stöbern & für interessante Unterhaltungen
* Aber bloß nicht mit Erwartungen hierher kommen…
* …was auch immer man erwartet, es ist anders!

The other reviewer pretty much summed it up. As the name implies, a rather regional selection. Musty and slighly disorganized, but to me these were not faults, but eccentricies. Very nice owner. For its niche, it has some gems. Worth a lazy afternoon browse.

This is one of those «strange» and «unique» shops that you usually only find in a small city like Carson. The hours are odd, it’s kind of stinky inside, the shop owner is super friendly, and the selection of books is very specialized.
The hours are odd. You won’t find this place open on the weekends or during the evening. It’s run by an older gentleman by the name of Bill who does it as a hobby it seems. Hence, the hours. He seems like a warm and friendly guy who will greet you from where you are.
Yes, it’s kind of stinky inside. It smells like old cigarettes and unwashed dishes. Who knows where it’s really coming from? I remember visiting a bookstore when I was a kid growing up and the owners smoked like runaway coal powered trains. Maybe this brings back some strange nostalgia for me?
The selection of books is indeed very specialized. The great majority of books deal with Nevada history, the wild west, cowboy frontier life, etc. That’s what you’ll find deeper inside the shop. On the outer edges of the shop you’ll find some non-​fiction books but not many. The art section is all about sexuality as it is portrayed artistically (not porn). There is also a small section of vintage pulp novels too,
This place doesn’t look like the kind that takes CC. t didn’t have any cash on me when I visited the shop but I can see myself coming back every so often and picking up a few books.
If you’re looking for a general bookstore then this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a B&N or Border style store then this definitely isn’t it! If you’re looking for a, «Wow, that was unique!» then this is it.
