We are a cat place. We care for between 40 and 65 cats and kittens in a homey, cage-​free facility. All our cats are available for adoption. They are very friendly and well-​socialized. Spay/​neuter is always included in their adoption process, and all are up-​to-​date on their basic shots.

We are also opening a small retail area that will sell all kinds of cat-​related items. Many are made by local craftspeople.

We provide information on TNR for feral colonies, provide limited transportation once a week to very low-​cost spay/​neuter for feral cats, and provide some services for feral colony caregivers.

We try to help the cats of Carson City and their owners as much as possible.

We are a non-​profit organization, relying entirely on volunteers for help; and on donations and «sales» of cats and a few retail items for our financial survival.

Catmandu is a community-​based organization; we exist because of the community’s support and do all that we can to make the community a better place for cats and the people who care for them.

History

Established in 2014.

Using the small one-​time pension disbursement I received after my husband Kurt’s death from cancer, we turned a decrepit monstrosity of a property into a comfy and cozy cattified place for kitties. We scavenged, recycled, and reused materials to make a quirky but functional facility. We brought in our first cat the end of March 2014. During our first 9 months in business, we had 90 adoptions and currently have many other fabulous cats waiting for their forever homes.
