ZitaCookies

Improving my rating cause (1) had an ideal experience when I did an online order (clean, straightforward, and quick), and (2) I’ve found a third delicious flavor: Peanut Butter Swirl. An absolute must for peanut butter lovers.
PS — Everyone at my office is absolutely addicted to these cookies – mobbing and whimpering ensues if they see me with a ZitaCookies box. I just must not be as much a cookie fan as the rest of the world because they would likely rate Zita off the scales.

I fell in love with ZitaCookies about 2 years ago shortly after they first opened. I’d noticed this shop during one of my lunch outings and came back with a coworker.
Oh man. My first cookie was the key lime. How delightful! Every single bite was crispy, melt-​in-​your-​mouth deliciousness. The lime chewy was a nice touch!
Since then I’ve tried the peanut butter, coconut dream (OH MY!), strawberry, and almond buttercrunch. All of them were wonderful, my favorite being a tie between the coconut dream and they key lime. I love the strawberry glaze – you can really taste the fresh strawberries in it.
Oh, and 1 cookie a day is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. These things are huge at 3 oz. each.
The only downside is you can’t just walk in and ask for a dozen cookies and then walk out with cookies in hand. This is a truly made-​to-​order product. I don’t know if they do a cookie-​of-​the-​day like they used to where they sold certain flavors from the case on certain days, but still ordering ahead of time is well worth it. So if anyone feels like sending me half a dozen of the key lime or coconut cookies (or even some of her new cookie balls), just let me know!

I wanted to make a cookie basket for my hubby and surprise him at work for our 5^th year anniversary, I went inside and no one was there to greet you I had to yell hello for someone to come from the back. when someone finally came, she had a complete attitude like I was an inconvenience to her! so I asked for 2 dozen regular chocolate chip cookies and 1 heart cookie that said I love you. she said that it wasn’t possible because it’s too labor intensive and she only will make «speciality» cookies by the dozen. I said ok well no thanks and she was like «ok whatever»! I heard her cookies taste great but her attitude that day lost any business from me. oh yeah a cookie place is suppose to smell good but it smelt musty. I never write reviews but I felt I HAD to for Zita’s cookies!

Plan ahead! Don’t expect to walk in and find a huge selection of cookies. We dropped in at noon and there 3 types of cookies on display and less than a dozen individual cookies. We did try one of each variety (key lime, almond buttercrunch and pecan chocolate chip) and all were lovely as previous reviewers have attested. I thought the key lime reminiscent of the jalapeño lime cookies at Hula Café in Oak Cliff. The almond buttercrunch was both crunchy and chewy at the same time with a nice drizzle of chocolate. The pecan chocolate chip was very good, but I can’t really think of anything in particular about it that stood out.
I definitely want to try the Coconut Dream, but that’s not on the rotation for cookie of the day according to the website. I’ll have to settle for checking out Thursday’s oatmeal cranberry and snickerdoodle.

I wanted to get Sugar Bear a delicious, festive nom for St. Patty’s day. I was near Zita’s, so I decided to swing by and see what they had. There were two huge sugar cookie shamrocks with green frosting and 3 chocolate almond cookies left at 4:30 in the afternoon (they close at 5pm).
Apparently, they are not like a regular bakery with lots of items available for ‘walk in’ customers to purchase. Everything is made from scratch and needs to be pre-​ordered at least a day prior. I’m not a very good planner, so this will be a challenge for me. I like to get my husband surprises on a whim.
The cookies were delectable… they were 5+ stars on their own merit. Sugar Bear was particularly delighted by the chocolate almond cookies. There are other flavors that I want to get in the future… especially the key lime cookies. They are the ones I’ve heard so much raving about, but apparently they are seasonal only. (Spring is their season, so I’ll be ordering some of them soon.)
I’m fortunate to have gotten any cookies at all when I went. A lady came in after me and was disappointed to hear that I had cleared out their stock for the day. Perhaps as the company grows, they will have more available for those of us who are poor planners with our sweets purchases.
How do these cookies compare to Tiff’s treats? No idea. BUT, I’m glad to have a place for delicious cookies in North Dallas!

I read about ZitaCookies last week on the Dallas News’ EATS blog. Kim Pierce gave them a pretty rave review and I have to do the same after sampling a few of their cookies this morning.
I was craving a sweet treat and luckily remembered reading the review so I popped in on a whim today.
The options were Coconut Dream, Almond Buttercrunch, Chocolate Chip Pecan, and Key Lime. With October being National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ZitaCookies is offering a pink ribbon cookie to honor friends and family affected by this disease. A portion of all proceeds from the sale of this cookie will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
I am particularly fond of citrus flavors, so the Key Lime was calling my name. I also purchased a Coconut Dream and Almond Buttercrunch.
Packaging was simple, but attractive. Brown paper bags with a fold-​over closure with a brown Zita Cookie label with blue polka dots. It would make a lovely and quick gift — no muss, no fuss on your part.
Once in the car I couldn’t resist. I broke off a small piece of the first cookie that my fingers found in the bag — Coconut Dream.
Oh my goodness! Soft and chewy because of both the baked texture and the coconut flakes. The glaze is just light enough to not be overwhelming but thick enough to have a little backbone to it. A winner all the way around!
I broke off a small tidbit of the Almond Buttercrunch next. Same perfect cookie texture — chewy and soft in the middle with crispy edges. This is punctuated with a deep chocolate and a buttery sweet toffee flavor throughout.
It took every ounce of my being to only nibble a small bit of both of those cookies. They are so delish that you just want to gobble them up!
On the other hand, I could not resist the lure of the Key Lime. More sweet than tart, but there was no mistaking the delightful fresh bite that citrus seems to have. The texture was definitely a melt in your mouth feel. The glaze gave it a nice sweet snap that put a smile on my face and satisfied that sweet tooth!
I will definitely be back to purchase individual cookies and will also consider them for unique gifts for friends and business acquaintances. I will also be serving these when I host a holiday tea in December and any other dinner party or event where a cookie would be a treat!
