My credit is considered Good/​Excellent and my apartment rental history is excellent (no evictions, always early or on-​time rent payments, quiet, and always clean with a returned deposit).
I applied to a rental community that used Realpage’s credit software and was informed by the rental community that, according to Realpage’s assessment, my credit was questionable and my rental history rated 800 out of 1000! This required the rental community to charge me a «penalty» of a non-​refundable deposit, or an extra, potentially-​refundable $ 1000 deposit! Technically, I could afford to pay either the non-​refundable or refundable deposit, but that wasn’t the point: I didn’t like being made to feel like I was a shady tenant!
Again, my credit score is considered Good/​Excellent and I just got a new job with a higher salary; when I’ve previously rented at other places, my credit score was a bit lower and my salary was lower and I wasn’t penalized. But these rental communities didn’t use Realpage!
Most likely, I’ll forgo the apartment (even though I’ll end up losing $ 255 in rental application fees!) and rent a house. Way to go, Realpage! If your goal is to insult and deter quiet, clean, steady-​paying tenants with your credit/​screening software’s bad algorithms, you’re doing a great job!!!

This company is crap. I applied for an apartment about a week ago & the office lady called me & said I was denied due to an eviction. I have never been evicted. Come to find out, the apartment complex uses real page inc to do their credit checks & background checks. Bad first impression! I called real page to dispute the false information on my background & I ended up talking to a guy who can barely speak English. Wow! Really! They falsified an eviction on my background from 2010. They Said I lived in Texas during 2009 – 2012 at the same apartment complex that I applied for. I’m from Mississippi & I just moved to Texas in 2014. Not only was I denied a nice apartment but they told me that I have to wait 30 dam days before anything is solved. This company is a freaking joke. I’m sure that I can report them. I just haven’t figured out to who yet.

I am not one to write reviews, but my experience with Realpage really upset me. I applied for an apartment two months ago and was denied due to «unsatisfactory criminal history». I was confused and worried because the only tickets I have gotten were parking tickets, which were paid off right away. Even after several calls to the apartment complex and Realpage no one could tell me what violation I had made. I had started to worry that my identity had been stolen. Three weeks later I was told that my criminal history came from a county that I had never been to or heard of. I called the court in that county and was told they had no records with my personal information. I submitted a Dispute form, but it took them a little over a month to provide me with the results stating that the records they had pulled weren’t my records and that I am cleared. Not only did I spend countless hours trying to figure out why I was being accused of being a criminal, but also spent over $ 400 on the apartment applications and getting any records that I could get a hold of.
Realpage caused unnecessary stress and cost time, money, and a housing opportunity. I strongly recommend apartments to not go with Realpage when dealing with background checks.
A recommendation to Realpage: Start hiring employees that won’t half-​ass their jobs or find a better way to do things.
If you’re looking into an apartment that works with Realpage I would highly recommend to not waste your time with them.

I am a young professional moving to the Seattle area for a new position in a corporate office. I have held corporate positions since college and have had several background checks done on me. The company I will be working for is very well known, and I passed their background check with flying colors.
I applied for three apartments in Seattle and was approved within hours at two of them, but not at the third, which was the building and location I really wanted. My background check came back unsatisfactory and I was «denied» the apartment, however, the apartment complex called and said I could dispute it and they’d hold the unit for me. I figured this would be taken care of the following Monday as the only thing that could have possibly shown up on my record was an underage drinking ticket I got back in college.
I had to borderline harrass Realpage to take care of this in a «timely» manner. (And by «timely», I mean I had started contacting them at 8am central Monday morning and did not receive results until 4:45pm central Friday afternoon). Then — my results ended up being a charge that did not belong to me from the state of Wisconsin!
The employees at Realpage were extremely unhelpful, they either did not know the answers to my questions, or just didn’t care enough to answer them without giving me the run around. They all made me feel like I was the one in the wrong and I received zero apology for having put the wrong record on my report, which could have cost me thousands of dollars if I didn’t get this apartment.
I ended up getting the apartment, but when I am making a cross country move, the last thing I needed was to be denied an apartment because of a crime I didn’t even commit because Realpage doesn’t bother to make sure they’ve got the right person.
I would NOT recommend using this background check company in the future.

This company cost me, like many others, my opportunity to rent a house through a prospective agency by falsifying a criminal history. The first background search yielded multiple reports against me which none were valid. The first request to clear them from my history made a vague effort. Leaving 1 still false accusation stating that I had committed some crime in 2014 in Nevada. I’m a California resident with no history in Nevada until March 2015 when I’ve attempted to move. I sent a second request at 2pm in hopes to have it cleared by 5pm, the time the rental agency closed, so I would not be out of luck and forced to book a hotel late or sleep on the street. The request was not taken care of by that time. My application was then denied based on completely false convictions. This has now affected my character costing me money and embarrassment. Until this company takes on their responsibility to provide complete and accurate information to requests I’m afraid I’ll be denied elsewhere. This difficulty with their false information cost me a $ 50 application fee, my chance to move in and has caused me great emotional distress. I believe this companies reckless business practice has lead to defamation of character and displays their obvious disregard for my rights under FCRA. I hardly take this lightly and will peruse the steps in order to ensure my records are made accurate and correct and attempt although I have little faith this company cares at all.

I recently went to lease an appartment in Ca and due to bad luck the property uses RealPage as their business partner to do background checks on applicants…
They reported that I had criminal history when in reality I have nothing on my records…
Called them to get the dispute form, gave them my info and spelled out my name and everything…
A day went by and I did not receive anything…
Called them back, turned out that the lady idiot on the phone misspelled my name… got it corrected and received the form.
The case was assigned to someone else who misspelled my name again…
IDIOTS, can you please pay attention to detail??? You are hired to provide accurate info for God sake…
They told me they have 30 days to response to my dispute… they took the full 30 freaking days to finally say that they could not find anything on my records…
This company is ran by IDIOTS.
Your business partners pay you for accurate info not taking money from them by providing wrong info…
First, you have employees that have no skills whatsoever, they dont pay attention to detail and secondly, can you please update your freaking database so you dont create work intentionally for your office people and stress good people like me out for no reasons???
RealPage Inc is such a pain in the neck to deal with… their database is outdated.
So F U for putting me through crap for 30 days. Long hours on the phone and back and forth emails…
If you are a property management company, I highly suggest that you keep looking at other companies if you want to be able to get good and reliable data to lease or rent your property to people rather than losing them due to bad info…
They damage people’s reputation and put them through stress for no good reasons…

In August 2013, my son’s application at the 220 Twentieth Street apartment complex was declined because RealPage erroneously informed Vornado property management that my son had a criminal history. My son has no criminal history. He is a Veteran and has held a security clearance with the federal government since he was eighteen. He currently holds a Top Secret security clearance after undergoing a thorough and exhaustive background investigation. RealPage has refused to inform him of the nature of his alleged criminal history and has not resolved the matter, despite being petitioned to do so. This incident highlights the deeply flawed methodology RealPage utilizes to investigate and report information about consumers. RealPage’s actions deprived my son of an opportunity to rent an apartment, damaged his reputation, and caused him emotional distress. We plan to pursue the matter further with an attorney.
