Did not starch my husbands welding shirts like I wanted, I told them to put as much starch as they could to make them stiff, felt like they didn’t have any starch to them. Plus the girl at the counter miss counted my order, she said I had 28, when I picked them up I only had 26, the guy at the counter said that she miss counted because he counts them his self and he’s never wrong. so if we had 2 more shirts or not we will never know, let’s just say I count myself now. I dropped my clothes off on a Monday, the girl at the counter said my clothes would be back next Wednesday and they would text me when they was done. She lied, the was done in 2 days, my husband noticed it on the ticket they gave us that it was that coming Wednesday not the Wednesday after, and I didn’t get a text saying they was done, we got there 5 minutes before they were closing too. Not going back to this place.

Look, I value my disposable income, and I’ve got no qualms dropping some cash on a cleaners who do their jobs with integrity – but coming to J Carl the last few times has felt like I’m throwing away money. Three visits ago, after picking up a large order, I noticed that two of my favorite shirts were missing. I made a trip back to the store, explained the sitch, and a manager looked for my shirts on the revolving rack with no luck. I turned to go and the manager and a cashier then took random shirts from the rack that looked nothing at all like the picture I showed them, and began trying shopping them off to me: «Is this it?» «Is that it?» etc. That bothered me that my stuff was inadequately marked so that if it was separated from my order, it was subject to be shopped off to anyone who cared to take it. The manager took down my info and told me he’d call back that evening. I didn’t hold my breath, and I never was contacted and never offered replacement because I couldn’t prove the clothes were in their care. That was several months ago. I decided maybe in the spirit of laziness or second chances to try J Carl again this weekend. I took another large order, but this time was careful to take pictures of my clothes and also mark down how many of which shirt and pant I was dropping off on a sheet of paper. Sure enough, I’m two shirts short a-fuckin’-gain! Both missing are the same style as the previous lost shirts. It made me feel crazy when I tore up my house looking for shirts I thought I had misplaced. But the proof’s in the pictures. Someone needs to tell J Carl to fire that sketch kid they hired from middle school who always stole your shoes out of the lockers when everyone else was in the gym. My advice: count your clothes and make sure that your count matches their records, or head somewhere they don’t steal your best stuff. Prices aren’t competitive. I will say they are very courteous there, but courtesy and lip service isn’t what most people are there for. I’m sure many people have a great experience at J Carl and they return satisfied customers. Can’t say this is true for me though.

Something is wrong recently. I love this cleaners, they used to have some consistency with pricing and clothing comes out very clean. Now, shirt collars are hit or miss, pants seems to be ironed by an unmanned machine. Prices however is a whole other story. Last time I was there they charged me 2.30 and 4.60 for two identical brand, material, cut, and design shirts. The only thing that was different was the color. I am really considering taking my business elsewhere. I mean to charge this kind of money for this kind of service, they need to get there act together.

J Carl Cleaners is now 0⁄2 in customer service for me. The first time I dropped off my suit to be cleaned they told me it would be ready in time before the holidays when they closed, but they didn’t finish in time. No big deal just wore another suit. The latest incident however is inexcusable. Dropped off another suit to be dry cleaned and this time they were very quick, but the next day when I removed my suit from the wrap there was a giant obvious rip in my pants. It was my favorite suit and they ruined it without apologizing. I don’t care about the rip so much as the fact they thought it was okay to go ahead and charge me for the service and not mention the rip and not apologize for destroying my pants. The whole operation comes across very amateurish as it seems it’s completely staffed by scattered high school students.
