The employees here are so rude! I can’t believe they have people like that working here, it’s mostly the ladies who are rude the men working here are nice

Man, I pity anybody caught in the cold. Or in the rain. Or in the summer heat. Basically anything short of ideal outdoor weather. For whatever reason, the brilliant planners behind DMV planning wanted this DPS office to resemble a night club or a movie theater. Nowhere to sit. Nowhere to take shelter. Maybe waiting in line makes people more complacent once they get inside. Maybe we are so thankful once you enter the front door that become less hostile.
Silver lining — at least the staff is friendly in terms of what you’d expect when coming to the DMV.

Yeah I know you have to wait a long time at the dps office but this place is brutal. I was out in the heat for over an hour prior to even being allowed in the building in which time numerous people came out of the DPS. They have a security guard guarding the door which warrants my one star that’s mandatory to give on here. I’ve received my license at many different locations in Texas all of which wait time has been awful this is to be expected, but you can normally enter the facility and take care of the forms you need to fill out etc. Not be stuck outside in 90 degree weather. Also I got there at 8:30 am on a Tuesday. A bit ridiculous guys come on.

I only gave the one star because it made me. One star is too many.
This is THE WORST DPS office on THE PLANET EARTH!!!
Save yourself the headache and drive to Garland or Fort Worth. The people who work here are rude, impatient, and angry. I had to renew my drivers license on a Monday morning, got there around 10 a.m. and stood in a line OUTSIDE for 15 – 20 minutes (90 degree weather btw). But that was not the problem, inside there was plenty of room for those of us standing outside yet the number system was not working so there was a huge line going around the room with no one allowed to sit in the EMPTY chairs. After finally getting inside and standing in line for 45 minutes some genius finally decided to use manual numbers, sit us down in the chairs, and bring the remaining people inside. There were 3 random open seats and one of the workers shouted for people to sit in them. No one sat down so she yelled out «If you people don’t sit in the chairs, I’ll put you back outside!». What are we, dogs?

Worst place to be. I have been waiting for 4hrs and still not even close to being called.

Took my driving test and it was super easy!
The lady who was my instructor was super nice and chill.
They don’t allow insurance that hasn’t started yet so you need an old one.
The test was a breeze, and it was a better experience than last time.

They skip numbers! I waited 40 minutes & then was given a new number & sent at the back of the line.

Monday morning, I need to renew my drivers license.
What I expected was complete bedlam, confusion, clerks barking orders, pens that have that everlasting sticking residue. A stinky waiting room, with empty soda cans, people chain smoking huddling around the entrance… You get the picture.
What I experienced was a clean environment, no confusion, no smokers by the front door, but rather a friendly welcome from the DPS officer (ok, I then stood in line for 10 min), then another friendly clerk was pretty chill & retook my picture because I didn’t look good (it’s all about looking good, right?)
In & out in 15 minutes… And no pens with that everlasting sticking residue!

Is it possible? A government building earning 5 stars?!! I know it seems unlikely, but the Carrollton DPS just completely earned every last star!
I went in on a Friday around 10am and was out of there no more than thirty minutes later. It would have been even faster if I had remembered to bring the driver’s license renewal paperwork I had printed and filled out at home and then promptly forgot about.
They were organized, polite, and the man running the show at the front was firmly keeping line cutters in their place, ensuring everyone got served in order.
The best part was the employee who actually handled my renewal and took my picture. She was a total pleasure to work with and hooked me up with a retake when my first photo came out weird looking.
Friendly and efficient, there wasn’t anything they could do better to make your DPS experience more painless. Thanks Carrollton DPS!

Quick and easy for a name and address change. Don’t let the creepy shopping center scare you away! As far as license bureaus seem to go, this place was great!

If you need to replace or renew your license this is the place to go! I was in an out in 10 minutes. Can’t speak about any other service there.

It is small, but it is a little bit more organized than most.

DPS you frighten me. SO many horror stories and I have no patience of this kind of stuff. Well I walked in and I was worried. I was on a lunch break and I just needed to renew my license and could not online. There were so many people when I walked inside but I went in que to get paperwork and the lady told me the line is quick for license renewal. In and out in 30 minutes? Awesome. The people are not rude at all either, they aren’t the most friendliest but I don’t come here for prestine customer service. Just be nice to me, give me what I need, and make it as quick as possible! I came here on a Friday at 10:45am. (My last two sentences sounded raunchy I just realized, so did not mean for that to happen).

It’s a government run building. I don’t expect much good from here. Better that they have a number system, but still is horrid as other Unilocalers and the gen pop know.

I had to renew my driver’s license in person today. I went to the Carrollton office and I was extremely pleased with my experience. I was in and out of the office in under 15 minutes. The parking isn’t great, but if you are ok walking a little bit, it’s not so bad. The staff was very friendly and I found this to be a quite simple process. I was expecting the worse and was pleasantly surprised with my results. I will be recommending this office to my friends that need to renew in person.

Horrid, awful, rude service! Cannot explain how unprofessional and unhelpful the employees are, they should be ashamed behaving like this. No class at all… if you hate your job that much quit.

I guess I’m just awesome enough to never have to wait. I always come to this location for renewals and have never waited longer than 15 min. Hubby went in today for a renewal and we were in and out in minutes. There were people there but I’m assuming for stuff other than renewing. Sucks for them! If you are just needing to replace or renew, come to this location.

Walked in at 4:45p praying I could get a paper license cause I lost mine. I lose everything. I lost my mind years ago.
Walked out a 4:55p with a brand new spanking piece of paper with me cheesing like Crash Bandicoot in this heezy. Staff was UBER friendly to the max.
A++++, would buy from again.

If you don’t to go to this one i would say avoid it and find one less busy.
