This place is insane good. Its a little gem and another location in Richardson. So good I wanna franchise and spread the love… definitely check out the quiche.

I randomly stopped in at Café Max for lunch after a meeting. A colleague and I needed to eat lunch somewhere nearby that would afford us a chance to talk in a quiet(er), non-crazy-lunch-crowd atmosphere. Café Max fit the bill. The dining area is large with plenty of space between tables, so you don’t feel crowded. This location also feels like a place you have to know to visit — unlike many restaurants in the Addison area, lunch was a peaceful experience. What to expect: Walk to the order/serving line and tell them what you’d like. They’ll build your plate, hand it over and you pay at the end of the counter. I chose the quiche plate — a slice of quiche and two salad sides(of my choosing) for $ 8.50. That seemed a little pricey until I saw the serving side. It was ridiculous! My quiche slice was a veritable wedge. The salads were large portions in their own right(I had Caesar salad and cucumber/tomato salad). It was tasty, filling and worth every penny spent. I’d definitely go back to Café Max for another meal. I was excited to see that they have a location in Plano, too. That’s closer to my neck of the woods — now I have an excuse to stop in.

Love this place — mom and pop owned and only open on the weekdays during normal corporate business hours. Blackened chicken sandwich is awesome and I absolutely love the trio — chicken salad, pasta salad– and I’ll change it up with the Caesar or the cucumber salad. Love it and HUGE portions :)

Over the years I’ve enjoyed many meals @ CM, for both personal dining and client meetings. I awoke one morning craving the salad trio and realized I hadn’t visited here in over a decade. Unfortunately, this experience was most contradictory to my previous ones. This review is for the food only as it was a to-go order. Either 1) recipes have changed; 2) my taste buds have matured; or 3) my fond memories of great food are merely a dream. Salad trio of chicken salad, pasta salad and potato salad with a dinner roll. Chicken Salad was not flavorful. I remember a dressing that was light with fresh herbs; this lacked in that area. While the chicken was moist and tender, it had no ZING. 2.5 stars Pasta Salad was as bland as it could possibly be; felt like I was just eating some plain cooked pasta. 1 star Potato Salad — the worst of all, literally drowned in italian dressing, almost soupy; and to add insult to injury there were several bites of almost raw potatoes. 1 star Dinner Roll — was really quite tasty the next day, toasted with some honey butter. 3 stars There are many rave reviews so perhaps there is a #4) I caught them on a really, really off day.

Delicious food, but the décor is a turn off. I’d had Café Max at work but I’d never visited the restaurant. I invited a friend to meet me and, when she walked in she noted, «Thanks for inviting me to the senior citizen home». She was right. Had I not eaten and loved their food before, I would not have trusted this senior home cafeteria replica. Since I knew their food was great, I convinced her to stay. She ordered a sandwich and didn’t comment one way or another. I ordered the Ceasar salad and the chicken salad. Both were everything I remembered and I loved every bite. The portions are huge so, in the end, I packed a to-go box for the next day. Note, if you place a to-go order from the beginning, they will not let you eat it in the restaurant. You’ve got to go! With my meal, a bread roll or banana muffin was included. I chose the muffin. Nothing special. I also had lemonade which was definitely special. It was very sweet and very sour. This lemonade was no Chick-Fil-A by far, but it was still good lemonade with free refills.

The location is hard to see right off Midway, it’s on the side of the building you see on Midway, in the same building as Cindi’s. Great Cesar Salad and staff! Went today and it was perfect! Glad I found it!

I wish I could give this place a higher rating but the salads weigh it down. The quiche here is fantastic. Get the quiche. I’ve had it twice this week and it’s amazing. I’ll probably have it again next week. The salads though are a disappointment. See pics. The Caesar salad, while served in a generous portion, is drowning in dressing and the meager allotment of croutons are mushy and disgustingly as a result. The fruit salad is typical but in a very small serving comparatively speaking and at least ¾ honeydew and cantaloupe. No one likes honeydew. Stop it. The pasta salad is the sole reason why, when there is a mayonnaise shortage, Café Max will shoulder the blame. There is no other taste besides mayo. The potato salad had a chance at being great but needs a life jacket to save it from the sea of Italian dressing that it swims in. Café Max has other salads. I’ll give them a shot and update accordingly but I foresee my lunches here consisting of delicious delicious quiche. The brownies are on the dry side but still tasty and the oatmeal raisin cookies are great, if you’re a heathen like me and like oatmeal raisin cookies. Did I mention the quiche? It’s good. Really good.

Weird hole in the wall. Great for lunch. One takeout box with the salad trio is good for two people. Always good, fresh, don’t judge it by the exterior(or interior). Chicken salad, to die for.

Obviously, I have been asleep. I work right around the corner from this place. Never once have I eaten here. Its been 6 years that I have driven by. Well, this is now going to be a regular spot for fast, fresh, DEELISHUS lunch. The whole salad set up is impressive. Fit right into my low carb lifestyle. The tea had a special unexpected taste that warranted a TOGOCUP. Chicken salad was awesome. Our office will be taking a field trip Eat here!

So Delicious! I’ve heard of Café Max and we had it catered at our office before, but nothing prepared me for their massive portions and home cooked feel. It’s like eating lunch at grandma’s, if you know what I mean. Lol. Grandma never would let you go hungry, and neither would Café Max. All salads include a roll or muffin(also from scratch it seems). Prices are very reasonable. The establishment is not super decorated, simple & no fuss, but still feels homey. I’ll definitely be back, to try their soups and quiches! :) Come and try Café Max out!

Their salads are amazing, no need to try anything else. I’ve been coming here for years and never tire of their trio salad. You can get one of their eight salad offerings. My personal favorite is the Caesar, Chicken and pasta salad. If I am wanting something lighter I’ll swap out the pasta salad for the cucumber salad. Wish they would package their salad dressings.

One of my favorite places to pick up lunch when I’m at work. They give you enough good for two people! The chicken apple salad is so yummy! For nine bucks I have lunch for two days!

If only there was a Café Max in Austin!!! IFONLY!!! Come here for lunch & make all your coworkers JEALOUS. Or, simply take them with you & they’ll love you for it! LISTENTOMECAREFULLY: DONOTGETANYTHINGBUTTHESALADS. Sandwiches: disappointing. Soups: normal… if you do get it, get it on the side. Quiche: never had one, but don’t care to have one b/c the salads are what makes this place famous. $ 11 for ½ chicken salad & ½ fruit salad is my go-to choice! Just look at the picture I posted. Your mouth watering yet? Second choice when I feel more savory than sweet is ½ chicken & ½ cucumber salad. If you think $ 11 is pricey, it’s really not for what you’re getting. LUNCH and DINNER. Portions are huge. TIP: they charge $ 2.50 for split plates, so just order a whole for yourself. if you plan on sharing, get it to-go and buy a cookie with the money you save. Oatmeal cookies are huge and chewy and delicious. Mini carrot cake muffins are also delicious! Also: watch for the hours open… if you’re craving Café Max on a Saturday, the Richardson I think has Saturday opening hours.

I love Café Max. I’ve been going for years and I’m never disappointed. It’s cafeteria style so service is nice and quick. It isn’t super cheap, but the portions are huge. I easily have leftovers for 2 – 3 meals after ordering. Don’t be fooled when you read that they have salads. Most people assume that it’s all lettuce and dressing, but they actually have 8 core salads: chicken, seafood, cucumber, Caesar, fruit, mixed vegetable, pasta, and potato. Each have a different, delicious flavor. Everything is very fresh. You can order one salad, a duo, a trio, a sampler of all 8 salads, etc. They also have sandwiches and quiche. If you order just salads, you have the option of a roll or muffin. Overall, really yummy and great.

Chicken, caesar, cucumber… that’s my trio. Café Max has seven freshly made salads… caesar, chicken, pasta, fruit, seafood, potato, vegetable and cucumber. You have the options of two choices, a trio or a sampler which includes a taste of all salads. They are delicious. They also have sandwiches, soup and quiche, but I don’t know anyone who has ordered them. The salads are just too damn good.
