All Day Records

All Day Records is one of the best physical vinyl shops in the country that specializes in dance music, hands down. Their selection includes new dance release imports from Europe as well as domestic pressings that are not easy to find. They carry plenty of other stuff too, including great international and indie sections, but the heart of the shop is techno, house, disco, italo, abstract, and other forms of electronic music, especially 12″ singles. There is a great selection of used vinyl, and they also carry a few pieces of very fine used audiophile turntables, cassette decks, etc. The employees are very good about helping customers find a record if they have it, and will recommend where else to check if they don’t have it – but you have to ask! The prices are more than reasonable. Like all great record shops, you can also walk in and find out where the best live music is happening in town. Cannot recommend highly enough!

This is the kind of store that embodies the stereotype of pretentious, snobby record stores. They even went so far as to post a customer review on their Facebook that gave them a negative review and make comments on it which is unbelievably childish and unprofessional in my opinion. I love supporting local record shops, however this is pushing me to order online.

I love this record store. All Day Records is one of the best places to crate dig, and I have walked out of here on more than one occasion with some cool vinyl at great prices. The staff are Carrboro locals who are in local bands, and contribute to the community. All Day is an important part of a greater Carrboro culture, just down the street from another great mainstay of the city, Orange County Social Club.
The new used section is just inside the door, and there is a comfy spot to throw on a record to give it a listen. If I lived in Carrboro, I would seriously consider just sitting on the couch and being a part of the conversations that happen in here. It’s not just a record store, it’s a destination for many locals, and just a cool spot to be in.
Make sure to look at the vinyl on the wall. I found a near mint original press of Tom Waits «Nighthawks at the Diner» on the wall, and it was priced reasonably. They have a nice local section, with many local labels represented, Merge included ;)
You haven’t really been to Carrboro until you’ve been in this shop.

Love All Day. The staff have always been extremely cool to me. They have stuff you can’t find anywhere else. They get new (new and used) inventory in all the time. And I’ve found some excellent bargains here.
I see some complaints in the reviews about the «hipness» factor, but jeez folks, it’s a record store — every good record store I’ve been in over the past 40 years has had that kind of vibe. The one in High Fidelity is the perfect illustration of this. It ain’t Blockbuster.
All Day is what an indie record store is supposed to be. May not be everybody’s cuppa, but they are extremely good at what they do.

this is the best place to buy new vinyl in central north carolina. i would say it’s the best place to buy new vinyl in the state, but there are some other contenders, most notably harvest records in asheville and chapel hill’s cd alley. if not number one overall, all day is easily tied for first.
here are just a few of the many things that make all day an excellent record shop:
1. it’s first and foremost devoted to records. apart from a small selection of underground tapes, some books, and stereo equipment, the only thing you can buy here is vinyl.
2. all day is tapped in to the local music scene, but it also keeps up with new music coming from other places in the us and international music scenes. you can get things here that you won’t be able to find at other shops.
3. they’re on discogs* with over 7,000 sales and a 100% positive feedback rating at the time of writing. that’s an impressive testament to the quality of inventory and the quality of service all day provides.

is the #1 internet destination for serious record nerds. they have a marketplace section through which users can find and purchase, or list and sell. record nerds are some of the most critical people on earth.
if you love records, this is a shop worth going out of your way to visit. whenever i manage to go here without spending at least $ 100 i consider it a great budgeting success.

The vinyl was overpriced, the staff was too busy trying to look hip, and the noise that was coming out of the speakers just about guaranteed we won’t be back to this shop.

We stopped in here to check it out during a walk through Carrboro. I did not know there are so many artists I did not know! They have an amazing selection of vinyl. I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable about the last 6 decades of music, but this place made me realize how small my range of tunes is! It is for the truly sophisticated music aficionado, and the words main and stream have no business here!

All-​Day Records is the bomb! The music is top-​notch, as are the lovely people who work here. Really high quality selections from various genres, from old Chicago house, classic Detroit Techno, Disco 12 inches, Rhythm and Blues, new experimental music, rock-​n-​roll, and more. The layout is minimal, with beautiful records on display, and comfortable bins to browse. All-​Day also supports local and touring musicians. I’ve learned about more new and old music from checking out shows, digging in the bins, and asking what’s currently playing on the turntables. Great record store, waaaay cool.

Amazing selection of vinyl — things I’d never been able to find in my favorite shops in Minneapolis or Chicago. Wonderful selection — a bit of everything, great prices, and they are clearly very involved in the local music scene. It isn’t too picked over — always likely to find something great here. There’s a bus stop right at the shop doors, so it’s great for popping in for ten or fifteen minutes while waiting for the bus. That being said, you could spend ‘all day’ here, just hanging out and talking about music! The staff are so friendly, and the shop is very welcoming — plenty of vinyl to peruse and comfy couches to sit on if you fancy. They host record release parties, though I haven’t been to one — they have a great space for it. Also, check out the little 1″-pin vending machine by the door — 2 quarters gets you a neat button! The little touches like that make this place something really special. Hope it’ll be a Carrboro fixture for years to come.

All Day Records is a great addition to the retail shops in downtown Carrboro. It’s a remarkable collection of new and archival records and rivals the best shops in New York (Other, Academy, Halcyon) for its selection and pricing. The indie rock, folk, and electronic selections are especially deep, but you’ll find all kinds of music in the well-​curated stacks.

A nice surprise! Visiting family in Raleigh, and my boyfriend and I had all but given up hope to find a decent record shop until we stopped here. Small but nicely rounded selection of used + new vinyl. Snagged quite a few sweet recs that have been slimey suckers to catch in the big city.
