History

Established in 1969.

When Steve Murray introduced a better traveler car for the Hobie 14 in 1969, he never imagined that his idea would unfold into the family-owned watersports business that Murrays is today. Evolving through the years, Murrays expanded from catamaran parts into other sports, first into windsurfing in 1979, then paddlingboards, and then into kiteboarding. We continue to be the leading supplier of Hobie parts and accessories for catamarans, and our product line also includes windsurfing and kiteboarding accessories, items for surfing, stand-up paddling, wakeboarding and hydro-foiling.

Murrays Sports is located in beautiful Carpinteria, California, a beach town midway between Ventura and Santa Barbara on the west coast of the United States. We welcome visitors during our weekday business hours anytime you’re in the area. Although we don’t have a showroom, you are welcome to browse through our warehouse and we are happy to help you.

Meet the Business Owner

Steve M.

Business Owner

Steve Murray and his brother Doug grew up in Los Angeles working and living at his parents swim school. Steve and Doug seeking their own ideas and passions were always up for an adventure and always looking for the «Next Best Thing». Little did Steve know at the time, that his enthusiasm for adventure and his desire to share his experiences would define his life and professional career. Steve’s way of life would soon become what we all know now as the «Hobie Way of Life».
