Skip’s Kitchen

I love Skip’s Kitchen. I want to tell everyone about it, yet I always feel torn. The more people I tell, the more crowded it gets. The food here is amazing!!! This place is my go to place for good food in a great environment. Skip is one of the nicest people, he greets everyone with a warm smile. His focus in making sure you have an excellent meal.

There aren’t many places that will cook to order a hamburger, but Skip’s will. If you can only get a hamburger well done then the quality of the ground beef is questionable. Skip’s is the Best hamburger in town! And the service matches the food!

Delicious. First time going to Skip’s. And it was everything the reviews rave about. Had the sliders with garlic Parmesan fries and it was very tasty. The people working there are super nice and it’s pretty awesome that the owner spends time with his customers. I love supporting local businesses and will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Good local burgers. This place is just around the corner from our house and I am thankful for the spot! These burgers are BIG and yummy well seasoned fries as well! Only comment on the burgers is they tend to be pretty messy due to the house sauce + ketchup, mustard, etc combine for a very wet burger.
I am giving four stars because we ordered the beef wellington bites and they were NOT good or worth the money… cuts of beef inside were overcooked and just seemed like the leftover bits that didn’t go in the burgers. Brie didn’t pair well either with the seasoning on the beef. Gross.
If you are making a trip out here, beware of limited seating! You may have to wait for a table because their dining room isn’t set up well… Only tables for parties of four so parties of two sit at the big tables and take just as long to eat… They could turn more tables if they adjusted a few of the fours on the far wall opposite the entrance into two tops instead. Until that day comes, bring a warm coat in case you have to sit outside!

Somehow ended up in this neighborhood and we didn’t know what was good to eat so we trusted the handy dandy Unilocal app to find us something good to eat. This is a really good local business serving up quality food. I was super impressed with the food and the establishment overall.
You get to try your luck at finding the Joker card and if you do your meal is free!
Hubs and I tried the mushroom and swiss burger and the western burger. Both were tasty. Next time I would like to try their mini beef wellingtons. Interesting! Keep doing what you’re doing!

My new favorite burger place in Sacramento! Try the Mac & Cheese Balls and the Sliders. So good! And i like the ‘Pick the Joker’ concept — makes it fun

I NEVER go on Unilocal… but this place was worth it!
We just moved into the neighborhood and I have found my new favorite place… almost afraid to post because they seem busy enough and I don’t want them to blow up too much LOL :) The food, service and beer on tap made this a 5 star experience! Thank you Skip… we’ll be back.

Service is great, and the food is even better. I ordered the BOM sliders with onion marmalade and the Mac Puppies, both were delicious. They also have a fun little game when you order, pull a joker from a deck of cards you get a free lunch! Will definitely come back.

Really excited I came across this establishment!
Read some reviews and couldn’t have agreed more.
Parking is limited so we ended up parking on the street. Orders are taken and you seat yourself when you’re done ordering. The workers were attentive and nice.
They allow for their guests to draw from a deck of cards. If you manage to find the Joker card, your meal is free!
Ordered the two bacon cheeseburger, criss cut fries, sweet potato fries, Mac n Cheese balls and 805 beer.
Everything was delicious! Mac n Cheese balls could use a more flavorful dip (they use the cheese base from the Mac n cheese).
Ended up spending about 34 $ for two people.
I’d suggest you to go!

My friend and I decided to come here for lunch and try out their burgers! I ordered the Mushroom and Swiss burger with criss cut fries. The fries was normal, nothing special. The burger was the best! It was medium well done patty filled with juicy flavored.
I definitely want to come back and try other burgers and sandwiches

— Western Burger: beef patty with cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, and an onion ring. The patty was cooked perfectly. The meat was juicy and flavorful. It was one of the best burgers I’ve had. I highly recommend. ⁵⁄₅

SERVICE
My friend and I were instantly greeted at the door. We were handed a menu to glance over. Before we ordered, we picked a card from a deck. Your meal is free if you pick a Jack. Unfortunately I didn’t pick the Jack but I thought it was a pretty cool concept. The young lady was detailed when she asked us how we liked our meat. She told us the medium well has a thin strip of pink, which was perfect for me. The owner greeted us at our table and staff members stopped by to check on us. ⁵⁄₅
FINAL THOUGHTS
Great food and awesome staff. I’ll definitely come back. All the burgers sounded good, I plan on trying them all!

Skip’s Kitchen is the best!
The service top notch. This is an order at the cash register, grab an open table and wait for your food type of restaurant. Usually when you go to these places you are left to fill your drinks on your own and kind of fend for yourself as soon as the food arrives. Not Skips! If one of their workers is walking by they will offer to grab you refills on your drinks or get you an extra side of whatever you need!
Everything I have tried on the menu has been delicious. I like to order their burgers or if I want something lighter, I go for a buffalo chicken salad. Don’t be afraid to make the wrong choice when you order because everything is good.
The only downside to Skip’s is that they are often busy. Don’t let that stop you. They do a good job at getting food out fast and they are defiantly worth the wait!

B.O.M. sliders were on point! Juicy patties with an onion marmalade, house sauce, and provolone cheese. The house sauce is drinkable! Not really… but super good condiment.
The criss cut fries didn’t taste house cut but they were cooked just right.
My wife had the cheddar bacon burger which was also bomb. Her onion rings were okay, didn’t taste house-​battered but were cooked well.
The service was amazing. Just tremendous energy flowing from these people. The service alone is enough to bring me back!

Skip’s Kitchen makes my list of BEST BURGERS in Sacramento! My boyfriend and I both like our meat medium-​well (just a little bit of pink), and I don’t think I’ve ever had a burger cooked exactly medium-​well that was as juicy as this one (4-​napkins-​kind-​of-​juicy!). They hand-​pack their 85% lean, angus/​chuck blend patties. You can taste the quality of all their ingredients. Fresh fresh fresh! The burgers run $ 9 – 10. They also have sandwiches, salads, and a few appetizers on the menu. Different seasoned waffle fries (like parmesan garlic) and sweet potato fries (with rosemary truffle oil), homemade coleslaw, soup, and broccoli are some of the available sides.
As soon as you walk in, you are warmly welcomed and greeted. Take a menu and order at the counter. After you place your order, you have a chance to have it paid for on the house, if you can pick out the joker in a deck of cards. That’s how awesome this place is! Who does that?!! So both times we’ve eaten here, we didn’t pick the joker BUT we were witness to other customers who did find the joker, winning them a free meal. All the staff are very friendly and attentive. Skip, himself, or the chef will come around and ask what we thought of everything.
Excellent food, excellent service, and an overall excellent vibe makes this casual neighborhood dining spot a 5 star experience!!!

After doing extensive research on Unilocal for the best burger place in Sacramento, I came across Skips, and decided that its rating was too good to pass up, and I needed to try it.
I took my boyfriend with me and when we first walked in we were super confused but the kind young girl at the front rescued us and told us to grab a menu and sit down, then order at the counter when we are ready, so we did just that.
We ordered the bacon cheeseburgers with grilled onions and buffalo chicken ravioli (small plate), all for around 30 ish dollars which I thought was pretty high so my expectations rose as well.
We were so anxious to get our burgers because everyone’s food looked so delicious. Well our anxiety didn’t last long because we got our food and dug in right away.
The burgers: Perfectly cooked. They cook them Medium but you can ask them to cook them for you anyway you like. We asked for Medium Well and we got exactly Medium Well. Perfectly seasoned, the cheese is not overly abundant and the bacon is cooked crispy, and I mean bacon is bacon you can never go wrong adding it to a burger.
The Buffalo Chicken ravioli was the real underdog here because we weren’t expecting much from it, but oh my was it delicious. We had never seen Ravioli done that way and this place is doing it right.
Skip, the owner, knows exactly was costumer service is all about. He is all over the place, taking orders, answering the phone, greeting costumers, chatting with them, refilling their drink orders, I enjoyed watching because he was truly genuine and its refreshing to see the owners take such pride in their establishments.
The employees we dealt with were great as well super attentive and all them greeted us with a big smile on their face.
So all in all, phenomenal job Skip’s can’t wait to go back!

Skips Kitchen is a great addition to Arden Arcade! We have been regulars since they opened last year (I cant believe I hadn’t Unilocaled them yet).
The burgers are some of the best around, the shop is clean, and the owner is just an all-​around nice guy. They also have a fun game when you order: they spread a deck of cards on the counter and if you pick the jack, you meal is free! What more could you ask for?

I give it a 4.5 for their burgers. I usually rate burger places by the first bite and if I love it. I think I mostly loved it. I’m rounding up because the service was awesome and I enjoyed my stay overall :)
I ordered a bacon and cheddar burger (medium rare). Although I think my bacon could have been a slight bit crispier, my first bite was so flavorful and almost perfect (just a little crunch with the bacon would solidify it…).
The fries were ok in my opinion. I’m not sure what was missing or if the burger was just so good it took away from the flavor of the fries, but they seemed a little bland to me. Not terrible, though!
As I mentioned, service was great! Staff was attentive and always checking in. The general atmosphere at the restaurant was fun and friendly and everyone seemed to be having a great time.
It’s definitely worth a visit. They do gourmet casual burgers right!

Skip who are you? Where are you? And can you please head to LA with your kitchen! I need you close to me! I should have known when I saw the line out the door that this place was going to be a home run!
The food here was incredible! Ok, ok, I might be a little bias because macaroni and cheese balls are one of my favorite foods but these were the best I ever had! The fried mac and cheese balls were cooked to perfection and I could eat them for days!
Also Skip’s Kitchen had unique menu items that I had never seen before, like their deep fried buffalo chicken raviolis. They were mouth watering good, so good that I didn’t want to share! I also ordered a veggie burger. It’s hard to find a good veggie burger that actually taste good! Hooray! I love that even though they had a small menu they still had options that worked for me. They had several different kinds of fries like rosemary sweet potato and garlic parmesan fries. Bonus points for having sweet potato fries!
Lastly their customer service is superb and they make your visit fun! When you get to the register to pay for your food, they pull out a deck of cards and ask you to pick a card. If you get the joker your whole order is free! How cool is that?!

This is the kind of place that you go out of your way to eat at… and you’re glad you did.
Both the service and the food has improved since my last review. They’ve taken it from good to great.

Seriously one of the best tasting veggie burgers around. Sweet potato fries here are also fantastic.

Burgers and El Camino Avenue don’t sound like they belong together.
Luckily, Sacramento has an affinity for the American delicacy and you can find some good ones, especially when you aren’t even looking. We came here later in the evening after the Lovebug’s TOC game, to celebrate their win!
The fam had been here and highly recommended it. I was oddly surprised, because I’d never heard of it before. Now, I’m not the all burger know-​er or anything, but I’ve generally heard about most places that server burgers in our area.
Well, this newbie was happily surprised. There are no frills to this place, which is usually a good sign. It looks like they gutted an old fast food joint and made it their own. There is a very sterile gray counter where you order. There are a stack of cards and if you don’t know what that means, then you’re in for a little fun. You place your entire order, then the employee spreads out the cards and lets you pick one. The card is either the Joker, which would entitle you to your tab being zero or its your order number for your meal.
Sadly, we did pick the Joker. I ordered the Bacon and Cheddar Burger. They will ask you how you want your burger, otherwise you get lots of pink. The burger was so huge, smashing it to mouth size was almost impossible. I loved that the bacon was cut up and they melted the cheese over the bacon and patty. The flavors and the bun were amazing. I didn’t really care for their fries, they were okay and ranch was used, but they weren’t my favorite. Everyonelse’s burgers looked amazing.
My Uncle loves the steak sandwich, which he didn’t even share a bite. My Aunt ordered the Grilled Cheese for the first time and it was good enough that my Uncle wouldn’t stop asking for bites (on top of his steak sandwich). Everyone was satisfied with their meal.
The other great thing was the that head Chef came out and talked to us a lot, but also made sure our meals were made to our liking. The server even cooked my burger even more and didn’t make me feel awful for not liking my burgers raw. The Chef talked with my Uncle about sports and the food, and he even went out of his way to re-​fill our cups, even though it was a self-​serve situation.
You can’t beat a place with good food and service, especially in that area…
