The Beauty Lounge

I really don’t trust people with me hair, but the beauty lounge did great!
With moving to carmel, I needed to find a new stylist. I have been to several locations and never went back due to bad haircuts and my hair being turned almost gray.
I ended up getting a groupon for a hair cut, style, a oil treatment and full highlights. Jessica did an amazing job! I left saying wow my hair looks amazing ! I highly recommend trying them out!

My wife threw me a surprise 40^th birthday party here. It was great. There was plenty of room, great food, and tasty beverages. The owner knew how to host a party. It was well thought out and I highly recommend it. Great location and easily accessible.

I must say I was pretty disappointed with my experience at the beauty lounge. I was extremely excited to be trying out eyelash extensions for the first time and was excited to learn about Beth, the technician had lots of experience and was certified through extreme lashes. Even better, I found a groupon discounting the process from $ 300 to only $ 89.
I’m not sure if I caught Beth on a bad day or what but she seemed annoyed when I asked questions and disappointed when I mentioned the groupon. What was supposed to be a 2 hour appointment ended up only being 45 min and when I asked about after care she was very dismissive as if I should know what to do. Even so, I decided to give her another chance and reschedule for a fill in 2 weeks.
Even after following her instructions I found the lashes looked lackluster within 48 hours and obviously fake although I had asked for a natural look. Now two weeks out I have just a few stragglers and am so happy I did not pay $ 300 for this service. I won’t be going back to the beauty lounge, because in my opinion if you charge a premium price you should offer superb service and I don’t feel like I received that whatsoever.

I went here in July 2013, and purchased a $ 60 Groupon to get my hair cut and highlighted. They were understaffed and I had to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time. The owner, Eva, indicated that they’ve been slammed since the Groupon went live, which I know a lot of new businesses get with the growing pains.
The real thing that made me livid was that at then end she offered to curl my hair. She BURNED MY FOREHEAD!!! This is the owner, not just a random stylist. She was very apologetic, and said she’s never done it before, then she went on to say it didn’t look like it would scar. Well, it did leave a slight scar on my face during 4^th of July weekend. She also still charged me about $ 30 to get my face waxed, apologizing while swiping my card.
I was not going to write a review because I felt bad for them as a small business… But saw that there was going to be another groupon for the Beauty Lounge. Be warned, if you don’t like waiting, getting overcharged, or getting burned.

Been coming here 3 years for spray tans mainly — all mostly fine. Just recently was canceled bc of a sick person the day before a trip to a sunny location (I’m very fair and don’t love sitting in the sun) I was not given much of any option to come in… no credit or anything offered. I get that people get sick but in my opinion — if you or the business is why the person’s appt was cancelled — you really should work hard to accommodate them and also offer some kind of credit to show appreciation for their inconvenience. Made the appointment a month ago so not super thrilled.
Update: I came for my new appt — the one they made me r/​s and they wouldn’t let me pay. Apologized for the inconvenience.

This was the worst salon I have ever been to. I have been getting my hair highlighted since I was 13 years old so I have been to many salons. First of all, the person who cut and colored my hair did a horrible job.
I told her I wanted caramel highlights, and she gave me bright platinum blonde highlights instead. When I told her they were too bright, she said that she liked them and I should lighten my eyebrows.
I asked her to put toner over the highlights so that they would be less bright. She did that and after she blowdried the hair, my highlights were bright orange. She clearly just wanted to get out of the salon because I was her last client.
The owner and manager came over when I looked upset, which I appreciated. She suggested we should tone it again. At that point it did look a lot better, however, the hairdresser did not blow dry my hair and told me that she wouldn’t have time to because she had to go.
After four hours I ended up blow drying my own hair.
When checking out, the hairdresser told the front desk to charge me an additional $ 60 for the toners. I refused to pay that because the hairdresser messed up on the color and was therefore responsible for the cost of it.
The worst part was at the end. The owner told me that was fine that I would not have to pay the fee of the toner.
She said, «you don’t have to pay, but just promise me one thing.»
I said,“what’s that?“
She said, «promise me you will never come back here again.»
I was so shocked. No one has ever spoken to me this way let alone someone who is trying to run a business. I told many other people about my horrible experience, and all agreed that they never heard of anything like that before.
I don’t write reviews on Unilocal a lot however I felt the need to for this particular experience because it was so bad.

I have had my hair done ALLLLLL over town. I am a stylist hopper. I am loyal for as long as I am able to continue to get into my stylist; which means eventually I have to move on, b/​c their schedule becomes too busy. I don’t like making hair appointments 6 – 8 weeks in advance. That being said, my friend and colleague at CAbi works here. Kirsten Federau is awesome! She specializes in color and has given me two awesome cuts. I let her hack off 6 inches of my hair and I haven’t regretted it at all. She is very affordable and takes her work very seriously. She wants her clients to be very happy! She also loves doing up-​dos and has styled my hair for three different events. I always get a TON of compliments when she has touched my hair and when she styles, it looks great for a few days! I love that!
I have been to the Beauty Lounge for other events and the place is stylish, trendy and easy to find. It’s a cute little salon in downtown Carmel and is well decorated and has great massage chairs that feel awesome while getting my hair washed. I love the light fixtures and the fun «girls night out» they host offering fun hair tips, nail polish changes and a wine tasting.
My go to gal is Kirsten, so I highly recommend her if you are looking for someone new!

I would avoid the nail services at this salon. The technician was very inexperienced and my pedicure began chipping 4 days after my appointment, while my «no chip» manicure began chipping after 6 days. Very disappointing especially given the high prices of both services.

I discovered The Beauty Lounge through a great Groupon offer that included full highlights, cut, and Moroccan oil treatment. Convenient location on Main Street in the Carmel Arts & Design District. Services provided include full hair services, eyelash extensions, make-​up, manicures, and spray tanning.
I like the atmosphere at The Beauty Lounge. It’s modern, tidy, and uncluttered. Some product is available, but it doesn’t feel like you’re stepping into a Beauty Supply store. The Beauty Lounge is all about your beauty experience. There’s a calm, zen-​feel to this space… as a matter of fact, I think there’s a small yoga class hosted upstairs. This offers the unspoken message regarding the care of inner beauty, too.
Eva Harris is the head stylist. She’s very professional and her experience includes celebrity photo shoots and being named an Indy Monthly Top Stylist. I would feel intimidated and uncomfortable in an overly chi-​chi salon. Beauty Lounge is chic yet welcoming and comfortable. Eva listened to my hair goals and I’m really pleased with my new highlights. I should have taken a pic as soon as I left the salon…
Sounds like they have a new eyelash extension offer on Groupon. Overheard the receptionist explaining that they use medical-​grade adhesive for the healthiest hold and long wear. Also, I’ve seen some photos of Eva’s hair & make-​up styling and would highly recommend her for a special event or bridal party services. If I finally finish my book, I’ll be making an appointment here to get beautified before my author photo…
