Friendly service and didn’t have to wait a long time for food. I really enjoyed my cola bbq bacon burger and subbed for a turkey burger patty. Had a larger party of 8 and all our food was correct.

The Carmel Max & Erma’s always has super friendly, fast service. I’m a huge fan of their salads, they have the classics, and also some new, in-season flavors! They are delicious, I’ve always liked my food here.

Went there for dinner last night and had Karen as my server. She was fantastic! She was beyond friendly and helpful. Our glasses were always full and she gave great recommendations for the menu. I would come back purely because of how nice Karen was.

The best food I ever had. If you have a bad review for this place you do not know what good food is.

We had a good experience for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were seated right away and our waitress was very on top of our order and drink refills. we had a $ 10 off $ 30 coupon so went for dinner entrees. I got the filet with mushrooms and it was good, but not sure I’d get it again. It came with mashed potatoes and I also got the asparagus which was really good. It was the best part of my meal. Ok, well actually needed to buy a cookie so we got 2 and they were served warm. I am pretty sure they are always baking cookies since they were pretty amazing. We both got the white chockate macadamia nut. Soooo good!

We went there for a late lunch recently on a Friday afternoon around 1:30. I had been there once before about a year ago, and remembered it being ever so slightly better. The place was dead, and we were seated immediately. The service was average and pleasant enough, but the food was nothing out of the ordinary. Matter of fact it wasn’t even hot when it was served to us. This always perplexes me in any restaurant, but especially when a restaurant is not busy whatsoever. For starters, the onion rings appetizer was not hot, and to make it worse, they were beyond extremely greasy. It was basically unpalatable. We only ate a few before we couldn’t eat any more. We should have said something to get them comped off of the bill, but we let it slide. The sandwiches were also not hot, and the fries were stone cold. I know one thing, the lukewarm sandwich I can deal with, but the fries, hell no. We did say something to the waitress and she brought out fresh(?) fries. They were a little hotter than the original batch, but they were still average tasting overall for being ‘seasoned’ fries. When all was said and done, I can safely say that we won’t be back. Two times was ONEMORE than too much and enough. I seriously think that if they don’t get their act together, I wouldn’t be surprised if they shut down in the near future.

I would give this a zero star but this is not an option. We were in town for an event that ran past 11. We phoned ahead to confirm the close time of 12 as posted and the area has very few non-bar restaurants for a family to frequent at that time. The person on the line was so rude when we asked about the close time we chose to skip school the experience!

Was alright service was great but food was just alright. Got a steak with a special orange sauce that tasted like candy. Don’t know about going back to there.

Got take out. The chicken parm was edible but not tasty. The grilled chicken literally tasted like a little tikes piece of rubber chicken. It’s hard to taste that full of plastic.

Came here with my wife and brother-in-law for lunch. I ordered the Greek Goddess, my wife had the chicken/beef fajitas and my brother had the French Onion Soup. My salad was good. Hearty amount of grilled chicken, feta and olives. The fajitas sauce on my wife’s meat was gooey thick. Kind of odd. And my brother said his onion soup was really salty. So I got the best meal and they got a «eh» meal. Overall, our service was good and the food was alright. My salad was a 3 star, but the fajitas was 2 star. And based on the first statement after taking a sip of the onion soup — well, you guessed it.

First off, or waiter was clueless as to what gluten free is and kept making mistakes and contaminating our meals with bread. If we hadn’t caught him then my mom would have been in serious pain for the rest of re day, so good thing we did. Other than that the other meals were sad, sad fries and strangely — wet burgers. Will not be gong back.

I love their reward program. I got a free cup of tortilla soup with my purchase. Also, I got my 6 birthday cookies. This time I tried the Cajun turkey burger. Great choice.

I had high hopes for the establishment since we live nearby and has heard the raves from local friends. Unfortunately our mark was missed by a long shot. It started off promising with the unusual décor, not expected but I really enjoyed it. we sat in the bar which was not crowded whatsoever. But our waitress was taking for-ev-er. She was very friendly once she arrived. But when she finally took our order, about 10 minutes after we told her we were almost ready… she may have been helpful with our selections but I can’t honestly remember due to the cigarette smell the lingered all around her. She can smoke if she wants, I don’t care, but it’s not pleasant to be smelling while I am trying to order food. Not one bit. She had clearly taken her break between pouring our drinks and taking our order. I have been a server before and you just don’t wait that long. Especially when there is not a large crowd. Then the delay is very obvious. We order, get our bland food. Burgers and chili. Forgot my side, everyone’s human but I wanted it when I started my meal so I couldn’t eat until she came back with it… another 5 minutes. Then I had an empty water glass for a very long time. Another strike. Poor service, underwhelming food, and an unearned high price… thanks but no thanks.

We stopped on a Sunday late morning with family from out of town. I ordered Turkey burger(no fries) substitute tortilla soup. My food arrives fries no soup. Ok. not a biggie just bring soup. No soup bc they forgot to turn on the soup. My husband received a bowl of soup that was microwaved but when she went back the soup was burnt. Ok. French onion is fine. It arrives cold and extremely salty. I couldn’t eat it. The wedge salad was drowning in dressing. Overall, the service was slow and scattered. There were only 3 parties in the restaurant. I won’t return.

What a delicious company treat Max & Erma’s was! We went here for lunch as it’s located quite close to our office and I think that it was a great choice indeed. I’m an American; I’m a fan big burgers and fries. I can’t help it. Luckily Max & Erma’s have award-winning gourmet burgers, so this was right up my alley. After gawking at their never-ending menu for what seemed like hours, I finally decided on the Garbage Burger for obvious reasons. With a name like Garbage, how could it not be good? Something tells me I made the perfect choice for this weekday afternoon. The burger was comically big with toppings stacked to the ceiling. I had to cut the burger in half just to look like a human while I was eating it. I would have just dived right in if I didn’t have coworkers to keep in mind. This magical Garbage Burger was carefully created with«everything in the kitchen sink.» Either Max and/or Erma piled on hickory-smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, American cheese, mozzarella cheese, caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, guacamole, and marinara sauce. My arteries are clogging just thinking about this monster. Despite my best efforts, the burger was too tough to eat like a civilized human being. I gave up and just went for it – luckily I still have my job and didn’t freak anyone out too much. The burger was served with their seasoned fries, which collectively was enough food to leave me bursting from the seams for the rest of the day.

Havent been to Max & Ermas for a few years. as craving it one night and treked over to the Carmel locataion. Never had been to this location before, it was super clean and nice and the staff was on point. ordered the tortilla soup which is different thatn anywhere else and the best in my opinion. Got the Tony’s Bodacious Bacon Cheeseburger. It was awesome and huge(i got the Max size) and perfectly cooked(medium). It had a great garlic/goat cheese/cream cheese spread on it and the bacon marmalade added the right amount of sweetness. The cookies, which we took a 6 pack home of were great. The lemon cookie was a sleeper hit and our fav overall.

I have not been to a Max & Erma’s in years. First of all, I was super sad that our party was so large because their patio looked absolutely amazing. They didn’t have your typical outdoor furniture they had the chairs that looked like couches! We happened to be there on a Wednesday which right now means free cookies with a regular priced dinner. We had our two little ones and they did not have their chocolate chunk cookies ready for us, so they gave us 2x the amount they were supposed to of their chocolate chip(which were amazing!!). I ordered their tortilla soup and it was amazing! We had great service from the moment we stepped in until the minute we left. We will definitely be going back to this particular location!

It’s Max and Erma’s. Not a place I would pick to eat, but alas when there is a group, I’m always agreeable. We were staying in the Hampton Inn across the parking lot, so it was convenient enough. Free cookies on Wednesdays… that’s fun. It’s fine for your all-American plate of nachos/chicken quesadilla/sandwich with fries. As someone coming in from out of town, I’m just looking for some local flare, not M&E’s fault, no doubt. Our server was friendly, she had to look up the specials twice, but she got the job done and no one at our table seemed to have any issues with the way the food was prepared. So, I’d say it was delivered as promised, but I would recommend making your way to arts district for a bit more character with your meal.

In the 80’s, I lived in Muncie, but was in Indy a couple of times a month on business, and Max and Erma’s was my go to chain restaurant while in the area. In the 90’s and early 2000’s, Max and Erma’s appeared to be going through an identity crisis. The menu seemed to be different every time I went there, the food and service were very spotty. I went without even visiting a Max and Erma’s for, probably, 10 years. A year or so ago, Holly and I decided to visit this location of Max and Erma’s, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was outstanding(LOVE the burgers!) and the service was excellent. Decent specials, prices are reasonable, and the servers seem to be always capable of answering any questions we may have. It does seem, at times, the are a bit understaffed, and the wait staff is a bit harried, but they handle it well and we’ve never had an extended wait since returning as patrons. One downside… to me, the restaurant seems quite loud. They could do with a little sound baffling here and there.
