Massage Envy

My hubby bought me a 60 min massage. I went to redeem it and I guess the minute you walk in the door your time begins. I checked in… I had an appointment. I had to wait 10 min… my massage time was ticking. I got in the room, got undressed… and then massage began 20 min after I arrived. I checked the clock when she started my massage… and checked it when it ended… it was a 40 min massage! My hubby paid for a 60 min massage. Not right that they basically start your time the minute you walk in the door. Very disappointed.

Very unimpressed. This place is very unaccomidating, never has enough staff to schedule a time that works with your schedule, and to top it off, once you get in, the massages arent relaxing at all. The therapists dont seem to be well trained or have much experience. Then you leave not wanting to return because before you even got to the lame massage, you dealt with the uncaring, unfriendly people who set the appointment for you. It was just an overall poor experience and I wont go back. Its cheap for a reason!

Just ok… It seems like I always get the new person when I go but the prices are cheap so I will keep going:)

Very misleading. Was told when I signed up that they’d also have a downtown location soon, and that after my 6 month term was up I could cancel at any time without penalty. I decided to cancel because that downtown location never materialized and they are trying to stick me with an extra month’s charge to cancel. Will never do business with them again, filed a complaint with AMEX.

OK– so time for an update to Massage Envy– I have been going now for almost 3 months– at least once a week– its cheaper then a chiropractor. I have started working out 3 – 5 times a week, including 4 miles a day on a treadmill & 2 miles of biking minimum, which has left my hamstrings and gluteous muscles very tight, Nick rubs the muscle in my gluteous (that’s my butt hehehe), and I will be the first one to admit– I am a bacon loving, butt rubbing whore. A friend of mine calls me Peggy Bundy then repeats that infamous «Aaaaal, rub my tushy» line. I have now joined as member– well worth the savings! I have not missed a week yet, and in fact took a girl friend in for a couples massage when she came down to visit from Chicago. We had Nick & John, both tried to remain professional, but its really hard when you get the two of us in a room, we get a little raunchy & obnoxious together. The guys didn’t seem to mind and said it was one of the best massages they ever gave, because we had so much fun talking. I will not give up this addiction for the world, and its one that I would STRONGLY recommend others start!

Last year when we were feeling ultra exhausted and neglected, my guy and I decided to try our local Massage Envy for some respite. The special offer of an introductory $ 35 massage reeled us right in.
Of course, on the way out of the clinic, we were given the sales pitch and being in our noodle-​like and somewhat spaced-​out state, we decided to spring for a year’s membership.
Over the year, we often did not have the time to schedule a monthly appointment and now have several massages piled up, ready to be redeemed. Now, we do have more time, but we haven’t always had the best experience here and so aren’t heavily motivated to use up our massage «credits.» Twice, we have booked — or at least thought we booked — the couples room, only to arrive and find we are in separate rooms. Okay, I guess you could say that it’s our responsibility to check and double check that we have the requested room, but then again, if the staff were on their toes, wouldn’t they have a way of putting something in our profiles or proactively confirming at the time of booking that this is what we want? The other annoyance is that the staff seems to turn over here — we’re not even sure that the two female therapists we went to twice in a row are even there anymore — my guess is «not» because we were not asked if we wanted to book with them after our 2^nd time seeing them. Also, I may be too picky, but not all the therapists or front desk staff always appear neat and tidy.
Bottom line: the monthly contractual massage of $ 39 ($ 49 for 2^nd household member) is not a bad deal, but you more or less get what you pay for. When our contract runs out, we will return to our prior $ 75 therapists — we’d rather pay more less often and get the experience, skill and atmosphere we prefer in our bodywork.
