Here at Carmel Cyclery Bike Shop in Carmel, Indiana, we consider service the heart and soul of our shop. We are here to help riders of all ages and experience levels get what they need for great bike riding experiences.

We offer friendly, personalized service for all types of bike riders on all types of bikes. You can get help and tips from our road racers, our mountain bike experts, our family bike riders or technical advice from the best bike mechanic in central Indiana.

History

Established in 2007.

We want you to get off your computer and out on your bike! Bike riders of all skill levels need a family friendly bike shop and that’s us! Our Service Manager and head mechanics have over 20 combined years of bike shop experience, with Specialized, Fuji, Schwinn and other lines of bikes. We first opened our business on Rangeline and 126th and then moved to Carmel Drive four years ago. We also run a charity called Bikes4Kids. In the past seven years, we have given over 900 bikes out to children and adults who would otherwise not have a bike to ride! You can drop off your gently used bike and we will give it to a child or adult who needs a bike!

I bought a bike from these guys a few weeks ago. I’m kind of starting over, after four decades of not being on a bike. I got a nice one speed from them and they were very good to deal with. I decided I needed to put some handle bar brakes on as I didn’t feel comfortable with the old-​style pedal breaking. They had the part for me in two days and got it right on. I was very impressed with their sales and service department. Would I go back there again? Absolutely.

HAVE AGAIN: rented a bike for 1 hour for ride on Monon Trail. Very friendly and helpful staff. However, they should have checked my size to adjust the seat.

I brought my 80’s road bike here to get fixed up. I was very happy with the customer service and affordable prices. They also finished everything in a matter of 3 days. After 2 new tires and a tune up, I feel like I’m riding a brand new bike! I highly recommend this place for bike service, couldn’t be more pleased.

We are from out of town and decided we would rent bikes to ride the Monon Trail. We were told by a number of shops in Broad Ripple (in mid-​June) that they «do not rent bikes this time of year.» Needless to say this was weird and frustrating. We found Carmel Cyclery in the midst of our frustration and they went WAY above the call of duty. They set up 6 adults with 5 children with bikes, helmets, trailers, and trail tips. They were more patient with our chaotic crew than we deserved. No matter what you are looking for, rentals, tune-​ups, new sales, the crew at this shop is so gracious and knowledgable they deserve your business and you will not be disappointed.

I stopped in here after riding the Monon to inquire about getting some air in my bicycle tire that was low. The employee was very friendly and immediately took my bike to the back and filled both tires with air. I offered to pay and he replied «Awe. Don’t worry about it.» Awesome!
I then asked about their tune-​ups and he gave me all the info ($ 75 for mine) and answered the questions I had about how long, etc. I’ll definitely be returning for the tune-​up soon!

The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and not pushy in a sales-​y way. This is what a local store needs to be to compete, survive and thrive in the Amazon economy. They cannot compete on price so they have to add value in other ways, and this place does that.

Great family-​owned business that cares about their customers and the community. If you need a bike, accessories, repairs… or have an old bike you would like to donate to charity this is the place! Love the location near the Monon Trail as well. Last time I needed my tire repaired– I was in and out and back on the trail. Highly recommend them.

We purchased a small pink hotrock bike for my daughter from Carmel Cyclery recently. The staff made sure it was a great fit for her and she was so thrilled. On several other occasions, we have stopped by for routine maintenance including the time my pedal came off while riding the monon! I’m a recreational biker and even though this shop has everything for the serious bikers down to novice, these guys always take their time to suggest & explain things as if we were the only ones in the store. We always receive great personal service with a smile… a scarce commodity these days. I highly recommend Carmel Cyclery. Family owned and local is a big plus.

The only reason this place is getting 5 stars is because of Myron… what a great guy. He was extremely friendly and very accommodating. Always smiling and willing to help. It was a painless process to get the bikes. Walked in, got the bikes, Myron adjusted and we were on our way.
While biking, I managed to run over a push pin and my tire was going flat. Good thing it happened in Broad Ripple but bad thing I had to be assisted by The Bike Line. Wowwww what a difference in customer service. Didn’t appreciate the slow service and the slight attitude that we got from not only 1 but 3 employees. Carmel Cyclery was more than happy to pay for whatever service was done to the bike but you would have thought that was rocket science for the Bike Line to figure out.
Anyways, I will definitely always get my rental bikes from this place! Thanks so much for a great experience!!!

How did I not know this place was here?
I’d taken our bikes to The Bike Line for a couple of tune ups and minor repairs, and was charged several hundred dollars. I absolutely was in shock.
Fast forward to THIS year, when we needed a flat fixed on my wife’s bike. We went to Carmel Cyclery, and it was like stepping into another world. Friendly, helpful, and they seemed to REALLY appreciate our business. We were taken care of in no time for a VERY reasonable price. We’ve been there a couple of times since, and it’s become our go to bike shop in Indy. Great work, Carmel Cyclery!

Been here about 3 times, this is the easiest place to go if I am on the Monon Trail. I don’t know a whole lot about bikes so I thought this would be a good place to take my bike because it wouldn’t quit squeaking. The guy who helped me was very helpful and willing to take a look at the bike and even put some lubrication on to see if that would fix the problem. I was asking a lot of questions, again because I don’t know a lot about bikes and one of the workers (seemed to be in charge) interrupted our conversation and told me that if I wanted the problem fixed I would have to leave my bike. After that the guy helping me kind of stopped being interested in helping me. I bought some of the stuff he used on my bike and it seemed to fix the problem.
The whole reason I went in to a local bike shop is because I don’t know much about bikes. It would have been nice to learn some things about how my bike works but apparently my questions were annoying and I needed to leave my bike or stop talking. BTW there wasn’t anyone else in the store besides myself, so I hardly think I was inconveniencing the three employees that were working.
I am willing to pay more for good customer service but it would be nice to ask questions without feeling like I am bothering the employees.

Excellent bike shop. I messed up my bike and needed several repairs. Derek took the time to clearly explain what I needed done. He was non-​judgemental and kind. I’m not a young racer type and other shops tend to look down on us regular people. I also had the bike tuned up for $ 20 less than Bikeline down the street charges. This place sponsors local rides and gives back to the community. Give them a chance.

I have not purchased a new bike for myself since I was a kid when I bought one from a Western Auto store on lay-​away. When I stopped in the Carmel Cyclery I was impressed with their huge inventory and the responsiveness of their staff. The sales person, Scot, recommended a bike to just fit my body and my riding needs. He was very knowledgeable about riding and bike mechanics and accessories. Although I paid quite a bit more than I would have at a big department store, I think it will pay off in the long run to have a bike that fits me properly. I expect to get the same great service when I take it back for a tune up after putting some miles on it down the Monon Trail and beyond. Thank you Scot.

Honest. Fair pricing. Great service. Good repairs. They even rent bikes. I switched to Carmel Cyclery after Bike Line down the street ripped me off on a new tire repair (they made me pay for an inner tube although I didn’t need one). Locatted right on the Monon Trail. Family run. Service while you wait. And free air. As good as a bike shop gets.

i took my bike here for what should have been a very simple fix (adjusting brakes and gearing); i could probably have done it myself but i lack the proper equipment. i felt confident taking it here with their prime location and lovely store. however when i got the bike back it seemed to be in exactly the same condition as before. after riding it around the lot, i took it right back in to explain my dissatisfaction but they ended up just trash-​talking the bike … so they did essentially no work (they didn’t even bother lubing the thing or inflating the tires), blamed the bike for the poor performance, and never offered my money back. i might have deferred to their credibility, but afterward i took it to another store which ended up fixing the problem (without any trouble) for less than this place had charged me! i dunno if my bike happened to get stuck with some trainee (the guy did seem particularly young), but this place seems to lack competence. And yet they’re not afraid to take your money! a dangerous combination… avoid these poseurs!
