OMG, i can’t wait for this place to open back up again. By far the best chinese cuisine and byob restaurant around. The wontons in peanut sauce are to die for and the staff is always extremely friendly. Great environment, people and food is outstanding. Highly recommended.

Great food. Great service. Always a great option for dinner with friends. Family owned. Intimate small setting, makes you feel like you’re in a restaurant in NYC. Tina and Louise do a great job!

Cozy little byob with excellent food! Been coming here for years the boneless ribs are excellent as well as the dumplings and shredded beef! Service is great as well !! Very small maybe 10 tables you may have to wait a bit on the weekends but so worth it!

I’m thinking we have a little Emperors New Clothes going on here. I’m pressed to say the food was anything more than average. The scallion pancakes, you have to get the scallion pancakes everyone said… so I got them, they are good, but don’t understand the rave reviews. I ordered Tangerine Beef. Crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside, had 3 bites and the rest was brought home for my dog. Their version of Cold Sesame Noodles had too much spice and not enough Sesame flavor. The service is great, the atmosphere is upbeat, the prices weren’t outrageous. I won’t go back, but it’s worth a visit to see what all the fuss is about. One note for the Larger Sized readers, this is not the place for you. It is Very Tight inside, table on top of table. I imagine it would not be a comfortable experience. The real show if you get a window seat is watching the Pizza Delivery Guy from next door who is Napoleon Dynamites Twin. I’ve never seen someone move so fast!

Tina Louise feels like your local little place where you’re always welcome and always a friend. The food is delicious, wonderfully presented, and generous. Gluten-free friendly. BYOB is a bonus and keeps the check almost ridiculously low.

I have been coming here for years and I have to say I enjoy it very much. The boneless ribs are delicious, pan fried dumplings are equally delicious. I have tried a lot of the selections on the menu and I don’t have any complaints. I went there tonight I had the Honey Chicken which was spicy and very good. My wife had Orange Beef and it was also very good. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious Chinese Food. I don’t see how anyone could complain about the prices or potions. I spent $ 108.00 for Boneless Ribs, Pan Fried Dumplings, Orange Beef, Honey Chicken, Two Cappuccinos, Lemon Sherbet & two to-go orders, Chicken and broccoli & Chicken and string beans & another order of Dumplings for the kids. I don’t consider this expensive. The service is friendly and attentive.

I have been hearing about this place for many, many years and finally made it out to eat there this past week with my family. We loved it! We will be back for more soon, promise!

Great Chinese food without the oil permeating the food. While it is a bit of a drive(30) minutes it is worth it. Love how they decorate the plates and the service is always impeccable.

I hadn’t been here in at least 10 – 15 years and the owner, Louise, was as pleasant as i remember years ago and she remembered me from when i was a little kid! The food was just as awesome and fresh as it was 10 – 15 years ago! how is that for consistency!!! I highly recommend this place — Their scallion pies, tangerine Beef(YUM!), filet mignon, general tsaos combo(chicken and shrimp — this was a special) and their flat noodles in black bean sauce(also a special) — everything was great! If you catch them on a busy night, street parking can be tough and its a small little place so I’m sure if it fills up, there may be a little wait but worth it! Will definitely be back!

Don’t eat here unless you want small portions and high prices. Food is slightly better than takeout but compared to Chinatown restaurants and Petite Soo Chow in cliff side park, it is overpriced and sub par. Ordered the xao long bao(soup buns) dry, small, most likely frozen, not homemade. Noodles were oily. Left full but disappointed and still craving soup buns.

Way too expensive for lunch!!! The portions are way too small. They need either to lower prices make bigger portions or have a lunch menu. With that said the flavors are very good. Top five in the area. Until prices change I will not return sadly.

I’d go 2 ½ stars on Tina Louise… not that their food isn’t better than 2 ½ stars(it is)…just that the type cuisine may not float my boat when seeking a Chinese food meal. This is not ordinary Chinese food… it has a distinctive flair, for both better and worse. The pan fried pork dumplings were as good as we’ve had anywhere. The dumplings in peanut sauce were very salty but ok. The ribs were fair. All the portions are very small. For entrees we had house special fried rice, which was good. Shredded pork dish that was very good… very spicy and a shrimp dish that also was pretty good. Service is very nice and people are willing and friendly. We’ll probably put Tina Louise on our coveted, Sunday night Chinese food rotation for now.

In the area, this is the best Chinese food. The menu is not massive like the typical Chinese takeout place. There is a nice variety of dishes. I had the chicken teriyaki appetizer and it was very tasty. The sauce was not too sweet. The sauteed shrimp was very good. Next time I want Chinese, I’ll head back here!

One of my best friends absolutely loves this place, so every time I am back in JErsey she forces us all to go here. To be honest I like this place, staff is nice, its BYOB, there is a liquor store very very close, and their food is pretty awesome. They have a lot of smaller dishes as well to try so you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a good idea of multiple palates here. It really does have a homey atmosphere at this place too which is good when you are among old friends who you already don’t see enough. They are never rude to rush you out or make you hurry up, and if you get here early enough there isn’t any wait. I have been here many times and never had a bad experience. My advice? Go now, before this place catches on and then there will be a constant wait to sit!

Excellent Sit-Down Chinese Restaurant! Small portions/small prices on appetizers are a huge plus… makes you able to try more things — always a plus! Dinners were tremendous & service great, very attentive as well. Love the«at home» feel! Will be back!

I came here for an office lunch. It’s Chinese New Year so they encouraged us to order the special«Rice Cake Noodle» appetizer. I must say it was extremely tasty, but VERY oily. I tasted the Boneless Spare Ribs which were yummy. I also tasted the Sesame Tofu which was cooked VERY well. This was my favorite thing. For my meal I ordered the Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce. I thought it was OK. The Green Tea Ice Cream rocked. You really taste the Green Tea. I also like how they serve chocolate fortune cookies! Overall, I have come to realize, that all the«Village Gourmet» restaurants are OK. I’m never blown away, but I’m also not dissatisfied. The lady working, she may have been the owner, was really funny and cool.

Recommended by local friends. Small, but nicely decorated. BYOB, but there is a convienence store just a block away to buy wine/beer/alcohol. Service was fast and efficient, and particularly enjoy the«sassy» waitress: D Food was VERY good, nice variety of choices, but be careful — the soup was HOT when it came out! Wonderfully tasty though! I don’t give 5 stars, but would have given 4.5 if I could: D

Went there last night for a combo Fat Tuesday/Chinese New Year. Louise always adds some new dishes for the New Year celebration. Last night we had an app. of rice cakes(get them if you can) as well as our usual spicy dumplings and boneless spare ribs. Yum! I had one of her specials for the holiday which consisted of chinese broccoli(similiar to broccoli rabe) with onions scallions and your choice of chicken, beef or scallops and shrimp in a light brown gravy. I went with the scallops and shrimp. Awesome meal. And of course, Louise always makes us feel at home. Love, love this restaurtant…
