Witt’s Carlsbad Pipelines

I needed a hoodie so I sadly got one here that targets me as a tourist. I kept saying in a fake eastern European accent: «look at me. I am to be riding American surfing board yes?» to alleviate the shame.
Anyway, when we were rung up, the guy clearly asked for $ 43, which I questioned because it was 20% off of $ 38. Nope, no mistake. Is tax more than ten percent? Nope. But 20% off of 38 is 32… it can’t be… more than $ 40 with tax. Finally the manager comes by and gets the calculator and says the correct price $ 38 or so, and the kid says that’s what I said. I was upset to see him lie, so in frustration I asked my wife if we should buy somewhere else, to which the manager replied, Do what you got to do.

I would’ve returned it if I was given a receipt, which I didn’t.

We showed up at Witt’s with no idea what we needed & wanted for our 7 year old, but were hoping to get a skateboard in time for her lesson that morning! They were super helpful, took purple trucks off another board for us AND had the perfect board all decked out in well under an hour — and even called when it was ready 10 min earlier than expected.
My brothers & husband have been going here for years for all their surf needs — now I know why. Thanks, Carlsbad Pipeline!

So there were two people working there during Halloween. The first was REALLY HELPFUL. He was dressed as a hippy and could sell. He listened to what I wanted and tried to match the product to what I was saying within reason.
Then his coworker butted. in. She was rude. First, she interrupted him and stole his sale. That’s messed up. Then, she claimed that what I wanted was not what I needed and was pushy when she said that one single product was what I should buy. I needed to buy a leash. A 7′ long leash that I wanted to use on my semi gun in 12′ to 15′ waves for trips up North to SF. Lived there for 11 years, and that surf his big, mean, and powerful. She claimed that she knew what she was talking about because she took a trip to Nicaragua. Big. Fucking. Deal.
You kidding me?
Let me put it this way: I am the customer. I have a magic square of plastic that money comes out of and it only comes out of it when I am happy and get what I want. You are a business and you want to make that magic happen; me smiling with product in hand and you with my money in your register equals repeat business and a good Unilocal review.
Look, greet your your customer within 5 seconds of me walking in, ask me if there is any questions that you may be able to answer (NOT can I help you. That is assumes I don’t know dick.) Then I either ask a question or say «no, I’m good». If you are selling me product, ascertain what I want and WHY (something that clerk did not) and either show me what I want, special order that shit, or tell me that you don’t carry that product and can’t get it but you can point me in the right direction.
I know, it’s a surf shop and I should expect the people there to not really know how to sell anything. But that guy dressed as a hippy was doing pretty good until his coworker who knew nothing of how to sell butted in. Mind your business when your coworker is working his magic.

The staff was very helpful and they had a great selection of swimsuits. I am a bigger guy, so i knew finding a swimsuit in CA was going to be difficult but I found a great size 40 right at the store. The staff was super welcoming and they have their own parking lot which was nice.
They have dressing rooms.
Con: kind of expensive. But it’s a touristy surf shop and I needed a swimsuit ASAP because I forgot mine.

I came in this surf shop to get a pair of sandls. The manager is rude and the employees are not much better go across the street you get better selection and better prices 30 year celebration? In business! What a joke. The place is a dive lossy parking and cheap left over merchandise. Dont waste your Time or your hard earned money! You have been warned…

I love the village for so many reasons and pipeline is definitely one of those reasons! I’ve worked at Linda’s yogurt and deli for 15 years and have gotten to know a lot of the employees at Pipeline, all of which are very nice, knowledgeable and I look forward to seeing them whether I am shopping or making them a sandwich etc! I have bought at least 10 pairs of reefs from there and I love them all! Tonight I bought two new pairs! One pair w black with gold sparkle straps and the other pair are freaking amazing! They have swellular technology (feels like walking with less impacT) amazing amazing I love them!!! I also love the clothes and they have amazing knowledgeable employees when purchasing surf boards or skateboards!!! All experiences I have here are an A+ and I love this shop!!!

If you ever visit Carlsbad and need beach/​surfing items, look no further and check this place out. This store not only sells good stuff, but they also have outstanding customer service. The dude that helped me, gave me a discount on a shirt that I bought for my daughter because it had some chalk like markings that I know will eventually come off after a few wash. Also, I thought that it was funny that their register printer ran out of ink so the guy that helped me had to write down the SKU, price, and quantity on a blank piece of receipt paper for me to sign. Nevertheless, I will still definitely come back to this place the next time I visit Carlsbad.

This is a cool local shop, Witt’s a nice guy that has been active in Carlsbad for a awhile. Everyone here is usually pretty nice and helpful. Last time I went in there it was pretty bleak with what they had. Very small selection on stuff. I know it’s small, but there could be twice the stuff in there organized nicely. Just breezed through it about three minutes. The board section was very small. Cute place, but not much there.

Haven’t seen a better run store in a long while. Witt continues to help out the locals with great stuff and the tourists with the much needed essentials of a beach day. He only carries the best stuff that’s out there and that is all you need to know. This place holds a big place in my heart.
If you are visiting this lovely city of Carlsbad and are planning on going to the beach, might want to stop in here and double check you have everything you need.

The store has what you need. The guys are willing to help but the female employee’s unpleasant demeaning attitude complete with eye rolls and under the breath muttering will keep me from returning in the future.

Just got a skateboard for my son. GREAT customer service! Small store with a great selection. We even found some slim shorts that we had been looking for. Amazing pricing to top it all off. We will be back for sure!

We have shopped at Witt’s since the 80’s. Great local surf store with pleasant and courteous service. Thanks to Witt for always providing us with honest prices and knowledgeable service.

Great customer service, especially since we’re not the target market (we’re older, don’t surf, were looking for tees and shorts to take home). The guys behind the counter were friendly, took our request seriously and helped us get what we wanted. Would definitely go back when we’re in the area.

This is what a local surf/​skate shop is supposed to be. They know their products, and they’re always totally honest. I get all my gear here!

I recently brought my nephew into your shop while visiting my Carlsbad water front home. It such a pleasure to be treated so nice even when some of the staff know who I am. I don’t get bothered for autographs and such… an occasional photo is fun with your staff. Eric who helped me get my son some items was such a helpful young man. What polite and knowledgeable attitude he had. A real cutie and definitely an asset to your business. I am still laughing at how my nephew and he spoke about a surf board and things I never even understood about TREKS. and REDS. I mean all this skate knowledge is what keeps young people sport enthusiast and out of trouble.
Eric was a very helpful young man… He made our visit fun, and very educational for me.
