Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa

I am a SPG member and this is the second time that we come to this hotel. Came here 2 weeks ago and stayed on building 1, which I really enjoyed. Arrived here tonight and they said rooms are full even though I reserved 2 weeks ago. This time around they gave us building 2, which is a complete shit hole. Room smells and the view that is supposed to be ocean view is a parking lot view. I told the front desk and their response was that I should check back tomorrow. I’m very disappointed and will probably never come back to this hotel.

I found this hotel through Priceline and was amazed at the experience we had. The hotel staff are kind, welcoming, and accommodating. She gave me a room close to the pool on the first floor when seeing that I had my 3 children with me. The pool is a kids paradise. It is large, but not deep, spacious, there is poolside food service, ping pong tables, fooze ball, and corn hole games in the sand. I liked that it is open 24 hours and so conveniently located. The room was spacious and pillows and bedding were very soft! We were so pleasantly surprised and decided to book another longer stay here in a few weeks. Great experience!

This hotel is very clean and not to be weird or anything but the hotel smells very good inside. Very spacious inside and plenty of parking. The staff members are very nice, came here for a conference and was barely walking up to the building and the employees helped us out very fast and showed us were to go. Very cool.

Nice vacation spot for the family. For the kids you have Legoland down the road. For the adults you have a spa, pool and a decent restaurant. As like most resorts they have a business center with complementary wi-fi.The pool area has been remixed, removing the outdoor bar and replacing it with a pool table, ping pong and two foosball tables. Poolside fun for everyone. While you are at pool try The Break, a new mini kitchen and bar. As soon as you drive up everyone’s very attentive. Checking in is a breeze but if you have to wait there’s plenty of space to hang around or explore. They have a fitness center available but if you’re the outdoors type there is couple of running trails on the front and backside of the resort. I have to mention the regular staff that help run this resort. No matter what time it is, they always greet you with a smile. Lets remember a luxury vehicle cannot run without a well maintained engine. This is one of the reasons I keep coming back.

Great location. My family loved it. Direct access to Legoland. Nice pool. Market place could use some updating. Doesn’t have much to offer regarding food and only one person working. Line gets really backed up if people order coffee, which was the case with me. Also, the gym didn’t have cups for the water. They really should be monitoring this. Could be a risk. Elevators at building 2 is very slow. Only 2 working and competes with housekeeping.

Naomi the receptionist is first rate — I’m waiting and waiting for my room — it’s frustrating — Naomi solved the problem of never really knowing if your room is ready unless you ask which requires waiting in line over and over — by telling me — I recognize you now when ur room is ready I will motion to you and you will not have to wait in line — I will just hand you the key — now that is good service

Front desk was very helpful and polite. They accommodated us with a room on the top floor as requested. Our room was large for me and my family of three. We stayed for three days and two nights and enjoyed our stay. The one flaw is parking BUT they do offer valet. We would recommend this place to a friend.

Spacious rooms, comfy beds, right across the street from Legoland (with private entrance for hotel guests), and the staff is (for the most part) really friendly. We had a room facing literally nothing, so it was nice and quiet with the exception of the kids next door who were sometimes out on the balcony.
A few things though: random daily fee (which I haven’t figured out yet) in the amount of $ 12 besides the overnight parking… (We got a DVD player which is listed on the website as included with the room, but they wanted you to rent once you got there for $ 10 a night. The fee may have included that… maybe.) Parking is a little weird, but super convenient IF there aren’t a lot of people there. If you are fortunate enough to get the underground parking, you’re only feet from your room. However, if you’re not, you may find yourself on the opposite side of the complex in the lot shared with the Hilton next door. (Meh. The walk on that second day was no fun.)
Also, my personal annoyance almost EVERY time I go to a hotel: we were given enough coffee for three strong cups and a couple teabags also, but our «condiment package» included two creamers, two sugar packets, and two Splenda packets (like anyone voluntarily uses that horrible stuff). As one could imagine, one would prefer to have a certain minimal amount of sugar (i.e. at least one per drink) to use, but…
OH! One more good thing: if you do decide to get the DVD player, there’s also an ethernet cable and jack in the room, so if you have Netflix /​Amazon video at home, you can use your account here at no extra cost! Sweet!
Overall, I really enjoyed our stay and hopefully we can go back soon.

My committee and I recently hosted a conference & expo at the Sheraton for a group of meeting planners, and our attendees only had wonderful things to say about the facilities and staff. Meeting planners and suppliers with high standards who were blown away by this hotel? Can’t argue with that!
The views from any part of this resort are beautiful. Adrian and Chris and their team were so accommodating to our needs and were excellent hosts. Everything about our event ran smoothly because of the attentive front desk and banquet staff. I like that the conference space is separate from the hotel rooms and front desk, and these are connected by the Twenty20 restaurant.
Personally, I stayed in one of the hotel rooms, and I was impressed by the cleanliness and modern state of everything. Lovely landscape and overall seamless experience. I wish I had time to visit the spa and spend more time there. Perhaps I’ll have to make a trip back to San Diego and stay here again!

Not impressed. Only reason we stayed here is because of location next to Legoland & we used SPG points. Evening staff not welcoming or friendly and no club lounge. We had to call twice for rollaway bed & robes. We were told it was 100% full, so upgrades (even though Platinum members) were not possible. Sunday buffet was nice & staff very friendly– even offered togo cups for our coffee.

This is a gorgeous hotel. The double room was nice with a sliding door on the first floor that led to the patio that looked out over a beautifully landscaped grassy area with palm trees and flowers. The shower and bathroom was clean, spacious, and new. I really enjoyed staying here. The staff was nice too. There was a free shuttle that took us to «The Village,» a downtown shopping area with boutiques and eateries. They even offered to pick us up too! Just make sure you tip your driver for good karma. I highly recommend staying here. It felt luxurious.

This hotel is amazing for both pleasure or business while in Carlsbad. The rooms are very well kept and spacious. The facilities are amazing with pool, jacuzzi, gym and spa. The on-​site restaurant has great food and a perfect bar for a drink to get your evening started.
All of the staff are very outgoing and helpful. From check in to housekeeping that you will see in the hall, they make sure that you are well taken care of on your time there

What a delightful place!!! The check-​in staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly. The lobby, pool area and restaurant were clean, well lit and designed, bustling and full of very pleasant workers. We had both dinner and breakfast in the 20/​Twenty restaurant and loved it. High priced but excellent quality, fresh ingredients and beautifully displayed with attentive servers. The bar’s specialty was a very wide variety of whiskey, bourbon, scotch and rye that was impressive and diverse.
Our room was pristine. The bathroom was spacious and spotless. There were good options for the kids on TV (and adults too). The one and only complaint I might make was the mattress we slept on. Waaaay too firm! Ouch. But the quiet atmosphere, unobtrusive maids, and easy layout made it an incredibly relaxing weekend getaway. And being able to use the hotel parking lot for «VIP» access to Legoland was pretty cool and convenient. Thankful to have been there.

The Sheraton Carlsbad is my go-​to hotel anytime I am in Carlsbad on business. The hotel is always well kept, clean and fresh, it doesn’t ever seem old or outdated. The valet staff is always so helpful the moment you drive in, and they make it seamless every time you leave and return. The front desk staff is great, always very helpful ensuring my SPG account is attached to my reservation so I can get points for my stay — and I must say, Dennis, one of the front desk workers is awesome. We had such a nice conversation when I checked in recently and he immediately put a smile on my face after a long day of travel and meetings.
My corporate contact Cathy Boxley is a total superstar and takes incredible care of not only my entire company, but me personally. She is a joy to work with and she has made every stay such a great experience, which is always a plus when you’re away on business. On this recent trip, I was upgraded to a suite and it was fabulous — you have a full bathroom, bedroom and living room — incredible and comfortable! Additionally, they offer a complimentary breakfast lounge M-​F from 6:30 — 9:30 which is perfect for a quick breakfast before heading out, or even just to grab a coffee to go.
In addition to all of the above, they have a great restaurant on-​site called the Twenty 20 Grill where we had a large company dinner during our recent stay and a major event as well — they were so accommodating and both events went off without a hitch. The food is great and bartenders are also fantastic.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Carlsbad. You will be thrilled with your stay.

I think the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa is a dream for families with kids who want to go to Legoland, a parent who wants to golf and a parent who wants a spa and anyone who’s into all of the above. I don’t fit into any of those categories.
We chose to stay here because I had work to do in Del Mar /​San Diego and this looked like a nice place and I didn’t want to stay any further south. Indeed, it is a very nice place. We were upgraded to an ocean-​facing room with a balconette which was a lovely room, though the ocean is far away. Through the garden, across the parking lot, through more vegetation and there is the shimmer of the sea.
The staff is all very friendly and accommodating. I had some water and extra towels requested through the stay and each time, they were brought by individuals who appeared to be maintenance from the way they were dressed, rather than housekeeping. It wasn’t an issue, just curious.
Twenty/​20 is the only on-​site restaurant and we had breakfast there which was fine. It was quite irritating though that we were there one morning (~9:30) and the grounds-​crew was mowing and weedwacking right in that area with really loud equipment. Couldn’t they do that when it wasn’t right in the middle of breakfast?
The other gripe I have with the property is that it is nearly impossible to navigate in the dark. We checked in late at night, and were told that there was open parking lots by our building «across the way» from reception. There’s like 4 different «across the ways» I discovered once I left the main building. The buildings aren’t marked, the parking lots weren’t in fact open (valet only) and finding the right gate to enter the lower garage was impossible to find.
All in all, a nice stay, though I am not sure I’ll stay again until we have children who want to go to Legoland while I enjoy a day at the spa.

Review for December Christmas Time.
Family with one child who is 10. Our primary reason for visit was to go to Legoland. So this hotel is right on for that. With the back entrance (opens at 10) or the shuttle to the front gate was perfect. We got a «coastal view room». Yes you can see the ocean… But beware its way in the distance. See my photo. You are actually overlooking the parking lot and other property. I would NEVER pay to upgrade to that view. Another con was I can see parking being an issue. As the week of our visit went on we had to park farther and farther away.
Okay enough of that. Now to the good. The hotel is clean. Fresh and nice. We stayed in building 2 and I would try to stay in building 1, but they didn’t have an upper floor ready so we opted for bld 2. The only reason it is actually a walk to the pool/​spa and main lobby.
We only used the food for pool service. Kids menu for all of us. It was yummy, but wouldn’t eat in the restaurant.
The rooms are standard. Mini fridge which was helpful.
Bell hop was mostly super friendly. They will take you anywhere within 5 mile area.
This hotel I think is more for business friendly than family friendly because of the reg room and the pool was not young kid friendly.

Beach near by.
Carl Strauss at hotel on side of LL has a great brunch Buffett. Kids 5 $ and adults 12 $. So worth it!
Food and outlet shopping near by.

Booked a room 4 months in advance for my daughter’s 3^rd birthday for our Legoland visit. When checking in at the front desk, room was not ready in time, had to wait 15min for our room key. I was fine with that since they comped us a free movie and popcorn. We had our room key delivered to our friends room and went out to eat afterwards, once heading back and getting to our room we than found out we where given a handicap bathroom, one that is wheelchair assessable (No BATHTUB!!!). We’ve called the front desk and they could not change our room because the hotel was completely booked and they explained we’ve booked through expedia so the minimal requirement where only met in terms of room size, 2 queens, etc. The messed up part they failed to mention the room did not have a bathtub not to mention they saw me and my wife pushing a stroller in with 2 kids. I was very upset and could not give my kids a proper bath or let them use the restroom as I was afraid they would slip and fall from the ground being so wet from after using the shower. This hotel is full of lie’s. What upsets me the most I did check in with the hotel manager (young guy with glasses, forgot his name) at the time when checking in, we had a friendly chat about vacationing with kids and I found him to be very friendly but he failed to mention we’ve got a handicap restroom! To top it off we where given a porch view of a drive way, cars literally drove by and where physically 2 yards away from our back porch. Shame on this place. Not recommending this place at all.
Note to anyone if you’ve booked through expedia or any other 3^rd party reservation service, be prepare to be on the bottom of their list or short changed.

Visited over Labor Day Weekend: Stayed One Night
The resort is spacious, well furnished, great amenities, and the staff was courteous. We had some difficulty getting onto the internet, but once we did it was smooth sailing. There is a private entrance to Legoland that requires a walk from the hotel lobby, through a parking lot of another hotel, and down a small hill. It will put you next to the Hideaway playground and within a 5 minute walk to the Waterpark. You do not get to go into the park early.

Located next to Legoland, you’ll find this nice resort to be full of great amenities. They have a fitness center, heated pool, and restaurant. Along with that, the large resort features two views: golf course or ocean. While the golf course view is the cheaper option, the ocean view can be a nice one if you ask for an elevated room. In the room can expect the usual mini-​frig, closet, walk-​in bathroom, ironing supplies, and television.
I found this resort, not hotel, to be extremely hospitable. From the moment I pulled into the large drop-​off area I was greeted with more than just a hello. The valet and attendants welcomed me to the Sheraton, and had quite the pleasing tone. It caught me a bit off guard as I could normally care less. Entering the impressive lobby I was greeting warmly by the concierge, Jessica, who was very helpful. Taking her time, she was able to answer a ridiculous number of questions and even more ridiculous follow-​up questions. While maintaining her professional attitude, she explained to me what we could do about the rooms, the views to the beach, nearby amenities, and hours for facilities at the resort. It was refreshing to know that my car could be in an underground garage, and that the pool was accessible at hours.
The rooms were very clean, and the quality of linens and towels were up to a higher standard than most hotels. Overall, I was quite impressed with not only great service from the cocierge, but also the place for it’s crisp, clean, and warm feel.

Oh Sheraton, you had me at Hello!
Upon entering I was greeted by the bellhop & then treated like a celebrity. Please roll out the red carpet Nicholas!
There’s a shuttle that takes you within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. They also pickup you up from the airport. The upkeep of the room is impressive, the attention to detail & accommodating my needs leaves me in awe each & every time.
This hotel is beyond beautiful. It’s inviting yet cozy. The property is huge & well kept. The gardens are immaculate. There’s a spa here along with a pool that is open 24 hours.
I walked into the marketplace to buy a razor since I left mine at home. There was a sign that read «Please see concierge should you need assistance». Adhering to the sign I walked over to concierge explaining to her that i’d like to purchase a razor.
She told me not to waste my money because she has a free razor. Free? No charge? For me? Yes, please! I also asked if she by any chance had shaving cream. She surprised me with two different kinds. I’m forever grateful.
The staff goes above & beyond to accommodate your needs. You feel the warmth & hospitality radiating throughout this hotel. There’s pleasantries being passed all around.
My room is huge, with the most amazing bed ever. The bathroom is reminiscent of my own with such a flair that I can’t help to imagine what it feels like to live here ²⁴⁄₇. The balcony is amazing. I have the perfect view from my balcony that overlooks the palm trees & flowers.
This hotel is the perfect getaway for a romantic stay. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting in the Carlsbad area.
