The staff at this branch, including managers Michael and James, are exceptionally helpful and kind. On two occasions they have helped me track down wayward deposits — one from my mobile deposit app and another from my PayPal account. They were patient, professional, and persistent. Bravo!

Been banking with SDCCU for a long time. Periodically they have Shredding services which is why I visited this branch today. They take your shred material and in it goes to the shredders of Shred It!!! No muss no fuss. Such an easy process. Get there early or there will be a long long line but still worth it! Thanks SDCCU for being a great banking service and for doing these shredding days!!!

I have banked with SDCCU for about three years. Recently, we had a family emergency due to a medical situation which involved getting cash deposited into an account at another bank(B of A in the same mall) so my husband could withdraw it in another state where he was recovering. This was for medication that was required that day and was quite pricey. I walked into the bank and tried to deposit the cash but was told I could not do so because the type of id I was using was expired. I understand that rules apply but I have been with this particular institution for over 20 years and both of our names are on the account. Plus, I was putting money into the account. and mentioned they could monitor the withdrawal to the pharmacy on the other end. There was nothing«sneaky» about what I was trying to do. After explaining the situation to the manager, showing the id which was only a month expired(due to the same family emergency) I was told I could not make the deposit. I called my husband and he texted a picture of himself with his id next to his face to get the money deposited. I asked the manger to make a judgement call and was refused. even after pleas of desperation, asking to speak to corporate. you name it, so I could get my husband his meds. I explained I had been with the bank for actually, almost 30 years and to please consider making a judgement call as I know the manager could override this rule. After asking for exceptions, I received a smug smile from the manager with a stern«no» and was sent out the door to try to figure out how to get the money. Clearly, the manager here enjoys his authority. Desperate and in tears, I went back to SDCCU to see if they had any ideas. To say the folks at SDCCU were sympathetic, kind and helpful is an understatement. Michael, the branch manager, went out of his way to walk me back to B of A, talk to the manager and then took additional steps beyond his job description to ensure my husband got his medication that day. Of course, B of A still pressed the issue and tried once again to actually, be unhelpful, but Michael was able to figure out a solution. He was calm, cooperative and so helpful and when I say this was a life or death situation, I mean it.(Interesting how the SDCCU guy has to tell the B of A man how to manage a bank). SDCCU is truly a community bank for people that live in San Diego, willing to go out of it’s way to help it’s clients when large banking is happy to turn it’s back on someone who has banked with them for 30 years and in a life or death situation… I am truly grateful for the crew at SDCCU in Carlsbad as is my husband, and our children. we really appreciate you and your team… Thank you so much!!!

I am very pleased with the services I have received at the new branch of SDCCU in Carlsbad. In particular, I wanted to thank James Mejia, the Associate Branch Manager, for his excellent customer service and professionalism. James has gone above and beyond in assisting my mother and me anytime we needed help. I have found that this branch operates like a «small town» bank where individual customer service is the priority, and James has lead the charge in this regard. I have also been impressed with other employees at the branch, such as Michael the branch manager, as well as Miguel, Maryssa, and Stephanie. This branch has earned both my business and loyalty. Keep up the great work!

This branch has a policy of not breaking your bills for you if you do not have an account with them. Their reasoning is that with so many counterfeit bills of such good quality, they have no way of tracking the exchange back to you if they discover the bills are counterfeit. They claimed that customers had told them another major bank had the same policy. I went across the parking lot to Wells Fargo who cheerfully exchanged the twenties to smaller bills for me. I did not indicate to them if I was a customer or not. Both tellers refused to exchange my bills but the second teller checked with the supervisor, who reluctantly agreed to allow the transaction. I bank at another Credit Union and typically Credit Unions support each other through mutual sharing of ATMs on the Co-op network. I had just withdrawn the cash from their ATM. The supervisor did say that they sometimes break bills if customers present the ATM receipt. In this case, the ATM had run out of paper to print a receipt. In my opinion, a bank or credit union should have the ability to verify bills at the counter or have alternate mechanisms in place to ensure it can perform as simple a transaction as breaking someone’s bills for them. It is already difficult to get change at a store or restaurant and now it seems harder to get change at a bank or credit union. This credit union has obviously focused on its own interests before that of the customer, be they a member yet or not.

I’m new to SDCCU and I have to say this branch is impressive! Jana helped me refinance my auto loan and made the process quick and painless. I wish I would’ve joined sooner! The staff are professional and courteous. It’s located in a new shopping center with lots of options before our after you stop in the branch.

Both Michael and James are excellent leaders and good examples at SDCCU Of how to treat the customer right. When ever I have any banking questions I have been treated with respect and a high degree of professionalism. Additionally, that theme is carried throughout the office. It’s a pleasure banking at this new modern office. No wonder SDCCU consistently wins honors yearly. GaryJ

I usually don’t go to this SDCCU location because I’m very comfortable with a different location. However, the times that I have gone to this location there is never a wait and they are always super friendly. I would definitely recommend James as your go to guy. He helped me out a few times before and definitely was my life saver yesterday. He also made everything clear and thorough on things I was not aware of in my account. I definitely will be going to this location more often.

I love this bank. The location is very convenient and it is never crowded. All the tellers are very nice and helpful. Banking just got more easier for me. There are 2 atms at this location as well.
