InterContinental IP handles patents, trademarks, copyrights and other general issues related to inventing and protecting/​trying to make money from your intellectual property. We charge fixed prices for all of our patent, trademark and copyright filings, so the client knows exactly what the charge will be before we do the work. In the event of an initial rejection, we will quote a fixed fee for responding.

We have successfully obtained well over 1,000 patents, trademarks and copyrights in the US and many foreign countries. Our Managing Attorney, Eric Hanscom, has extensive experience in the Asian manufacturing scene and brings his first hand knowledge to our clients’ international concerns. We also have of-​counsel attorneys who are software developer/​patent attorneys, business attorneys and litigators.

We are located right by Palomar Airport in Carlsbad and initial 30 minute consultations are always free.

History

Established in 1995.

Eric Hanscom founded InterContinental IP in 1995 as a sole practitioner. Since beginning his practice he has added the legal talents of Todd Langford and formed long-​lasting associations with numerous foreign attorneys and law firms. InterContinental IP has grown into an international practice that has allowed for small business individual attention to our clients while offering many large business amenities.

Business Owner

Eric was born in Hawaii and grew up in beautiful San Diego, California. Eric has always believed in balancing his professional life with outdoor activities and environmental protection. He has spent most of his life within a mile or two of the Pacific Ocean and has always enjoyed and appreciated the ocean. As a teenager, Eric competed in surfing and took 2^nd place in the 1980 ASA California State Surfing Championships. Before dedicating himself to Patent law, Eric excelled at surf kayaking and was the 1988, 1989, and 1990 Surf Kayak World Champion.
