Friendly place with knowledgable staff. They will take the time to talk through the options and work with repeat customers to make their car last. If in doubt then let them at least change your oil so you can scope the place out.

My husband and I have been taking our Toyota Corolla here for over two years for maintenance and have always had a great experience! They tell you what needs to be done, what should be done in the future, and discuss with us so we can prioritize. They work quickly so we can get our car back same day even when working on multiple things at once. This is our go-​to mechanic and we highly recommend!

Very poor mechanics, I have left the shop with my car not working correctly multiple times now. Last time I had to bring my car back THREEE times for the same problem. After a couple unacceptable «repairs» and talking with the owner, (who has the worst customer service I have witnessed) I have decided to take my car elsewhere.
Also Daves is overpriced, which I dealt with because the shop is so close to my house. I would approach with caution for anything more than an oil change.

I rolled up to Dave’s needing to have an emergency fix before driving all the way up to LAX airport. The tire air valve stem on one tire was leaking air anytime I removed the air valve cap. I didn’t have an appointment but Rich the auto technician and Will immediately accommodated me and went to inspect my tire. I needed my Schrader air valve core replaced. Not only did Rich switch out the defective piece and put in a new one, he proceeded to fill the air on all four tires to ensure my driving safety. As I went to pull out my wallet, Will said that there would be no charge! He understood my situation and didn’t charge me for the part or service. I’ll certainly be back for my automotive needs and next service. Thanks!

I took my 2008 Toyota Sequoia in for a oil change. Usually I go to dealership but thought I would try Dave’s out… So glad I did, the price was right, the service was exceptional along with the prompt great service. Thanks you Dave and crew, Sequoia drives like new! I will now be going to Dave’s with all my vehicles for now on.

Recently went to this auto shop to have my brake rotors resurfaced. Not only was the cost so reasonable, but they went over an beyond in cleaning out my back pads and adjusted my parking break for free…
Will is so very courteous and kind… My friend went with me and he was very impressed with the way my car was treated that he has now starting going there as well. Great business for sure!!!

I’ve only gotten oil changes here, but they’ve always been great. I tried to go to one of the chain lube places for an oil change, but when they tried to upsell me, I knew I should just go back to Dave’s!
I should note that, as a woman, I kind of dread getting my car serviced. I know more about my car than do most men of my acquaintance about their own and still, mechanics are usually rude and condescending, if not outright trying to scam me. Everyone I’ve ever talked to here has talked to me straight and been really chill. I appreciate that.

I have been going to Dave’s for 2 years now. We have 4 cars in our family so it can get expensive. Wish I found this place along time ago, the owner Dave and his manager Will are awesome! Always honest, quick, and they try to find the cheapest price on parts, etc… I never feel ripped off or lied to at Dave’s! Thanks guys!

Really great customer service. I had trouble with my car and I had to go back and drive to bay area. I ask them to diagnose my car because Im not sure if it is the battery or the alternator. I was glad that they are honest people and told me the good news the next morning that I only had to replace the battery. They charge me with a very reasonable price and got me back to the bay area with no car trouble. Thanks again

I owe Dave’s Auto service several reviews, but I keep forgetting to write them.
They have given me outstanding service on my 1996 Toyota Avalon, which currently has 195K miles. They only repair what needs to be repaired, and they will keep my car overnight just to make sure that a part needs to be repaired – I really appreciate this kind of honestly and I doubt you would get this at most auto dealerships – all they would care about is getting you in and out ASAP regardless of the cost!
I have nothing but the utmost respect for mechanic Rich – he is absolutely the best at what he does. And Will gives fantastic customer service in his role of scheduling your service, asking the right questions, and following up.
If you are thinking of taking your Toyota to Toyota Carlsbad, give Dave’s a call first – you will not be disappointed!

My car battery died on Carlsbad Village Dr. in the pouring rain yesterday, 7.19.15. I searched Unilocal for the best mechanic in Carlsbad, and was led to Dave’s. I arrived just before the doors opened at 8am, today, 7.20.15, and Dave greeted me with a handshake and a smile, asking «how can we help you today?!» No joke — Dave and his employees are the best! Not only did Dave let me know my own personal installation of my battery was all that was needed (he didn’t sell me on anything unnecessary), he also took about 15 minutes out of his day to sit and talk with me about our common interests in family, sports, and San Diego in general, while my car was being worked on. I was on the road, with confidence in my car (a 2011 Dodge Challenger R/​T, 6-​speed manual transmission) by 915am! Major thanks to Dave and his mechanics and technicians! I would recommend Dave’s Auto Service & Repair to anyone!

Dave goes out if his way to make you feel like family! He has even offered my son his personal truck when his truck took awhile! Who does that? Dave does! He has been our local go to guy and actually tomorrow I hope to bring my car in for services that they never tried to push on me, but suggested! I will have them all done by Dave’s crew! So blessed to have a local man love and be there for my family! Just for you that wonder, I only have met Dave twice and my husband used to work I the business and knows a great guy when he meets one! He totally trust Dave!

I was driving back to Los Angeles to San Diego on a Sunday light when my check engine light came on. I took the next exit and ended up in Carlsbad. After a quick assessment I realized I couldn’t drive anymore. Saw this place had five stars and the next morning took my car to Dave’s. Let me tell you, they deserve every star. Will the manager was professional and honest and really tried to help me out. He got my car fixed and on the road in time to beat the traffic. Thanks again Dave’s! Im so glad I found Dave’s Automotive! I have a 2007 Mustang that is my baby. My check engine light went on and took it to a local shop to see whats wrong. The shop didn’t know what the code meant and never called me back. This is when I thought I need a Mustang professional. So with the help of Unilocal and some Mustang blogs I came across Dave’s Automotive.
I immediately called and talked with Dave who owns several Stangs himself. I booked an appointment for the next day and they looked into the code issue, along with a plethora of other issues I was having. Once they had some time with my car they called me back with a wishlist of repairs from immediate needs to future repairs. He even solved one of my major issue by suggesting I do a cleaning service on my throttle body verses replacing it right away. I reviewed the list and did everything I could afford at that time. My pony runs like a champ now. I’ve been back to fix the remaining items along with all future maintenance and couldn’t be happier.
I had no idea how bad my car was running until I had all the repairs and services done. My 2007 GT Mustang is running like the first day I got her. I think it’s as hard to find a trusted mechanic as it is to find a dentist, vet, doctor etc. I’m stoked I found Dave’s Automotive! His team of mechanics are my Mustangs doctor.
