Carlsbad Volvo

I bought my Volvo from Escondido Volvo. 6 months and 10,000 miles later I had a rod knock and the engine needed to be replaced. I Contacted the Owner, Mo (he owns Carlsbad and Escondido) and worked out a great deal to have my car repaired at this location. Frank, the Service manager, was extremely understanding and flexible. I highly recommend all Volvo owners to at least give them a call before going else where.

I have bought many cars — never has it been as smooth, as convenient and as pleasant as it was today when my new S60 E-​Platinum was delivered to me Palm Springs. When I went to the local dealership, I had a salesperson that literally had barely, if at all, finished high school and knew nothing about Volvo cars, specifically the S60. We left. Dealing with Dave Ehlers and then Steve Campbell at Carlsbad Volvo was a joy. They got me better financing then I could find on my own, they found the exact car I wanted with only 1 or 3 things I’d otherwise not buy but with the car so competitively priced it was very fair, competitive with other dealers and by that I mean, not a better price for the car I wanted could be found. Buying a car can be so stressful, and by reading reviews below it seems Carlsbad Volvo has its stretches too. That wasn’t my experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend buying from this dealership to anyone, and I definitely recommend asking for Dave or Steve. If only I lived closer for service!

My wife and I had an amazing experience here in our new car endeavor. Mark was our salesman and he was hands down who I’m looking for when I’m new car shopping. He was very knowledgable and humble. At no time did we feel the «pressure» to buy. Mark also checked in with my wife to make sure she was happy and everything was going well the day after the sale. Paul his manager was great too! We highly recommend you checking them out! They gave us a incredible deal and we would go back again for our next car without a doubt!

The «service» department at Carlsbad Volvo is completely overwhelmed by more than 1 customer at a time. Prepare to wait for absolutely everything…
Carlsbad Volvo’s service department is the polar opposite of a Lexus or Audi or Jaguar dealership.
Chronic, systemic staffing and management problems have eroded any good will the Volvo brand might have given this dealership… This is simply not a responsive, customer focused dealership.
Do yourself a favor and avoid them

Horrible service from day one! Be careful with the sales people and when purchasing a preowned vehicle. They claim to do a multi point inspection but you’ll notice things they didn’t check. What’s the point of buying certified preowned! I had to bring the car in several times so they could fix something that should have been checked when they did an inspection.
Don’t buy the Teflon package, it’s a scam for them to make more money! The company never calls you back if you have a compliant and it voids the Volvo manufacture warranty! Why would you recommend it to your customers!

Carlsbad Volvo is AMAZING! We had an incredible experience there last week! I called a couple times in advance and spoke with both Alexandra and Dave, and they were stellar. Extremely helpful and informative, and they didn’t pressure me. And then going to Carlsbad Volvo in person was fantastic. Sam and Dave were phenomenal — they took their time with us, explained everything, didn’t pressure us, and made us feel very taken care of. We had complete trust in the staff at Carlsbad Volvo. We had called and gone in person to MANY other Volvo Dealerships in the Southern California area, and overall were very disappointed in how we were treated by most other locations, but that was not the case with them. We have only great things to say about Carlsbad Volvo! The perfect experience.

I had the best buying experience from Carlsbad Volvo! My girlfriend and I had done lots of research and we were not too happy with dealerships in Los Angeles, so we called Carlsbad Volvo. They were very polite and professional on the phone and we got a good vibe from them right away. We decided to make the drive down and we were greeted with the nicest people ever. They answered all our questions, showed us a few different options, and we ended up making the best car purchase we have ever made! The process was so simple and afterwards they sat down with us and showed us how to use our new XC60. I love this dealership and highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy one of the safest cars on the road!

From beginning to now we are completely dissatisfied!
1) We felt that we were pressured into the purchase (which is our fault) but ended up agreeing to having them put in the after factory navigation. When I left they told me to let them know if anything rattles. The charger plug never worked correctly and the radio suddenly turns off at times :(
2) overall service has been horrible! They’re not open on the weekends (how convenient for the working class). They do not have/​offer loaner cars when your car is serviced for more than one day.
Here’s an example from my most recent visit. My battery died on my 3 year old SUV on a Friday, I called AAA to get a jump it b/​c Volvo would take a lot longer. I let it run as directed. The next morning it wouldn’t start again, AAA jumped us and we drove it to Volvo. It sat there for two days as they don’t do any service on the weekends. Monday morning my husband called and the battery tester wasn’t working… so Tuesday when he called the battery tester was still out but they were going to replace it anyway. They were also going to fix the charger plug and look into a noise on the front right side. It’d be ready Tuesday afternoon. My husband called multiple time and never got a person or a straight answer so he asked me to call. On my second attempt (first was a transfer to a mailbox) they told me the car would be ready in 45 minutes. When I got there 2 hours later with my two young children it still wasn’t ready. I came back an hour later and a nice man apologized.
We can still hear the noise on the front right side so I (my husband refuses to deal with them anymore) called them. The man told me it may be my axel. I asked for a loaner car, he told me that there would not be one available until next week b/​c they only have 3. But don’t worry it’s safe to drive my car with my babies until they can get me one…
STAY AWAY!!!

Team has been very helpful in my search for the perfect SUV. Very informative and not pushy. They are a veteran staff who will no doubt treat you right!

Unbelievably poor customer service on a recent repair and complete unwillingness to resolve the situation. Please take your vehicle elsewhere for repairs!

So, I am pretty sure Carlsbad Volvo has their salespeople sign away their integrity and teach them how to commit the unethical act of «bait and switch». Went to CV to look at, and potentially purchase, a «new» car they had on their website. I had the unfortunate experience with one of the rudest sales girls I have ever met. When they finally came out to let me know where the specific car I asked for was, the gentleman proceeded to tell me the car is not for sale, and until it has 7000 miles on it it will be for sale as a «used» car. Why would a NEW car for sale on the website be NOT available until it is a USED car? Not only did CV lose a solid customer, who needed to buy a car today, they are losing a Unilocal! Star. Well it shows they are living up to their reputation. I would highly recommend the drive up to Orange County and bypass these pieces of s#*t.
Next day… I would like to say thanks to Carlsbad Volvo for being so horrible. You made me not even want to buy a Volvo! So, I took my business to Hoehn Audi– Carlsbad and had the best, mast painless experience ever!!!

The first time here we had a great experience with Alex. When we came back she wasn’t here but there was a very rude woman we had the pleasure of meeting. Then when we asked to see the car we drove from San Diego to see that is listed on their website with a good price we were told that car isn’t for sale and that it’s only a loaner car. So let me get this straight, you post it online as «for sale» with a low price to get us in here then tell us it actually isn’t even for sale. But hey, here’s a similar car for a higher price. It’s called bait and switch and you just lost a customer for life. It’s places like this that make people hate car dealers.

I’ve bought a car at Carlsbad Volvo and have dropped off my older Volvo for service here. I find the people and dealership to be reputable and fair. Not only did they diagnose the issue, but gave me a recommendation and alternatives to consider to help me come to a decision. I will definitely be buying my 3^rd Volvo here.

Charged me $ 130 to «diagnose» and give me the estimate to repair broken interior door pull. Would have been an additional $ 440 to repair for a total of $ 570. I would have to return to get it fixed while the part came in. Went to Hugos who fixed it the next day for $ 128 total. The dealership was over 4x what another place charges. I sent an email thru their website to describe what I felt was drastic overcharging. A service manager called and left me a message. I called back and left a message with the receptionist, but never heard back.
On a previous repair, my engine was shaking every time I made a right turn. Brought it to Carlsbad Volvo. $ 2,000 later I get the car back and the shaking is still there. I bring the car back and ask to have one of the service people drive it around the block with me so I can point out the noise. I the service person said that they would just put the car up and find the problem. I asked if they had put the car up last time when they did not find the problem. When he answered that they had, I insisted that we drive around the block. Being this was my second time there to fix a problem, I was surprised at the resistance to taking a three minute test drive to point out the problem. They fixed a broken engine mount that was the cause of the problem. How this was missed the first time I have no idea. $ 1200 later this time the problem was fixed.
Given they were going to charge 4x what another shop would on the door, I wonder now if I was taken for a ride. I will never use Carlsbad Volvo again, but if you choose to I would shop the work first.

Carlsbad Volvo is excellent. I took my car in for service and everyone I spoke to was attentive and even kind of funny. The location too is great. Right down the street from the beach

I returned for maintenance after my wife persuaded me to give them a 2^nd chance, and everything when flawless this 2^nd trip. But I still prefer Volvo San Diego.

The absolute worst car dealership I’ve ever been to. Tried to support my local business, but Volvo Carlsbad was too busy to help me… on three separate occasions. I ended up buying at Volvo Escondido, and they were outstanding to work with.
During the buying process, I missed a signature, so I had to go back to Volvo Carlsbad to sign it. When I went inside the showroom, there were three guys talking in their office, all of whom could see me waiting at the front desk that had no one at it. None of them asked me for help, and finally I had to walk in to their office to ask for some.
Go to Volvo Escondido where they work for and appreciate the business.

I’m kind of shocked by the negative reviews here. I’ve been taking my car for service to this Volvo dealer for years. Viv, Bill and Frank are all amazing, extremely friendly and always on top of things. I’ve never waited or received poor service. They are very professional and never suggest services on my car that aren’t necessities. They’ve known I’ve been working on a budget at times and respect that 100%. I would highly recommend them!

Frank took very good care of my car. He even had it washed. He gave me an estimate to fix my car and when I picked it up it was less money than he stated. They also completed a recall I did not know about. It is nice to have someone that you can trust.
