California Wear

I love this store. I grew up in Carlsbad and each time I go back for a visit, I stop in. My first purchase was a gorgeous pair of gold covered earrings. They are sand dollars that hang down. I wear these earrings a lot. I wear them on days I will be swimming in the ocean or lake, because the gold won’t wear off and look great always.
I was in the shop about 2 months ago and was looking again for another pair of unique, quality earrings and such, and found a pair, but not in gold. I bought the ones in silver and had the girl, put them on a list for the manager, Misty to order. I gave her my number and name and asked if she could order them and I would pick them up next time I came down. Well, to my surprise, Misty called me last night and reminded me of the earrings I wanted in gold! She had them and I paid for them over the phone. Now my Dad will pick them up and bring them to me on Thanksgiving! I had totally forgot about them and so happy they remembered! GREAT customer service!

I love this shop because its not a cheesy souvenir shop that you find in every city along the coast with the same junk over and over again. I’m a local and I shop there for nice clothes and I’m glad my wife told me about this place. The customer service is great and there’s always a cool sale going on. Love this place!

I love California Wear for many reasons. Misty is a fabulous buyer and knows how to shop for all age groups and different groups of people. This is the best place and it is almost an ongoing joke when anybody asks me where I bought something I’m wearing or a great gift!!! Usually almost always the answer is California Wear. I have been shopping here for 10+ years and always find new additions. The store is perfect you can head in before a meal at Daily News, after Margaritas at Nortes or in a freezing panic because you forgot your sweater and are headed for a sea wall walk. You an find souvenirs and all kinds of beautiful clothes. A few of my favorite brands carried here that I always wear are Rip Curl, Life is Good, Natural Life, Ocean Minded and Jewelry by Lola. Guaranteed you will love the store and staff. Misty and staff are friendly and helpful and full of good ideas and friendly shopping advice. Happy Shopping!!!

If you are going to work in a shop and work with the public then at least try to have a decent attitude. The girl who helped us tonight was beyond rude and completely unhelpful. There is another word I’d use if. I’m a local living in the area and am horrified that would be what visitors to my city have to experience. If you can’t handle a customer facing job then find a new one! And spare unsuspecting shoppers the abuse. All I wanted to do was treat my nieces and nephews to a gift which unbelievably I still did. One star for the 6 items the kids chose because they liked them. And one review so the owner of this shop knows to make changes.

I frequently stop at Daily News Café next door for breakfast. Any time anyone comes down from LA, that’s our go-​to place, and I also take my dog and go roaming around there.
Had never roamed into CA Wear so Deborah and I, stuffed with breakfast, sauntered into the little store at one end of the center next to Carlsbad Inn. They have lots of fun stuff! Sometimes touristy stuff can be useful and the staff is sooo friendly. Well, almost everyone in Carlsbad is really friendly.
They have tshirts, hoodies, jewelry, accessories, sunglasses, postcards, umbrellas, games, and did I say tshirts and hoodies? They have LOTS of them. This store is well equipped to handle the needs of the hotel guests, as well as us locals.
Bought a Carlsbad hoodie that I just love. I will be back.

This place has been around awhile and unlike other clothing and local souvenir shops in the village it withstood the test of the economic crash in that area… meaning it didn’t shut its doors and if anything it thrived. They always are stocked with what is current for all age groups from adults to babies. I love taking all my out of town guest there to get their Carlsbad and beach gear and I like shopping there for all their Rip Curl and Jewelry. There is always cute stuff and it doesn’t cost a fortune. I am especially writing this review for the 2 sweet girls that always run the shop and are super helpful, I wish there was more people in retail like them !
