So I went to this salon about 2 months ago for a haircut and now I call to schedule an appointment w/the same stylist for a cut and color … and a pre-appointment is necessary before I can even schedule an appointment. What a terrible customer service policy. No thank you, I’ll go elsewhere.

My wife’s sister is a stylist so we rarely need to go anywhere else. Now that she lives in NY we were dreading finding a place to go. The last experience we had with a salon cutting our kids hair was horrible. The owner was shoving toys in my son’s face while he screamed. Body and Sole was completely different. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and with big smiles. Our two boys, 4 and 2, were quickly put at ease. As were my wife and I. Me and the boys were getting cuts and my wife was there to help with the boys but she had to leave just before my cut was finished. One of the ladies that works there quickly stepped in and took my 4 year old and began coloring and talking with him. Even after I was finished she continued to watch him so I could help with my 2 year old. The whole experience was just great! The girls that worked with us did everything possible to make our day. They did a great job on our boys hair. We will be back!

Clean, neat, modern building, relaxing environment, and professional service. Email and or text reminders for appts. Solid work. What else could you ask for in a salon?

I’ve seen Becky several times for a Brazilian and I am very pleased with her. She’s professional and friendly and I have recommended her to several of my friends. I have also been here twice for massage and have no complaints about that either. Liz is very knowledgeable and always offers informative options to help you feel better. I went in for a facial last week and while it was nice and relaxing and the esthetician was wonderful, I wouldn’t schedule another one. I wish that I had known beforehand that they didn’t utilize rotary brushes, do extractions, etc. because it may have swayed my decision to get a facial in the first place. I have never had my hair done here so I can’t speak about that at all. The only issue I have is that they want you to change into a robe before your massage and then sit in a public area. No thanks. I don’t like that at all. I find it really uncomfortable. The robes are see thru from wear(no, that is not an exaggeration) and they are short. I wish they could just let you get changed in the massage room like everywhere else.

After moving to Carlisle I have been very impressed with the entire staff at Body & Sole. Glad to have this salon here in the town.

Well, this is not called«VIP» any more, but they don’t have a page for their new moniker: «Body and Sole»… so I’ll leave my review of my wax here. I’m from out-of-state and was looking for a good bikini wax. I’m in town to greet my husband who’s coming home from a deployment for a two week visit. I just wanted to get cleaned up after not seeing him for six months, right? Never in my life have I experienced such pain in my nether-regions, and I gave birth without drugs. I’m not talking about the procedure itself, because that was pretty standard as far as pain goes. I’m talking about when I left. Later that day I honestly felt as though I had 2nd degree burns on my crotch. In the top-ten list of places one hopes to never feel such excruciating pain, the crotch has to be number one. She applied wax more than *four* times to the same areas, until she completely removed the top layer of *skin*, resulting in very thin scab(like you get when you burn yourself). Needless to say, this was not the sexy image I had imagined treating my husband to after six months away at war. I don’t think that my esthetician — Beverly — is a bad person. In fact, she was super nice. I think bikini waxing is just not a common procedure to get at this salon. It’s not their forte. She was really determined to extract some super short hairs(even after I told her we were good; don’t try again) no matter the cost. She used both hard and strip wax, but was very sanitary. On a minor note, she left me sitting up at an angle, like the way the bed must be for an eyebrow waxing. It was phenomenally awkward being elevated enough to get to watch her work on my naked self. I’d so much rather stare at the ceiling! Finally, the place was more over-priced than places I’ve gone in New York, Honolulu, and Atlanta. This is central PA, folks. You don’t have to pretend to be high-rollers. Especially when your wax specialist does not understand how to protect skin!

I come from the Boston-area originally where you would expect to find high-end, great service salons. After I moved to the Carlisle-area, my mother started going to V.I.P. and so I trailed along after her to get some highlights done. I have to say, that V.I.P. outshines any of the city salons and it is the most wonderful salon experience I have ever had in my entire life. The staff at V.I.P. are professional, courteous, and well-managed. The setting inside the salon is open and airy, with stations offering you a bit of privacy as the client. If you are having highlights or colour done, they sit you at a table with magazines, coffee, soda, water, whatever it is you would like and you are able to look outside and read while the stylist does your hair.(The view is particularly gorgeous in the Fall/Winter and very calming!) I have never had a bad experience at V.I.P. The stylists are up-to-date, professional, and very knowledgeable. I recently when in to have new highlights put in and when I said I wanted«Caramel» my stylist, Jessica, brought out a card with perfect highlights and my hair is fabulous. I can’t say enough wonderful things about V.I.P. The quality of hair cutting is wonderful, the stylists are great, and everyone is so nice and so gracious. They are the best!
