So I used to love this toys r us then I found about their customer service
So there’s this limited toy I really wanted (7 in superman) and after the manufacturers of the toys announced it, I called each day for a month. Just a week before the month ends, they had it and they didn’t tell me. They did not inform me because a few days afterwards, they told me they did had it and don’t know if they’re going to restock.
Also whenever I called them they would usually transfer me to a guy who knew what I was talking about. Then they stopped. Even though the figure was in the DVD aisle and I told them it was there they wouldn’t listen. They would look in the toy aisle even though I knew it was wasn’t there. I told them it was not there and they would give me the wrong information. When they did actually have it after a month of calling each day, they gave me the wrong information.
The toy I wanted is a limited edition that is found in the DVD section. It is called the Superman 7 inches.

Disgusted with the level of customer service here. I actually refuse to ever walk back into this location. They’re understaffed and they’re rude.
I walked around for like 20 minutes searching for «glitzy globes» for my daughter. I asked more than one associate on the floor for directions and they told me they didn’t know where they were. Finally after walking up and down every aisle I found it. Go me.
It gets worse though. There were about 20 registers and maybe 5 were open. You would’ve thought it was like Christmas Eve because the lines were long and no one cared. After standing on the line for 10 minutes I get to the register and am met with the rudest cashier ever.
Here is where I became livid. So TRU started taking coupons from buy buy baby and/​or bed bath and beyond for competition. The last time I came and used a BBB coupon it was approximately 3 weeks ago. As I’m pulling out my coupons the cashier goes «we don’t take those» I’m like since when because I always use them. With her attitude she replies «well we don’t take them and if I get my manager he’s just going to tell you the same thing». Then she gives me my total again with an attitude. So I’m like are you going to get the manager or not. She screams him over with an attitude and he tells me I can’t use them and how they stopped taking them a year ago. –_​–
I was so pissed at this point I paid, grabbed my receipt and walked out the door. Plan on never returning. I should’ve went to BBB or just ordered it on eBay or Amazon. I would’ve saved money anyway!

High prices, low stock, and no one on the sales floor. Argumentative staff and the store is so dirty. I found a partially fermented cup of coffee behind a toy on the shelf. Gross and dangerous for children. Target is a cheaper and cleaner alternative.

I walked into the store unfamiliar with the layout so I waited in customer service for a pick up order. It turns out pick up is all the way in the back but there’s a serious lack of signage indicating that.
Now that I wasted a few minutes waiting in the wrong area I got to the pickup area in the back and wasted a few more waiting for someone to show up to the desk because it was a ghost town back there. I glaced over to the machine near the desk and there’s a self-​checkout for picking up items. I scanned the barcode on my receipt and followed the instructions. In the meantime someone showed up to the desk and started helping another couple that had arrived after me. The self-​checkout machine told me someone would be out with my item shortly so I decided to wait patiently.
Another employee came out with my item and since I had already paid in advanced I didn’t need to wait again and I exited the store. Overall I think if they just merged customer service and pickups that would be a better idea because then someone would always be present at the desk to help and people wouldn’t get confused waiting on the wrong line. Other than that the employees were friendly and the store itself was clean and organized. On my way out I caught a cool Star Wars storm trooper display made entirely of Lego’s. While I am not a huge fan of Star Wars I can still appreciate the craftsmanship involved.

We go here all the time my son loves this store. Some stuff can be good prices depend what u buy. lots of choices some stuff can be pricey. lots of fun to watch my 18 month old walk around. customer service does not answer the phone in past had to call 1 – 800 number to ask a question, return very polite even after christmas. parking easy. nice two in out places.

This store is well stocked and the staff is very helpful, but the parking lot outside is CRAZY! This location is dangerous from a parking perspective on the weekends and holidays.
Getting in and out is a Mega chore. The traffic from old country road and Clinton street makes this place INSANE!!! Stay away on the weekends and Major holidays. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Not sure how TRU stays in biz with Amazon and all stores carry cheaper options. But when I need a big token item like bike for kids then this place comes handy as I never have time to build them at home.

They have a very good selection of items. My kid loved the store! Much Better selection than in Valley Stream. Sales people were great. Customer Service people were not that good: I asked them to find one item, but they we busy talking to each other.

i don’t know if it was because i was young that i loved this place, but now no matter when you go, its like a stampede in there… A survival of the fittest…
Overall, the prices are decent, but sales counter lines are long because hardly half of the registers are open, if even that…

Just as I was about to write this review, I realized that I’ve been going to this TRU for almost 30 years. I actually remember my parents buying me Star Wars figures here around the time Empire Strikes Back came out. (The original version; not the re-​release). Anyway, this place has changed tremendously; especially over the last decade. It seems like they renovate it every 2 – 3 years. When I was growing up in Queens, this was considered *the* TRu to go to. Nowadays, this is no longer the case but it is still one of the better TRUs out there. I’ve come through here on weekdays & weekends and have never had any problems.
