Went today for a Brazilian wax I was introduced to Maria she’s simply awesome… first waxing experience didn’t go so well but this time around I trusted she would do the job… she knows alot about waxing… simply awesome see you in 4 weeks Maria!

This place was awesome! Staff was very professional and pleasant. Ray cut/​styled my hair. He was very knowledgeable regarding hair growth/​thickening products and tips. I have naturally curly hair and had never really used a curling iron– he took the time to go over basics with me, potential products for purchase, etc. And he suggested a quick morning routine to for my unruly curly hair! I was very satisfied with my cut/​style, definitely would go back to Ray.

Maximus is filled with super talent that is incredibly knowledgeable on the latest fashion trends. As a man, its important to stay current in the looks and trends, I strongly encourage to get styled by Aida or Jackie, these two stylists are on the frontier of high end hair techniques. Amazing, atmosphere, incredible following. BFH

I love Maximus spa and salon everyone is nice they treat you like a princess Michell does my hair color and Rey cut my hair the both are the best I’m very perfectionist and demanding and they have so much patience and professionalism they are using olaplex that’s a plus for me I recommend 100%

I really love it here. Everyone is so friendly and nice. I was first referred to Jackie by a mutual friend and she totally hooked me up for my wedding (the on-​site charge wasn’t bad at all)! I wanted a new look after the wedding and Jackie introduced me to a new cut-​style called «calligraphy cut» for my beachy waves and I absolutely love it! After taking off 6 inches, I went back to go a little shorter and there was no charge for the redo! Jackie offers the best advice and executed my ‘do better than I imagined.

Alanna, Aida, and Michelle are all amazing. Those are the only people that have done my hair here as well as Eleni but she’s not there anymore. Worth the price :)

I can’t speak for the salon, but a facial with Gina is as good as it gets. I wouldn’t even consider getting a facial with anyone else, anywhere else. I would follow her anywhere. My skin is clean, soft, glowing, perfection after a facial with her.

I stopped going here after many years of being a loyal client. The staff act like they’re doing you a favor all the time. The owner is a real piece of work, she has no customer service skills at all. I’ve gotten spa services and my hair cut and colored over the years but never again. The prices just keep going up while the service goes down.

They do not have a good A/​C this the second time I have to cancel my appointment for my prenatal massage. Even my husband said the whole place was hot and not comfortable and he is not pregnant .they try to tell me is good but I thing the liars they just want you to stay and take your money that is all not s good thing when you have a business. This a horrible place I just wanted to relax

I have to preface this review by saying that I went to this place for the first time about 10 years ago, and the most recent time was over a year ago. I was provoked into writing this review when a friend asked if I had heard of this because she was interested in some of their services for a bridal event and I wanted to make sure other people were warned again visiting here. The first time I went here was when they were still in the old location at the Source mall. I received a gift certificate for a facial and makeup application. I was 16 or 17 and didn’t know how to tip, so apparently what I had given them was insufficient. It was an entirely innocent mistake since I was young, but the people there were horribly nasty and made me feel terrible. I was pressured into giving them more due to the standards for tipping. I happily would have done it had I known, but I had no idea.
Fast forward almost ten years, and I saw a groupon for Brazilian waxing. I figured I would give this place another try, and armed with the right tip amount, I walked to the front desk to check-​in. The woman who «greeted» me (and I use that term lightly) was not in a good mood and kept talking to other customers before me. I don’t want to assume that she was racist, but there was no other explanation for her condescension towards me. When it was finally my turn, she gave me an attitude for being late (which I wasn’t. she just wasn’t ready for me). I pulled up the groupon on my phone and accidentally clicked «mark as redeemed.» She flipped out and told me that if it says redeemed then they can’t provide services to me. I tried to politely explain that I just clicked it and she saw me do it, but she did not want to hear it.
Finally, another girl at the front desk took over and said she would handle it. She was super sweet and made sure that there were no issues and even apologized multiple times for the other lady. She definitely was a complete change from the older woman who I initially had to deal with, but my experience was already tainted.
The woman who did my Brazilian wax wasn’t unfriendly, but she wasn’t very friendly either. It was obvious that she just wanted to go home for the day. The wax itself was thorough and quick.
I would never go back here nor would I EVER recommend anyone else to either. The way the staff speaks to customers is disgusting and unprofessional and is a disgrace to the service industry, ESPECIALLY a salon/​spa where people go to relax, not be treated horribly. Thank God I never had to pay full price for any of the services I got here.

Worst wax experience ever!!! I’ve been getting brazilians for over 5 years now and I have never experienced anything like this!!! I am in horrible pain; black and blue. She had no clue what she was doing! DO NOT GO!!!

I really do love this salon, unfortunately due to the increase in prices of their haircuts I cannot get my hair cut as frequently as I should and or would like to:(I have extremely thin hair that takes forever and a day to grow. When I come to Maximus I usually only get an inch to an inch and a half removed and that costs $ 80.00. I know it includes a blow out but I could take or leave that, I wish they offered a cheaper haircut excluding the blow out.
If you’re looking for someone to cut your hair and do a phenomenal job it is Joseph! I’ve never left with a bad hair cut from him ever! He always listens and is honest as to what cut will work for your face and current length. He won’t let you leave looking ridiculous. The staff here is friendly, and it is in a good location, there is also plenty parking available.

Brazilian wax client: I had purchased a groupon for three waxes because it was a good deal. The first time I got waxed was with an Asian lady, I cannot remember her name, but apparently she did nails and wax. It was the most painful experience ever that I was considering to not use the other two groupons. Then I found out another lady did brazilians, Maria, she was much better. She was quick and made you feel comfortable but because they do not use a hard wax I will not be going back again. The wax they use is extremely painful and does not give you a clean look you should have after a Brazilian. Although Maria does say it’s the best wax its definitely not because I have been to Brazilian salons and they all use the hard wax and it isn’t painful and cleans everything nicely.

Hair coloring & cut review:
1) EXPENSIVE
2) they don’t seem to know to to put highlights into darker hair colors
3) the girls comment whom dyed my hair: «it’s to bright over here, let’s go in this side of the room. It’s darker.»
4) she messed up my highlights and ended up putting more dye on my whole head trying to fix it
5) I asked for a specific hair cut. Long story short, they also don’t know how to cut hair but I give the lady who cut my hair 3.5 stars.

I Got a Brazilian from Groupon for
Maximus. I was hesitant but surprisingly was happy with the results. Maria was great and pleasant and made it a fast and easy going process. It’s very clean and the wax is perfect and not hot. I will be going back.

I came here after scoring a great deal on Groupon for bikini waxing! I was working at the Red Door Spa in Woodbury at the time. Not only did I get waxing at RDS but they had injured my crotch! I was not the only staff member victim of such horrible waxing at my job so I decided to see if there was another place with better trained employees. I took the chance with the Groupon figuring they’ve had a lot of practice since the purchase count was high.
I was happy to come here but also nervous as of my past painful experiences at Red Door Spa. I arrived and there was easy parking A+! I got in an check-​in was a breeze and the desk staff treated me kindly without some snotty attitude A++. I used the showers as I just came from the beach, and everything was SUPER clean as well as locker room was a decent size. The bathroom products were not high-​end or fancy organic stuff, but they had good smells so it was ok. Robes were oversized for comfiness and the snacks area had healthy fruits A+++! I was met in a timely manner, perfect!
Now the service, I had waxing with Gina! Hands down she is the best waxer in Long Island I’ve encountered. I will go back to her as she does not injure you. I think that comes from her being comfortable working with other peoples bodies. She understands the human form and the elements she is working with! She guides you into the positions to help cater to a comfortable waxing experience that is injury free. I gave her a great tip as my hopes for waxing outside my home was renewed. I also told her to do the armpits while we were at it as she was doing a killer job.
I have more Groupons to go back but haven’t had the extra cash for tipping with saving up for Xmas right now. I will return as soon as the extra flow comes in! Gina and the staff will have my business again, and I can’t wait to try all the other services they offer. Their menu is very cool and fun to daydream about these lovely services!

I’ve been platinum blonde and curly, long dark and straight, and now have a borderline pixie cut. I get compliments everywhere I go on my ever-​changing cuts, and this is due both to Jackie’s talent and my confidence in her to cut of inches and inches at a time. The texture of my hair has changed so dramatically in the two years that I have been coming to Maximus, between all of the bleach and keratin I have used, and it’s always been cut to perfection. I’ve recommended her to my mother and my cousin, both of whom love her as well.
I’m mostly posting this because I got my hair cut on Monday and I’ve been getting flattering compliments all week = D

MASSAGE/​FACIAL REVIEWS:
I first tried out Maximus several years ago during «spa week» and I’m still coming back for more! It is easy enough to get to with a large parking lot and good hours of operation. It was also my first spa experience since Greenhouse Spa/​Georgette Klinger in Manhasset went under. So far nothing has beaten them as far as overall experience but Maximus comes the closest.
There is a locker room/​bathroom/​shower area that you are first led so that you can change into a comfy robe & slippers & also store your belongings for safe keeping. Then there are 2 dimly lit areas of seating for before and after your treatments. They also provide water with lots of lemon slices, clean glasses, trail mix… you get the picture…
The treatment rooms for massage & facial offer heated tables & ofcourse music. On the downside you can sometimes hear the booming music from the salon sneaking in. And also talking/​laughter in the halls. It isn’t too bad for the most part. After massage, therapist is always outside the door to greet you with water and will lead you back to seating area.
From back in the Greenhouse days I only dealt with male massage therapists. Since going to Maximus I only used their female therapists but this last year I did try a few male therpists who did not thoroughly impress me. At Greenhouse the massage therapists had different techniques they would try out. I haven’t found any (male) massage therapists lately that do that unfortunately. Just really stick to the basics. But the female therapists I’ve used at Maximus really rock and I will be returning to one in particular. Shout out to Tina who has her special bag of tricks! I recently recommended her to my boss who can’t wait to make a future appointment with her. Also I’ve tried 2 facialist which are both equally great. Lately though I’ve been sticking with Gina. Consistently awesome!
Maximus also offers special deals often. Once you have spa treatments you can go Monday thru Thurs & have massage/​facial combo for $ 125. That’s a pretty good deal! Thankfully, for those special offers, I have increased my spa visits to once every 3 months now. Maximus makes it way more affordable for those of us who enjoy the spa experience! Also, they do not hound you to buy their products as other establishments do. I always walk in & walk out feeling like I got the royal treatment! FYI tipping can be done at the front counter when you pay on the way out. They have little money zip-​locks. Be sure to write the persons name on there so they get it!
I definitely would recommend at least checking this place out during a «spa week» and then taking it from there :-)
