Back Burner

Everything I’ve tried here is delicious! The tri tip sandwich, hot dog and burger are all amazing. It’s definitely my favorite thing about the kraken. Fast and friendly service makes the experience that much better!

Back Burner is a restaurant I was mighty confused about for a while! I could NOT figure out where this place was for the longest time. Thank goodness Todd & Alisa brought us here and showed us the way!
The BEST BBQ beef sandwiches and cooked on open fire grill outside on the patio behind the Kraken. It’s on the east side of coast highway (101) in South Cardiff. Go there!

The legendary Back Burner is a little barbecue stand located in the back portion of the Kraken. The menu consists of all kinds of meat sandwiches. I have ordered a Mahi Mahi sandwich made with love.
On another visit I asked too many questions on how the fish would be grilled and BC told me that he did not think that I would be happy because it was going to taste like red meat.
It is pretty cool that he cares enough to turn away business when he does not think the patrons will be happy. My carnivorous friends go ga ga for the meat plates, I just like the sole proprietor, cook and loving guy making the food, BC.

Best Tri Tip sandwich anywhere. Are you kidding me? No! I am not!!!
Do you like food? I like food.
Do you like Bar B Que? I like Bar B Que.
Do you, like Tri tip sandwhich, Portobello mushroom sandwhich, Maha Mahi tacos, Chicken breast, «MOHAB» AKA Mother of All Burgers and Hot Digiddy Dawg? I like all those too.
Well then, you must see «B.C.» on the rear patio of The Kraken Bar in Caridff.

In the words of our amazing Unilocal community manager, «Trish» you are not a real North County local unless you’ve been to and know about The Kraken. It’s hard to talk about «Back Burner» without mention of the bar it resides within.
As many times as I have been to this bar, I have eaten from Back Burner. B.C. is the master behind the griller. Treat him well and he’ll treat you like family. Tri Tip sandwich is insane. I don’t know how he does it but it’s so consistent that you can count on the same taste I get everytime I eat one. Do yourself a favor and get something there asap. You’ll wonder what you’ve been doing wrong on your BBQ that you cannot achieve B. C’s greatness.
I’m finding it hard to talk about this right now as I’ve just returned from dinner elsewhere yet I want a Tri Tip sandwich.

The Back Burner is on the back patio of the popular biker bar the Kraken. Although I do like the Kraken what keeps me coming back time and time again is the Back Burner. Run by the affable BC the Back Burner is a small BBQ area where the Mother of All Burgers (MOAB) and the Tri Tip sandwich are served. BC also serves Mahi Mahi tacos, Chicken Breast sandwich and Portobello mushroom burgers for those of you who don’t eat red meat. But if you are a carnivore I highly suggest the tri tip sandwich. Thinly slices, cooked to perfection yumminess.
You can’t go wrong with any of these choices and they are all more than enough to satisfy any alcohol fueled appetite.
Eating at the Back Burner is worth enduring the glorious raunchiness of the Kraken. Becoming friends with BC will rock your world. Don’t just take my word for it go find out for yourself. Tell em Alisa sent you.
