Quality Inn

This has to be the worst hotel customer service & cleanliness I’ve ever experienced! I traveled from Texas and randomly picked this hotel to stay since it was a long drive. I booked the reservation online and the lady double charged me once I got there & said she didn’t know how to refund it back to my card. Long story short Orbitz refunded everything. The first red sign going into this place is no vehicles were parked outside this nasty place. Budget inn right next to it was 100% better!

We made reservations without reading reviews and will never do that again. The room was not cheap. As soon as you drive up you can see how dirty the hotel is, the outside doors and concrete look like they have never been cleaned. Our two night reservation was nonrefundable so we really had no other choice than to check in.
As soon as you walk in your hit with the smell of incense. What smells could they be covering up one would wonder. As we walked down the hallway to our main floor room it was quite noticeable how hot it was in there and that they must not air condition the entire building. We also saw an industrial fan drying the hallway carpeting. Hmmm, did they just clean the carpets or is something else going on? There was also oddly a large black box on the wall of the hallway plugged in emitting some sort of scent.
When we opened the door to our room we are hit with yet more scented cover up. We turned on our a/​c and headed out for a visit with our daughter.
We dreaded our return late in the evening. The bathroom ceiling looked like it was going to fall in and black looking mold on the wall. We did not walk around the room without shoes, the carpeting looked as though it had never been replaced. We woke up not feeling well at all, headache, sore throat, cough. I’m not exactly sure what made us so sick, if it was all the air freshener scents or that they were possibly hiding mold. We packed up our room and never went back. On our way out we oddly saw a man enter a room and start squirting the carpeting with a spray bottle. I cannot even imagine what he was spraying.
We travel a lot, like probably too much and have never had such an awful, sickening hotel. Stay far away. What a disgrace to the Comfort Inn name. The owners should be ashamed.

The evening staff was nice however the desk clerk man in the morning on June 15, 2015 was asked to help with the waffle maker. So he tried it and it still didn’t work. He was able to finally get it to work HOWEVER the worst part of it all is that he blew into the waffle maker several times without washing it before he tried making a waffle.
I will not ever stay here again though.

Shower didn’t work and these people are the rudest host for a hotel that I have ever encountered. I will not be staying at this hotel again, ever.

I would rather have slept in my rental car.
I was forced to stay in a non-​smoking room, which I have done before, because every other room in town was booked. I’m not picky, I am a frequent traveller to small towns and as long as I have a clean room, hot shower, and internet I am usually happy. Not here.
The smell of the room hit me like a wall, the room was filfthy with stains on the chair and floor, repairs to the shower consisted of glopped on silicone. The final straw that made me run away was when I saw the roaches in the bathroom.
When I complained about the room after my first night (before I saw the roaches) they said they would have to upcharge me to move me. I lodged a complaint with the front desk when I left and asked the manager to call me. 3 days, no call.
Choice Hotels says they have received complaints before, and the hotel I stayed at next said they get complaints all the time.

Clean and fresh linens in the room. Everything in the room was clean and as ordered. The wifi is free here and the staff is very friendly. It’s located in Carbondale but it’s like. 12 minute drive to Marion. The continental breakfast was very good. Very much worth the cost. Try kayak or priceline for best pricing.

The building is very old and really need a face lift in the rooms and common area. The carpet in my room feels icky. The shower curtain rod was tilted at an angle that the curtain moves by gravity and the water goes everywhere when showering. They advertise indoor heated pool but the water is cold.

Do Not Stay Here!!! This place is a rip-​off joint. They are rude and will not allow for cancellation without fighting you every step of the way. They rarely answer their phone. Once we read other reviews with references to bugs etc. we called to cancel reservation 21 hours before the 4 pm day of arrival. The person that answered the phone told us that he could not do it but it would be no problem if we called the next day, but that was not the case. When we called back they told us we had to cancel 24 hrs before 4 on the day of arrival on-​line and that we were out of luck. Then they tried to say we could not cancel the other two nights. There are better places to stay in Carbondale.

Rooms and building are not as advertised. Rooms are filthy. Bugs are not uncommon. Air Conditioning did not work. When I arrived, I was told that my reservation (that I had secured with my CC) would not be honored and I would be put in a 2 double bed room instead of the king non-​smoking I had reserved. After much arguing (the guy working the counter actually yelled at me!), the counter guy eventually relented and honored my reservation. This took 30 minutes.
When I tried my card keys to get in, they did not work. After going back and forth to the desk 3 times and the counter guy claiming that the door’s batter must be dead, he finally gave me a working set of cards.
Once I got in the room, the AC just plain did not work. It blasted out warm air. I gave it 30 minutes to cool down and still no AC. When I complained, the counter rep said I signed a contract stating that if I didn’t ask for a new room within 10 minutes, I was stuck. 15 minutes later he barged into my room with his master key without knocking to argue with me some more about the AC. I had to ask to «please leave or I will call the police.»
When I woke up the next morning to shower and get ready for work, I found that the shower was filthy and was at about shoulder level to me (I’m 6’0). I had to bend over to get the water on me and the pressure was so weak that I could not really wash properly.
Wifi only worked sporadically and I did not dare touch the breakfast after all the bugs I saw (I could not identify them).
I got back to my room at 3pm and my room had still not been cleaned. Instead of staying another night as I planned, I got my gear together and ended up staying at a nearby Best Western which was much, much better and cheaper for that matter.
I will never stay here again and I do not advise others to do so. There are far better choices in Carbondale for less money. Do not stay here.

As soon as you walk in, the smell of curry is overwhelming. Front desk staff was rude. When I asked for a late check out (platinum choice members have the option according to their advertisement) I was too no. The sheets smelled dirty like incense. Next time I’ll stay at the Hampton.
