Specialties
Longbranch Café and Bakery is values driven. We make virtually everything by hand. Whenever possible, we use organic and locally grown products that support sustainable agriculture. We are a vegetarian restaurant and bakery serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our offerings include vegan and gluten free options as well. We have a full bakery that creates all of our fabulous breads and pastries. Our bakery also supplies fresh baked German breads for our sister company Town Square market, which resides on the same block. We are constantly striving to bring you the healthiest food options. In an effort to eradicate the use of high fructose corn syrup, we make many of our own flavored syrups for our famous coffee drinks. Our organic, fair trade coffee comes from Bongo java Roasting Company, a small independent roaster in Nashville, TN. So, we invite you to come be a part of our little community of good eats and sweet treats!
History
Established in 1998.
When we bought the Longbranch in 1998, we had eight employees. We now have over thirty! We are regular contributors to local causes that range from the Women’s Center to Food Works that promotes local food systems for Southern Illinois. Our fundraising efforts include children’s orphanages and schools in Bangladesh through the annual For Kid’s Sake Art Auction. We helped launch the Historic Town Square Business Coalition in 2002 to work on local initiatives with the city and the university such as the Friday Night Fair and Art Around the Square.
