This place is pretty bad. I didn’t have a great experience with either the optometrist or salesperson. Not a fan and won’t be back.

I have been going to this place yearly for a long time. I can say my expectations have been generally exceeded. They are always friendly, personable, and patient. I have always felt they have had my best interest at heart. They have a pretty good selection of frames and they can normally cut the lenses the same day. Don’t let the fact that it is in a mall deter you. They are a class act. Highly recommended.

Fantastic service!!! Found out my son needed glasses… made an appointment… had custom fitted glasses the next day. This was the first time my son had worn glasses, so we had a fair amount of questions. The staff made us feel very comfortable.
Fast Forward. … two months… My son decided he wanted to try contact lenses. …so back to lens crafters.
For a first time contact lens user the process of putting the lenses in can be tricky, (your eye naturally wants to shut when you try to put something in it). My son was disappointed he was unable to put the lenses in on the first try. The staff gave us a tip to practice for the next week… The tip work so well on our next appointment, (1 week later), my son was flawlessly able to put the lenses in on the 2^nd attempt…
My son is now enjoying the freedom of contact lenses. As an active kid„ (baseball etc.).

Came to lens crafters because my insurance plan started covering vision… yeah!!! I had not had a proper eye exam or proper RX glasses in over 10, maybe even 15 years… readers were no longer cutting it…
The service I got from lens crafters was outstanding! The Dr. I saw and his assistant were both very professional and helpful and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand! After my exam I picked out some glasses from the large selection of choices they have in stock… because I got the anti glare and anti scratch lenses, I had to wait ten days for my glasses to come in… how ever, I got a text message that they arrived a bit earlier than expected… I went to pick them up and the employee custom fit them to my face making sure they were well shaped and not too loose or too tight… I went back a few days later for some minor adjustments and that went well too! The prices were very fair, and they did all the claim work with my insurance provider and that made the whole process supper easy!
I am supper happy with my new glasses and the customer service I got from Lens Crafters! I will be going back there again when its time for my next pair of glasses or eye exam!

This all started when I needed new glasses, and spotted a groupon for lenscrafters for two pairs of glasses. I remembered going to them as a kid, so I thought it might be a good deal to get them there. I called them, mentioned the groupon, and asked if it could be used on contacts as well. Was told no, and this in itself wasn’t a big deal. I was also told I would still have to pay for the eye exam itself first. Again, not a big deal, I’d want to know my prescription, so I scheduled an eye appointment.
The day of the appointment arrived. I was made to wait a bit, always annoying when you have an appointment, but it happens. I was finally seen, and after the eye test was complete and handed my papers, I was sent out to the people in the eye store. I presented the groupon. Imagine a room filled with eyeglass frames. Then imagine being shown to a tiny turnstyle in a far corner clearly designed with the sole intention of making at once the least coverage and most ugly glasses possible, the ideal combination of aesthetically bankrupt and utterly useless to use. These, she explained, were the free lenses I could choose from. How much would the $ 150 from it cover? Any of the free ones. If I wanted actual nice glasses, I’d be paying another hundred or so, plus what I already paid for the eye exam.
Technically, the deal was $ 20 for $ 150, so I suppose I couldn’t feel completely misled when they also listed in the description all of their designer eyewear. It was misleading, sure, but it didn’t overall lie.
Still, the glasses were pretty hideous, and it this point, I was rather begrudging at throwing more money at them.
It was at this point I mentioned the contacts again, because ugly eyewear or not, this was something I still needed and one of the reasons I decided to go to an optometrist to begin with.

Um, what?! Why didn’t I get told this when I first called and scheduled an appointment? One of the reasons I was doing this was that I really needed contacts so I could exercise. I was told the person I talked to should have mentioned that I needed to have a special appointment for contacts, it was a different type of prescription, etc. In essence, more time, more money, please.
I was done wasting money with them. I left. I didn’t take a free pair of glasses, and my groupon remained unused until it expired.
Let me repeat that, for emphasis.
I LITERALLY WOULD NOT TAKE ANYTHING FROM THEM FOR FREE AT THIS POINT.
They handled the entire thing horrendously, and offered to do nothing to make up for it. There are way better places to go get glasses, I’d recommend any of them.

This is a great place. David is the best eye guy around. Go here and you will be a happy camper!!!

Nothing negative about my experience here. Dr. Oebeck was attentive and conversational. I felt like I was valued as a customer and as a person. The assistant was friendly and funny. I received the best pair of contacts in my life. I can’t say enough about this place. They have great hours, great employees and excellent value in eye wear.

Surprisingly, I had a fantastic appointment at LensCrafters in the Capitola Mall. After reading some of the reviews I thought I was in for an eye roll, but after my appt, I found that my eyes were rolling at some of the previous reviewers, lol.
The Dr I went to in the past was gone on vacation for two weeks. Lucky him! So I thought, what the heck, let’s give LensCrafters a try. I had been putting off an exam for way too long, and wanted to get one in before I left town for work.
I booked my appointment over the phone with a friendly sounding lady named Evelyn, who I later met in person when she double checked my insurance. I found out she was the store manager. She’s kind and very funny!
When I arrived for my appointment (a few minutes early) I was pleased that I didn’t have to wait too long to be seen, even though they seemed busy. A young woman named Dorothy helped me by starting me with my paperwork before we headed back to a «pre-​test» room.
There, she explained each machine to me, how they worked, and what to expect. It really helped to make me feel comfortable understanding what would happen and what the test was for. (Some Dr’s I have been to seem to just want to rush you through.) Everything was quick but thorough, and she was super caring and gentle. Instead of getting dilation which I preferred not to do, she took a picture of the inside of my eye. (Which was SUPER cool to see, btw!) The whole process was quick and easy– and most importantly, painless.
After the testing I went into the Doctor’s room and sat down with the humorous, but very professional, Dr. Obker. He was very nice and efficient! Everything was explained to me as I went along with my exam. Turns out it was just a little mild eye strain, and I needed a higher prescription. Nothing horrible, thank goodness! After the exam, we discussed what I could do to reduce strain, then I was good to go.
I came back out to the main store where Dorothy came back to me and helped me select a pair of frames to go with my new prescription. She helped me find a pair that were both cute and within my price range. Next, we went through the various options and features such as anti-​glare etc. I was very pleased with how thoroughly everything was explained to me, and I never once felt pressured into getting something I didn’t want or need. I felt like I was able to make educated decisions which was a BIG change from some other offices I’ve been to over the years. We even took side-​by-​side pictures of me in the different glasses so I could see what I look like when not posing in front of a mirror, haha! She took my measurements and custom fitted the glasses to make sure they’d fit perfectly (and they certainly do!). She was even super nice and re-​took my measurements when I decided at the very last moment to go with a different pair of frames (the joy of being indecisive!).
Next, we rang everything up, went through current sales (they were also discussed during the selection process), and I was pleased to find out they accepted AAA for a decent discount!
I was SUPER impressed, and will now be going here for my future eye needs.
Now, I rarely comment on other’s reviews, but I must say that it is a SHAME to slander an individuals name in a review. While we have rights with freedom of speech, it does not give us the excuse to call people thieves, and worst of all, threaten’s somebodies safety and employment because you didn’t ask enough questions during your appointment. To then proceed to offer no proof or examples of WHY you are making such claims in the first place, is slander and libel, pure and simple– and I am usually the first person to stand up for somebodies rights to freedom of speech!
I find it really indicative of ones nature when one resorts to slander, and claims of theft instead of writing an objective review and relaying the Facts of your visit. (/​Rant)
Anyway! Thank you LensCrafters for a pleasant appointment. You have my business, and I will continue to recommend you to all my friends, family and business associates.

I have just received my eye exam from David Oebker, O. D. of Lens Crafter. I have been seeing him for 7 years, but this time, it was difficult matching my prescription and we’ve had to send the glasses back.
The office is thorough, courteous to everyone who comes in. I have felt taken care and cared about.

I am giving one star because I can’t give no stars to the sales side of the business. The optometrist was excellent. However, the customer must deal with Dorothy for the prescription information and buying your glasses. Did you know they won’t put your PD measurement on your prescription? Technically, the optometrist doesn’t have to put it in your prescription. You have to call in and then the supervisor offers the wrong prescription so you can’t buy your glasses anywhere else. Luckily, there’s an 800 number you can contact to report shenanigans. The sign is posted right to the left of the main desk in the back. You. Have rights and you can do something about it by reporting ppl who are being shady towards you. Watch out for Dorothy. She is the supervisor and she is not trustworthy. If you’re inexperienced in buying prescription glasses then she will take advantage of you. She is an opportunist and will take advantage of any situation. She’s a shark and just plain ruthless with a smile. How do these ppl get to supervisor positions? They must lie, cheat, & steal like Dorothy. That’s how. Welcome to the new world, Dorothy, where customers can expose you, Dorothy, for the real you. Ppl like you makes me sick to my stomach and I will definitely never go back to Lenscrafter. You should be fired because you chase good paying customers away. What a shame. Lenscrafter was my go to eye exam until I encountered Dorothy. What does this say about Lenscrafter? They hired her and continue to employ her. If you read all the negative reviews on here, then you would conclude undoubtedly that Dorothy is the problem. Wake up Corporate Lenscrafter. It’s time to clean house and Dorothy should be the first to go. How many more reviews do you need to get the message, Lenscrafter? I wish I read the reviews before I walked into Lenscrafter, so I’m writing this in hopes to help another innocent victim. Run and don’t look back.

I had gone to Lenscrafters to get a pair of glasses. I had a really bad experience but i did the survey online and i got a call back from the district manager within a week to discuss my experience. I had explained what had happened and he was very compassionate and understanding. The guy even gave me his personal cell phone number and said if i had anymore problems or concerns to contact him directly and he would take care of it. That is real customer service right there!!! Well in the end they made it right! I am very happy and me and my family will continue to go there.

I was shocked to read ANY negative reviews of this place. I have been coming here for two years now and I have consistently had steller service. My husband gets his contacts here and I have gotten a pair of glasses and sun glasses here.
I’ve had two eye exams and an emergency procedure where Dr. O had to remove a bugs wing out of my eye which is much more painful than it sounds. He was kind, calm and talked me through the entire process. On both eye exams Dorothy & Peter were fun yet extremely professional.
I find the staff here hard working and dedicated. Evelyn is a manager that rises above the call of duty when it comes to customer service. I had an issue with my Ray Ban sunglasses which she solved immediately. Martin & staff stayed on top of my order to make sure I received my glasses in time for a month long trip.
In short I wouldn’t trust anyone else but this staff with my eyes and I highly recommend them!

I had an eye — exam at this place as recently I’ve got eye strain sometime. They are very professional and friendly. The eye-​exam was smoothly. I love the way they treat their clients. Thank God my eyes are just strain because I worked a lot with my laptop.
They have a lot of lenses. The friendly woman working there explained the differences of each lenses. I bought some because they are all beautiful.

Evelyn our optician and Dr. Obeker did such a great job in fitting both my wife and I with new glasses. It’s really great when people with whom you do business recognize you, remember your name and treat you so very professionally. They deliver quality service at a very competitive price and back their product.
I am very particular regarding my glasses and they did them right the very first time. My wife’s prescription is a bit more complex and they took the time to carefully and precisely get her glasses and contacts right.
Thanks again to Evelyn and Dr O for being there for us this time and times in the past!

My biggest compliant is that I called and made an appointment for the basic eye exam for around $ 65, the bill was over $ 100 for the main reason that they asked if I wanted to this and that service but never mentioned the cost of the extra.
Then their strange energy when you don’t buy the glasses from LensCrafters. The cooperation that owns LensCrafters also owns all the rest of the optical stores.

The Dr, is cool at the Capitola Mall LensCrafters, but the staff does not play it straight, on top of asking personal questions.

My boyfriend was in this week and I came in today. He needed an exam for contacts and I needed new glasses. Both visits this week went great. I saw Dr. David Oebker. He was so nice. He took his time and made me feel very comfortable. He explained everything and answered all of my questions. They were busy today but did not make me feel rushed at all. I picked out my frames came back in an hour and they were perfect. I just have to get used to the new frames. Once again I have to give a shout out to Kelsey (who I seek out whenever I come in) as always she’s the best! One thing I love besides the fact that they are all so nice is they have a 90 day policy of love em or bring em back and they will make it right. How can you go wrong? If you need glasses or contacts get in to see them, they will treat you right.

Wow! Believe it or not, I had a great experience at a chain place. Didn’t think it would be, but they proved me wrong.
I came in yesterday for the first time to have my eyes examined. I had to wait some, with an appt, but I wasn’t in any hurry for anything. No big deal for me. I was probably there for 1 & ½ hrs. Customer service was great too. Peter and Dr. David Oebker were great and very knowledgeable. Dr Oebker has been in the business for, I believe, 30+ years, which goes to show you he knows what he is doing.
I had all the tests done, even the one where they dilated your eyes and you have to look into a machine and wait for the flash green light to flash your eye. This tells you if you have any eye diseases or any other health problems. A ok here, nothing wrong. Yay! Dr showed me how they exam the inside of the eye and how they look for other health problems, Kind of cool, The only thing, b/​c of my eyes dilated, unfortunately, I had to drive to a few more errands, got a massive headache for the rest of the day. Yikes. But its a common thing, supposedly.
The price so very reasonable compared to other Optometrists in the area. Most exams were $ 130– $ 170. Here with everything was $ 103 with the last eye test, if you don’t need that test, it’s only $ 79. Glasses– they had a big selection, but they didn’t have a lot of Big nerdy glasses that has become popular again, which I am looking for. But I have a place that i am looking into for that.

Competent staff! The women have never been friendly the like 6 times I’ve been in. Not ever a greeting, just a smirk. Another example of women hating on women. The men on the other hand are great. Every one of them. Great exam! I saw Dr. Nguyen who filled in for the normal doctor on vacation. Definitely a different experience than others I’ve had in the past with Lens Crafters located in a bigger city.

Negative stars for customer service. NO professionalism whatsoever. The supposed «supervisor» who obviously is passed the age of high school mean girl attitude was a total witch! I get it, you hate your job, you’re miserable, and the tacky Forever 21 outfit your forty-​something self is trying to pull off doesn’t fit right. Take it out on the whole world. The support staff is unbelievably incompetent. Eye contact and communication, is that too much to ask? Make sure you tell them you have insurance, writing it on your forms is not enough for them to get it.
The doctor who gave me my eye exam was professional and courteous. Every other employee was shockingly awful. I just moved to Reno and went to Lenscrafters here. WOW, what a difference. The store is always packed, too. That says something. Lenscrafters in Capitola is a ghost town. Crickets chirping.

Very affordable! I was in a pinch once when I needed a contact for a show THAT night.
They squeezed me in and the show went on! You can’t ask for more than that!
